Nice weight and great design
Overall, this butter dish is pretty nice. It's got a nice weight to it, it's well made, and the sealing top is a really nice touch. If you don't need the dish sealed, you can easily remove the silicon from the top and use it like that as well. I generally put the butter in the porcelain bowl but I know people who put the stick on the top and use the bowl part as the cover. I guess you can do that too since it makes it easier to cut a slab of butter off the block :) What I really like about this is the style. It's discreet, looks great, and the wood top makes it look way better than the others. The other part I really like about this dish is that it fits a standard stick, California stick (who knew this was a thing -- and I'm Cali!), and the big European blocks perfectly. If the standard sticks are soft, you could potentially fit two inside with a tiny bit of squishing.

Perfect in every way!
Perfect in every way! I bought this to go in my farmhouse kitchen. My sister made vinyl letters for me that say Butter for the side. I love that it holds several sticks of butter and I keep it on my countertop so I have soft butter all the time. Fast shipping, great packaging!

Perfect, Ideal, And Lovely
This butter dish ends my very long search. I don't refrigerate butter that I use, I prefer it soft, so I keep it at room temperature in a cupboard. For years I've been storing my butter inside a plastic tub such as the Land O' Lakes whipped butter, or other spreads, comes in. Of course the butter doesn't fit in the tub unless I cut a stick in half, or cut a Kerrygold brick in half. But the plastic tub with its visible commercial branding all around it is not appropriate for guests, so I would have to remove the soft butter from the plastic tub, taking special care that the butter retain its shape, and transfer it to a serving dish or saucer. I didn't like the idea of using, washing, and re-using the ungainly plastic tub, so I hopped onto my computer and took a trip to Amazon, parked at its butter dish depot, and browsed for a long time among the many offerings of many styles. The Sweese porcelain butter dish seems to be a perfect way to store and serve butter. It holds a Kerrygold brick or up to four sticks. The cork lid's design includes a flexible silicon gasket that fits snugly into its grooved sleeve around the entire lid's lower half, which is recessed. This design provides an air lock when the recessed part of the lid is pressed securely into the dish's opening; it is more like the way a saucepan's lid makes an air lock than how a storage container's lid makes one by locking itself around the outside of the container. The Sweese's cork lid lifts off with only the slightest effort as long as the dish is held securely. The dish is solid and has the heft of a soup bowl or dinner plate; it's heft will resist a spreader or spoon that would remove a portion of the butter if the butter is not hardened from refrigeration. My good friend is a chef of many years, a graduate of culinary school, who informed me that both air and light will degrade butter (or any fat or oil) that is kept at room temperature. He prefers the French butter storage system that requires fresh water to maintain an air lock and an opaque container that keeps out any light. Me, I can't be bothered with such a procedure and its maintenance. I find the Sweese butter dish to be perfect, while no prep work is needed. The Sweese butter dish is a solid, white, opaque porcelain dish that prevents light and air from affecting the butter. I don't use butter for most cooking, and I don't use it much at all. After several weeks in the Sweese container, the room-temperature (76 degrees in summer) Kerrygold (salted) butter tastes fresh and delicious. The butter dish container proved itself to be perfect. The company that sells the Sweese butter dish has guaranteed its product and promises to make sure its customers should never have any concerns if anything is amiss or ever fails to function properly.

Best large family butter dissh ever
This butter dish exceeded my expectations when the whole family came home for a cook-out. it held plenty of butter for everyone to butter their corn on the cob. In addition the lid seals so the bugs that came to the cook-out didn't become decoration on the sticks of butter. I will be ordering several for Christmas gifts because several family members asked where I got this awesome huge butter dish. They also came up with many other uses for this wonderful container, Think about how pretty cranberry sauce would look in this "butter" dish. Also it looks great with my French White Corning Wear.

