If you want it comfortable READ THIS!!
My brother comes to visit often. Usually he sleeps on the couch, which isn't really comfortable for him because it's small and he feet / legs go off the end. I needed something that would be easy to store and easy to roll out for his visits to make him more comfortable. Took me forever to pick an item, and this one seemed to fit most of my needs. I always read reviews, and after reading the reviews on this bed, I decided to also order a mattress topper to make it slightly more comfortable. After all, how comfortable can a 4" mattress really be anyways? I mean, realistically. I loved that most reviewers said it was very firm, which means that indentations from the bars below are not likely to be felt while sleeping. So I ordered this bed and the Zinus 1.5 Inch Swirl Gel Memory Foam Air Flow Topper to go on top. The topper was only $21, so it was inexpensive in case it didn't help much. We received this on Christmas Eve. It was easy to put together. Well, easy for my brother to put together. I'm too weak to lift it. The mattress that came with it inflated in a few hours to the full height in the middle. The ends still haven't inflated fully yet, they are probably about 3 3/4" right now. The wire mesh was harder than it looked, I thought it would be springy from pictures. But it was not, it is welded and strong metal. Very flat and no spring to them. Which was even better. Then we added the mattress topper. Can I just say that this "temporary" bed is more comfortable now than my own bed? It is great for bad backs or side sleepers once you add the topper. The included mattress is very firm like the other people have said. The topper adds the perfect squishyness without compromising the firm base needed to keep your back straight. My brother is about 280lbs (give or take 20lbs) and a side sleeper. He said it was really comfortable when sleeping on his side without hurting his shoulder. If you are on the fence about ordering this due to other reviews saying the bed it too firm, get the topper I mentioned above! You will NOT be disappointed! I highly recommend this product.

What a great choice! The Milliard Diplomat was easy to assemble ...
We read all the reviews about the PREMIUM version of this bed and decided to go with the DIPLOMAT version because we don't want the bed to sag EVER. What a great choice! The Milliard Diplomat was easy to assemble and very lightweight considering the metal frame. My 90 year old mother-in-law spent the weekend with us and she loved it. She said it was the first time in years that she actually slept the ENTIRE night. She usually gets up often because of back pain or comfort issues. We are going to look into getting her a new mattress. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

I lay down upon it and I am 6' 3" and feel reasonably certain that I would get a good night's sleep upon it
I just received this bed so it is untested for wear and tear, but I must say I am initially impressed with its quality and construction. Please remember it is after all a "folding bed" and not your high-priced bedroom set. I lay down upon it and I am 6' 3" and feel reasonably certain that I would get a good night's sleep upon it. The mattress is as described, not more, no less. The four inch thickness will obviously not make your form fitted sheets exceedingly taut but I don't obsess about those things. (Use flat sheets if this is a concern with military cornering.) I purchased the twin size frame and there are no springs to break which was a concern of mine from reading other reviewers' experiences with bed springs. I was delighted with how easy it was to set-up. All the pieces (some screws and tools) were included and the instructions were clear (with diagrams!). Delivery and packaging were competent and timely. At this point in time I have nothing but satisfaction and contentment with the purchase. The months ahead could change my mind if the durability of the bed declines, but as of the present I highly recommend this product, especially for the purpose for which it is intended.

Quality Folding Bed
I've been sleeping for several weeks now in the Milliard Diplomat Folding Bed and it is very sturdy and and well built. I am a fairly big guy at 320 pounds and have had no issues with sagging or creaking. The memory foam mattress is quite comfortable, however, I do wish the mattress was a little thicker than 5 inches. I would recommend this bed.

Highly recommended.
This is a quality bed and I couldn't recommend it more highly. While on leave from the military, my wife and I have slept on a sleep-sofa several times while visiting my parents home. It was 20 plus years old with a 4 inch innerspring mattress. OMG, was that painful. It got so bad we dreaded visiting, and we ultimately purchased a blow-up mattress. That wasn't too bad, but no matter what brand of mattress, and no matter what price range we choose, we always seemed to lose a little air overnight. A little annoying, but mainly it just wasn't that sturdy, but still far better than the sleeper-sofa. Now, we have several visitors coming and we wanted to make everyone as comfortable as possible in out limited space. Considered purchasing a sleeper sofa, but couldn't in good conscience put anyone through that kind of pain. Considered purchasing a good quality air mattress, but was concerned about the slow air loss. In the end we decided to buy the best folding bed I could find, and the Milliard Diplomat reviews, along with the slightly higher price, prompted me to go with this. Boy am I glad I did! The frame certainly is sturdy and no doubt will last many, many years. My only recommendation is to be sure to let the vacuum packed mattress fully expand before use, or even trying it. After 24 hours I could still feel the frame bars under the mattress. After 48 hours I still felt the cross bars. Tzippora from Milliard contacted me offering to assit me, but after a week, all is well. I'm sure my granddaughter will love it!

