This works perfectly again and again over time because it is made differently than other cutters. You have to look at the back of it. 4 sharp cutting wheels whereas others are 2 blades held in place by 2 "screws" each. Those type work great until you hit your 6th use and the flimsy blades pop off. Gorilla glue can't even save them. This design is far superior to all the others out there on Amazon. I have waited to use it extensively at a party before posting this review. A no brainer. You will not be disappointed and will be pleasantly surprised to have something that works over and over again!

The foil cutter I had for many years finally broke this past Thanksgiving when my sister-in-law tried to use it. She had never seen a foil cutter so unfortunately I couldn't show her what a great gadget it is to have in the kitchen. I had received this one from an on line wine company I ordered wine from years ago- 1st time I ever heard of one. I knew I could not live without one so I immediately checked on Amazon, read the reviews on this one and ordered it. Good price and so far I have only l opened one wine bottle with it and it worked great! I like that it has little cutting wheels instead of just the solid razor type because it seems to cut the foil more smoothly. This will be great for cutting the foil tops off other bottles, like my balsamic vinegar bottles. I think I will order one for my sister-in-law next month for her birthday also.

Works great and comes in a very nice gift box. I have owned foil cutters that worked well, and some that required some elbow grease to do the job. The Edgy works as advertised, a quarter turn and done due to the 4 sharp wheels that do the cutting. If you currently use the "knife" that is built into many corkscrews to cut the foil, or you try to remove the foil by using the end of the corkscrew, do yourself a favor and get one of these. Those other methods are both frustrating and dangerous to fingers -- not to mention that your dinner guests are waiting impatiently, wine glasses in hand, wondering if your choice of wine might be as bad as your choice of tools. What's next, a coat hanger to dig out the cork? Part of the joy of a good bottle rests in the presentation, so get an Edgy and look like a pro.

I got the EDGY Wine Foil Cutter on an Amazon Lightning deal recently. This product does exactly what you'd expect it to, neatly and efficiently, and it comes in a very nice box. I have had a number of wine bottle foil cutters over the years, mostly very cheap ones, and have always been disappointed. The EDGY is priced like a bargain brand but the quality far exceeds that. Most of the cutters I've previously had required a full turn (or more) of the bottle to cleanly cut the foil. The EDGY instructions clearly state that a quarter turn is all you need and they are correct. I REALLY like this product and will not hesitate to buy another one when needed.

After running my cork screw through the foil cover of a new new bottle of pinot noir, uncorking, and pouring through a snaggled mess of ripped foil, hoping none would fall into my glass, my wife suggested there must be a better way. Well she was right. I received my Edgy Wine Foil Cutter a few days ago and life is good. I no longer look like a big hillbilly trying to be sophisticated. It seems I'm well on my way of becoming a wine snob. The company cares about its product and goes out of its way to make sure their customers are happy with their purchase.

I love the edgy. Especially when it’s new, it completely lives up to its promise. A half turn or even a quarter turn sets you up to pull the cork out. It eventually becomes dull or, as with our last edgy, breaks. But that’s not going to deter me from buying another. Don’t expect it to last more than a couple of years, but it’s the best foil cutter I’ve found. If anyone has found a better one, please let us know.

I have purchased multiple wine foil cutters--none of which were especially cheap--and they were all very ineffective (e.g. had to press really hard and twist for an extended period of time). With this wonderful product, it takes almost no effort--simply turn once and it will cut through foil and even the cheaper materials that some wine makers use that are similar to plastic. Highly recommend.

No more fussing with the foil on wine bottles or rough edges from badly cut foils! This foil cutter easily and cleanly cuts through the foil around the top of wine bottles. Very little force or skill is required! It comes in a stylish red box with a moulded inside to fit the cutter. Certainly gift-able

I see one of the categories to rate is "giftable". Yes, it comes in a rather nice box. I think the box probably cost more than the cutter itself. If it keeps on cutting I'll be happy with it.

A small and simple device for a small and simple function, and yet it's totally satisfying that it works just right. Having had a Screwpull version for decades, I bought the EDGY as a gift for my son. It is more flexible material than the Screwpull and, with a little squeeze and turn, the foil is neatly off the bottle. And, by the way, the company that makes the EDGY is a truly friendly pleasure to communicate with.