So cute
This was just what I needed! I hated dealing with butter. After you use it once or twice, the stick would never wrap up nicely and would just begin to look gross. I would even find stray butter crinkled in its wrapping hiding at the back of the fridge. I've even thrown out butter before so that I wouldn't have to deal with it. This is a game changer. Now, I just toss a stick or two of butter in this container and know that it is going to stay clean and fresh. I use every last bit of my butter. It makes my fridge look a bit neater and the container is so cute! I purchased the "Butter Me Up" dish and it arrived in perfect condition. The lid is a little crooked, but I just don't care because it has solved all of my butter problems. I don't think I'll have to buy myself another one because the quality is great. I will likely purchase again for my mom and sister, though.

Needs to be Redesigned, the CORK just bends up, you have to set a Full Sour Cream container on it to seal
Porcelain part is Great ,,LID Doesn't sit down and seal like it should...Problem is the STUPID light Cork lid the seal is to strong for the CORK...Someone needs to Redesign this, and leave the STUPID LIGHT WEIGHT CORK OUT....make a Porcelain lid with a track for the seal Follow up: Company seen my review and was right on it. Sent the other Lid which is solid Wood, I bought this on a Deal of the Day or some Flash Sale and it came with the Worthless Cork lid I did not see where I could have bought a Real Wood Lid on the order......Most "CORK" items in Life are a Joke but sounds good to the "SUSTAINABLE CROWD" .......This new Lid is Heavy Built and stays down....I have to say I did not expect a new Lid, But was pleasantly Surprised at the Fast Response from this Company to make it Right and they did and a FAST Delivery also.....It hold 2 sticks of Butter Easily if it was a little bigger it would hold 4.....This Looks GREAT and now Works GREAT with a Real WOOD LID.... GREAT PEOPLE TO WORK WITH, WILL ORDER MORE PRODUCTS FROM THEM

They read the reviews and completely improved their product; now it is perfect.
This company read the reviews of it's initial product and then changed the product to improve it. I just received the new one with the beechwood lid ( the previous lid was cork and had some negative issues) and now it seems to be perfect. It looks great, holds two normal sticks of butter with plenty of space left for more if you wanted it and is just heavy enough so that it doesn't need to be held when you're getting butter out. The top fits snugly into the white porcelain container but is still easy to remove to get butter. It has a silicone insert that is easy to remove and easy to replace and should last forever if treated carefully .The container has rounded inside contours for easy cleaning/drying and is safe for dishwasher. The top is a smooth pretty beechwood that must be washed and dried by hand. I always oil wood with olive oil to keep it happy. I leave mine on the counter to keep the butter from being rock-hard and because it looks good and is handy. I have tried several other butter holders and they are always too flimsy, too small, too short, too tippy or made out of plastic which I believes leaches into the product. This one fixes all those problems.

Like the canister, dislike the cork lid
Sure thought I would love this butter dish but, the cork lid lacks design and needs to go. When I first received it was happy with it because seemed to fit great, was I wrong...... after a few weeks or less it starts to pop up off the canister Pushing the seal back in place seemed to help for a while, but about a day or so it comes back up. Believe it's getting worse even? They defiantly need to redesign the cork lid, love the canister part. Also, maybe put the wording ALLES IN BUTTER on the side of the butter dish itself in black lettering? I think taking the seal off will at least keep lid down in place. Sure was hoping to give it 5 stars. :( After this review the company made good on this product !!!! I can't say enugh how wonderful they are and work with you to correct the problem. And they did. I will defiantly be ordering from them again. Went way far beyond out of thier way to keep customer satisfied. Need more companies like this... THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!! I LOVE MY DISH!!!

I love the smooth finish of the lid
Very cute butter dish. I plan to have this for a long time. It is dishwasher safe which is a plus for me. The air tight lid will keep the butter safe and fresh. Note the seal the goes all the way around the lid. I love the smooth finish of the lid. The design is slightly different from the photo, but that is not a deal breaker for me; it is still very cute.

Awesome product & customer service
Love this butter dish. Originally came with cork lid and seal failed after a couple of months. Awesome company sent me new wood lid at no cost to me. I would recommend this dish (with new wood lid) and would order from this company again
