so good. It's not our main entertainment system
I purchased this DAC to connect an LG OLED audio out to an old analog portable stereo system. So far, so good. It's not our main entertainment system, so it allows for improved audio without needing to buy a new sound system when extra audio oomph is desired while viewing the LG TV. I liked this particular model since it came with an A/C adapter, but I ended up plugging the USB power cable directly into one of the LG TV's powered USB ports. That way, the DAC is only powered on when the TV is on. The only thing I wish was that I could control the AUX speakers with the LG remote. Alas, I have to you the stereo's remote separately to control the external speaker's volume. However, that is not the fault of this DAC.

I was running the output from my TV into my ...
I was running the output from my TV into my stereo receiver and wanted a little amplification of the signal so I bought this as it is advertised as an amplifier. I have to turn the volume up a lot more for the TV audio output signal than other devices that go to the stereo and I didn't want to inadvertently forget to turn it down before listening to another source and getting blasted out of the room with extremely loud noise. However, this device does not seem to amplify the signal and I still have the same situation as before. It only seems to turn the sound down, not up. Does not work for what I wanted to use it for. As a followup: The company contacted me and offered to send me a new device. I said fine as long as you think it will amplify the signal. I received it shortly and both the original and the new one do amplify the signal somewhat and hopefully will address the problem I wanted to avoid. The amplification is not quite as great as I would like, but with the variety of audio devices out there one can not expect all devices to match each other perfectly. So I will rate it a 5. The company cannot know how much amplification I need and it was very considerate of them to offer a new device and shipping was very prompt. That's all I expect of a vendor and will continue testing the device.

Good Alternative for TVs without Bluetooth
My TV is in the Living room, but I like to sit at my Laptop in the Dinning room. When my wife's in bed she complained about the TV being to load. So I came up with a plan to connect the TV to external speakers/headphones that I could have in the dinning room. Unfortunately my TV is not Bluetooth enabled and only has Optical Audio Out. With this device I was able to convert the optical to analog and then run a long line cable to my Beats Speakers and/or Headphones. As you can see in the pictures, it worked perfectly for what I wanted to do. Also, the device has its own volume control which allows you to turn down/off the sound from the TV, while still being able to increase/decrease the the volume going to the external speakers/headphones. The only negative thing I have run into is that the optical cable that came with the device, is not very good quality. I could get it to connect securely to the device or my TV, but I had a high quality cable on hand that is doing the job. Hope this Help!!!!!

Great little unit
This DAC met my expectations exactly. It does not introduce noise into the signal. The look of the design is simple and clean. I like that it included an optical TOS link cable. Some might complain that the power cable is too short, but I use this at my PC where I can find USB ports readily available. I plan to route the cabling under my desk and mount this unit under there as well. When I plug the power into my amp, I can power the DAC by powering on the amp. I will never need one without the other, so this simplifies the installation.

Converts digital audio to analog.
Perfect for connecting an external, wireless speaker to my new my Samsung TV. I noticed that I had to change the audio output format to PCM for both the HDMI input for my Direct TV box and and again for the network streaming services. I read complaints about distorted audio on some of the less expensive units. I haven't had any of those issues with this one. The external speaker I'm using has it's own volume control, so the one on the box is redundant for me, but it would be great if I was using headphones, because once the TV audio is directed to the optical output, the TV volume control becomes inopreratve. If I designed this thing, the LED power indicator would not be as bright. Just saying...

Easy setup, great sound.
My TV had run out of RCA Audio Out connections and I needed to be able to send sound to a pair of Sennheiser HDR120 wireless headphones. I had never used a toslink digital optical audio connection before, but I had an available digital optical output connection on the TV and decided to give it a try. (I had also ordered a 6-foot Amazon digital optical audio toslink cable for 5 dollars. Make sure you take the plastic shields off the ends of the toslink cable!!!) Installation of the ESYNIC digital to analog converter was very straightforward. I went into Settings-->Sound on the TV and made sure that PCM was selected. I attached the Sennheiser RCA-in cables to the ESYNIC digital to analog converter RCA-out connectors without difficulty. As expected, I needed to adjust the settings on the Sennheiser base unit a bit to optimize the connection. This tinkering took about 5 minutes. The results were spectacular. A-B comparison of the headphones sound to the sound coming from the TV speakers showed the headphones sound to be remarkably more clear, musical and lifelike. This was money well spent. Addendum: 2018 0830. The DAC Converter from ESYNIC continues its stellar performance at both locations in my house. Well done!

