Seller follow-up on my order with helpful installation note prior to merchandise arriving. Following seller's guideline, used a rubber mallet to install seal trim on a 2018 metallic dark gray Toyota Corolla. Enough material to protect 4 doors, with 6+ inches left over. Instead of paint, I decided to use a clear silicon sealant to waterproof the open ends (will see how that works out.) In my opinion, this black rubber seal trim blends in well with the metallic gray and other factory black trims. Originally, I was leaning towards either clear plastic trim or transparent tapes to protect the door edges, but decided to give strongman Tools trim a try b/c 1) this installation is fiction based and does not need to mess with double-sided tape (hence installation can be un-do easily), 2) the embedded metal tabs helps to provide a rigid form along the edge, 3) the optimal thickness (yes, this is kind of subjective) should provide better protection over tapes without appearing too bulky and 4) favorable reviews by verified purchaser. Really hope this will work out in the long run. Wish this come in clear plastic, but again kind of hard to hide those metal tab, i can understand that.

I've purchased door edge guards from local auto parts stores but their quality left a lot to be desired. After several months in the brutal Florida summer the "chrome" would peel, the ends of the guard would easily come off, the glue would get dirty and drip. Fed up, I went on Amazon where there were a multitude of choices. After reading many reviews I decided to purchase this product. Once it arrived, I noticed its design was superior. The guard is coated with a quite-thick EPDM rubber, but the REALLY cool feature is inside. There are little quarter-inch pieces of U-shaped metal which are segmented throughout the roll (see picture). The metal pieces grip the door edges so no glue is necessary. The roll itself is flexible and quite hefty. I had PLENTY of length for all four doors of my SUV; enough so that when I messed up one door, I had enough re-do it again. As far as the simple installation, I riskily used a small ball-peen hammer (even though the directions advise a mallet) and tapped EVER-SO CAREFULLY, so as not to chip the paint underneath (DON'T use a hammer UNLESS you are willing to accept responsibility for the outcome). After installation I pulled out any extraneous metal segments with needle-nose pliers and then using a toothpick for accuracy, applied ATV Black Gasket Maker to the very ends of the cuts, ensuring the holes got filled completely. Voila! My doors look classy and cool, all at the same time! I've told my co-workers about this product and they seemed willing to give it a try too. BOTTOM LINE: Strongman Tools Door Edge Guards are better than any other guards I've used! I DID NOT RECEIVE THIS PRODUCT FOR FREE AND THIS IS MY HONEST OPINION, just in case you wondered.

I ABSOLUTELY love this trim, it was easy to go on and although I did not seal it off, of which I have every intension of doing so. It looks really good on my truck and I prefer it to go the length of my door, the main thing i like is that it is thick and goes on very easy but you will need a mallet to make sure it is even, I like that there is no glue to adhere it. I thought I made a mistake and found taking if off was very easy, (with no damage to your vehicle) it's not buldging and I like that.....Keep up the good work!!

This product is not just a split rubber or plastic item. This is a reinforced coated rubber protective edge cover. It requires some light effort to install but it attaches firmly and does not slip or fall off like the split products. I used it for a raised lip on the fenders of an old Corvette show car, that contact the hood directly when closed. The Strongman Tools U Shaped Seal works perfect and I do not need to touch up the paint every time I raise the hood at a car show.

I originally bought the U-Shape rubber seal from Strongman to replace a failing rubber trim sent with a set of truck flares I ordered. When the seal that came with the flares failed to meet my expectation, I set out to find an alternative instead of returning the flares. I found this Strongman product and it looked like it had potential, so I ordered it. Upon receiving it, I tested installing on my flares and it fit, perfectly. I also noticed that I really liked the quality, the design, and the look. I proceeded to install them on my flares and am now ordering more to use in replacement of my Dodge Door Edge Guards that I got from the dealership. These are heads and tails above anything else I've seen in all aspects. I say order and try them.

I put this on two cars. It is clearly very high quality. It has a metal base but is covered in rubberized material. You cot it with a pair of side cutters and put it on. You have to work a little bit to put it on but it won't come off by accident. It loojs professionally done. It is of higher quality than you would get paying a dealer to put it on. I put it on 2 cars so $20 v. $400. IT'S A NO BRAINER. This appeared to be the best available on Amazon. I highly reccomend it.

I've used several brands over time. Others use an adhesive within the groove and work OK and look like shiny vinyl. Usually after time the adhesive becomes less effective and need "re-gluing". Pleasantly surprised: This product adheres mechanically by gripping with flexible, internal "teeth" that should stay put! Rather flexible and easy to shape to door frame. Very satisfied with both installation ease and overall look. I also prefer the non-gloss look of mat black rubber. Installing hints: Allow the coil to warm to room temperature for maximum flexibility and definitely use a rubber mallet (as instructions indicate) to properly seat the trim to the door (and to save your hands).

This is a very robust, easy to work with door edge guard. If you're looking for something that will protect your door and other people's property, look no further. I measured, cut it to length and and grabbed a rubber mallet for installation. Make sure you have a good cutting tool as this does have a metal liner. With a rubber mallet installation goes very smoothly. If you don't have a rubber mallet grab a little block of wood or plastic and a hammer and it goes on easy.

I received the trim protector and really do like the product. My car is silver in color and the old door trim strips had turned yellow as they aged so the old trim was..., ugly! I love the look this black strip on the doors because for one it helps to make the car look more attractive. There was enough product for all four doors and the lift gate on the back of my Buick Enclave. I did as instructions suggested and used a rubber mallet, tapping it in place as I installed the edging onto the doors, then used a sealer at all the ends because instructions stated to do that because the metal used on the inside could rust if exposed to the elements. Better safe than sorry. It's a sturdy trim, thus do use a rubber mallet. I also tapped along the outside of the trim to be sure it sealed against the door. Probably not necessary at all, I just felt better about doing it.

It did it perfectly fine for our new 2017 Mazda CX-5 Touring crossover, doors' edges are now much better protected and they close as well if not better than before. Hope my simple review helps someone else with a similar vehicle. Very good quality product. And it didn't scratch the paint or the like, but I was very careful during installation, I used a small mallet to little by little, starting at the top, insert this StrongmanTools guard around the 4 door edges, starting from the top. We have a black CX-5 so...perfect match indeed! There is enough 'tape' for the 4 doors. I used the short leftover 10-12" piece to also protect a bit the center of the car's liftgate in the back (I wasn't going to buy more to do the whole length but you could if you want). I don't remember off my head the (longer) length of the rear doors strip for this car but 30.5" did it perfectly for the front ones, FYI.