Easy to Assemble and Stash When Not Needed - Plus Update
I put this bed together a few days ago by myself. I'm a average sized, 64 year old woman with some skills, but there really was no challenge, IMHO, but for the weight, which wasn't even an issue for me. All you need to do is screw in the threaded feet/wheels and the mattress supports on the ends. A ,pretty worthless, open end wrench and an allen wrench are provided for these tasks. You fold the sides up and lock them in place, then put both sides down, securing them as instructed, and lay the plastic enclosed, deflated mattress on, and carefully remove the plastic. You are instructed to leave the mattress re-inflate for a day or two for full comfort, as you need to do with most of these types of foam core mattresses. I made the bed, adding a slightly padded mattress cover, but haven't yet slept on it as it's at an apartment that we occasionally use throughout the year. I did lay on it and it seemed rather firm compared to my regular bed, but it had just been unwrapped an hour or so earlier. I will add to this review after having slept on it. It is a full sized twin bed, though the mattress is thin compared to a spring mattress, but I expected that. If I can't sleep well on it, I will look into adding a foam topper, but that remains to be seen. It's nice that it can be made even smaller and shorter for storage by folding the sides down again, as it was when shipped, which I wasn't aware you could do when I ordered it. I'm not sure how well the mattress would fold if doing this, but assume it would be doable as it's pliable foam. In my opinion, this is a much better alternative than a sofa-bed as a temporary sleeping arrangement, if you have the storage space. Even without yet actually sleeping through a night on it, it's more comfortable than any sofa-bed I've ever slept on as there are no rails poking you through the mattress. It's nice to have the space of a full sized twin too, and normal linens fit adequately. I'm hopeful that I can get a restful sleep and I will add to my review after actually spending nights on it. Edit - I finally have had a chance to sleep on this for a few nights. The first night, I have to say, did not go that well. The bed felt too hard and I didn't get a lot of sleep, in spite of being very tired. The next few nights, however, were MUCH better, and I slept without interruption for hours, which is uncommon for me even at home. The foam is supportive while being firm. I didn't miss the depth of mattress on a regular, spring type mattress. The full-sized twin is easy to sleep on without feeling cheated for space, though I'm not a large person at 5' 5" and average middle-age weight. I'm super happy with my purchase and recommend that you try it for a few nights before you pass judgement. I did put this mattress pad: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0756Y5LZ6/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_15 on it which added just a bit of pillowy softness on top.

The outer box was ripped and punched and in poor shape. The inner box was in perfect condition ...
This bed came in two boxes, one inside the other. The outer box was ripped and punched and in poor shape. The inner box was in perfect condition and had protected the bed. Good packaging. The bed came a day early and delivered right to my front door. All parts and tools were there to put it together. I am 82 years old and I put this bed together in half an hour. It was very easy to do. All parts fit well. I will give a hint to those who have never heard of this, should a screw not go in easy, use a bar or soap and rub the screw threads on the soap and they will go right in.The bed is very sturdy and the mattress is much better than I expected. It really puffs up overnight. I have only one complaint and that is the arms that lock the end legs in place are very hard to get in and out of place. This bed will be open most of the time so it is not a problem for me but might be for someone folding and unfolding it often. All and all, it is a great product.

Well made and comfortable for more than just a few nights
This folding bed is the best. My husband and I ordered it when I was diagnosed with an illness that required us to have family and friends staying here for a week or two at a time. We have just a small office for guests so we needed something that we could quickly set up and easily move out of the way during the day/between visitors. We considered a lot of options. I also read the reviews of the different Millard models before deciding to spend more on the Diplomat, and I'm so glad I did. The bed was just what I hoped it would be-- easy to roll/fold, even by myself; sturdy, firm enough to support but not uncomfortably hard; and long/wide enough for people like me who move around a lot. It fits along the wall behind the door in a small room and really doesn't take up much space. The mattress quality is excellent for a folding bed-- much better than other options I've tried over the years. The frame seems well made and is very, very sturdy-- no springing with each move. And the regular twin bed dimensions make it feel more like a "real" bed- it never feels like you have to balance on a plank like some narrower ones I've slept on. All of our guests said it was really comfortable for longer term. I thought maybe they were just being polite, but I ended up sleeping on it for a week recently, and honestly I never got tired of it. I have some back issues so was pleasantly surprised. I can set it up/take it down by myself without a problem (extend the legs *before* you undo the hook :0) ). We've had it for almost a year and a half now with people using it steadily for about 6 months last year and occasionally since then, and I don't notice a difference in the support/comfort. Honestly I can't think of any downsides-- money very well spent; it's going to our new house with us.

Spare bed..
Mattress is comfortable, very easy to put together. It does store nice. The reason for 4 stars and not 5 is the strap that holds the bed together when not in use snapped clean off the second use. UPDATE: The company was very responsive and is sending new straps, changing review to 5 stars as great customer service is paramount