Spotless sound. Works directly out of the box
Quick and effective solution to adapt a wireless Sennheiser headset (amazon B0001FTVEK) to a new TV featuring just an optical output. Nice build. The potentiometer (volume control) works tightly and smoothly. Comes with power adaptor and optical cable. Light enough to be attached with velcro or similar tape in a convenient, out of sight but reachable location. A small red LED indicates the on-state. It really takes longer to unpack than to set up.

Works great for Samsung UN55NU6950FXZA (Costco item 9556950)
I picked up one of these Samsung TVs at Costco's pre-Superbowl sale for use as a dedicated gaming TV. It sits in a corner in front of a giant beanbag chair, but it's in the same room as the home theatre so nobody wants to hear it in the background. The old TV was used with good old Sony 3.5mm headphones so I figured this won't be a problem. Lo and behold a lot of these new TVs don't come with a 3.5mm jack at all! Enter this product. Plug the USB power cable into the USB port on the back of the TV, the optical out from the TV to the optical in on the DAC converter and the old 3.5 mm headphones in the jack on the front. Just make sure to change your TV audio out from TV speakers to fixed or external (whatever the other choice besides TV speakers is). I had to change my audio out advanced settings from Dolby to PCM as well, but it works perfectly for this purpose.

Works well if you have only optical audio output on your TV or other device.
I have a severe hearing problem. When I watch TV, I use Sennheiser model TR140 wireless headphones. I purchased a small amplifier to boost the audio output of the TV from line level to speaker level. This system worked very well for many years. Then I purchased a new LG OLED TV and discovered that it did not have the RCA style audio output jacks required by the Sennheiser headphones. The TV now has only optical audio (Toslink) output. Apparently, some manufacturers have decided that RCA style connectors are now obsolete. I purchased a Toslink to RCA converter to solve this problem, but the product was very poorly made and the Toslink connector broke the first time I used it. I returned the original product and purchased this one which was advertised to include an amplifier that allowed volume adjustment. I was skeptical when I purchased this product because of my previous experience, but I was desperate to regain the use of my headphones. When I installed the converter, everything worked as advertised! I turned on compression on the headphones. The yellow compression indicator light flashed on and off to indicate that the input level was too low. I simply increased the volume on the Toslink to RCA converter until the indicator stopped flashing and I was good to go. I even have Dolby Atmos turned on and everything still works. Also, my small audio amplifier is no longer required. I highly recommend this product for anyone who has the same problem I had.

Just what we needed.
My brother purchased a new Samsung TV and wanted to get a wireless headset from Sennheiser (which I've been using for years with my TV). However the new sets only come with an digital optical output. not analog L-R output (RCA plugs) nor headphone jack. This product solves the problem. Not only does it convert the digital output, it provides two outputs. He could if he wanted plug the Sennheiser wireless RF transmitter into either type of jack and use the other output to connect to a external soundbar since the speakers in the Samsung are typical downward facing TV speakers. The build quality appears excellent. It metal not plastic. You can power the unit with the AC adapter (which other similar products do not include for about the same price) or you can plug it into the usb port on the TV. Both approaches work as I've tested it using the TV's usb port. I had initially suggested plugging it into the TV's usb port with the idea that when you power off the TV, the unit will also be powered off but unfortunately the usb port still provides power when the TV is off (good maybe in other situations but not here.) Since I just installed it, I can't speak as to the longevity. Note: there are some other models that go up to 96kHz sampling rates versus this one at 192kHz that are lower in price. I also like the fact that this unit uses a micro-usb connector for the power port. Most other units have an old traditional type connector on the power port and a usb connector on the other end. So if the cable isn't as long as you need it to be on the other type of units you can't use an micro-usb to usb cable you might have. You have to buy a power to usb cable which are available but I may always have a micro-usb to usb cable handy.
