Okay, don't get me wrong, weights are WEIGHTS. But the way these weights are produced and firmed in nice, and smooth plating of rubber makes it even better. I've tried Walmart weights and Walmart's weights don't come close to these bad boys. They reduce the amount of callus you get if you don't use gloves, and they have a spot in the middle were you place your grip at, which allows for comfortable positions. Overall, using weights for months, these are the best I've come across, and for a pretty reasonable price as well. They don't rip you off like most companies do, they value the customers. I gotta give this 5 stars. It's my top recommendation, and I'll definitely be getting more higher weights in the close future! If this is your first time using weights, these puppies will get you into weight lifting much more better than any other dumbbells will. TRUST ME!

These dumbbells are perfect and very good quality, just as good as any other brand as far as I'm concerned. I've got some old York's that I've had for 38 years and these are just as good. The York's are not rubber encased but are high quality and back then York was just about the only brand out there. The smell you keep reading about? It's a non issue as far as I'm concerned. I just bought 3 pair of these dumbbells and came home and my house smells like the Dial soap I used this morning and the one spray of Giorgio cologne I put on before going to work. Nice Bells.

I had gym memberships for the last 10 years and then finally started building my own home gym. These dumbbells are just as good as the hex rubber dumbbells commonly seen at modern gyms. I've purchased pairs of 15, 20, 40, and 50 lbs, and I'm working on adding more over time. Only shame is that they don't offer weights past 50 lbs. A side note, one of the 40lb dumbbells were a little deformed at the ends (bulged out a little on the ends). This probably wouldn't have been too much of an issue but I went through the return program and had it replaced. I was able to keep using the dumbbell until the new one arrived, and then sent back the defective one. If you're spending a lot of money on weights, make sure they're perfect and don't settle for less!

These are excellent weights! I recently purchased 25 lb hand weights (set of two). The weights themselves seem balanced/symmetrical and my two weights seem identical. The weighted ends seem securely attached to the handles. I purchased a similar style of 15 lb hand weights years ago from Target and one of the weighted ends has a little play in how it's attached to the handle. I should've just returned them but there wasn't a huge selection. Regardless, the two weights don't feel symmetrical/identical psychologically I feel like i have to switch hands for different sets. The weights I just purchased, however, are sturdy and well-made. When I'm ready for 30 lb'ers I'll be looking here first!

These weights are great quality and the grip is comfortable. There is an "oil" that is on the rubber which runs onto the grip during shipping. I cleaned off this oil with some greased lightning and then wiped them down again with water and then dried them off. This removed all of the oil and the smell associated with the manufacturing process. Some of the smell lingered for a few days in my workout room, but it went away after about two weeks. I will buy more of these AmazonBasics weights to complete my weight bench set. They are great for the price and much more reasonable than any of the name brand weights.

Except for not having a name brand on them they are well worth the money and not all sloppily made and are quite uniform.I like them and will buy more. The people that complain about the smell are right in that they do smell but a simple wipe down with some soapy water and some fresh air and your good.I'd rather have to clean a smelly dumbell than to get a rusted up one..Just buy'em you'll be happy you did..

Really great quality for the price. I'd like to see Amazon make barbells too!

I read a lot of reviews before taking the risk and buying this. The big question from the reviews is, does it smell so bad that it is not usable? Here is the answer. The dumbells are well packaged in plastic. Yes they smell a little like new tires at the beginning. But the smell dissipates after a few days. I took the plastic off and they don't smell any more. Yes, obviously if you put your nose on top of it, you can smell the rubber. But it's nothing at all like room filling odor. You cannot smell it at all in the room where the dumbells are sitting. And these are high quality, well made dumbbells. I highly recommend them.

Nice weights good price. They do smell like new tires when you first get them. This is one reason brick and mortar stores sell rubber coated dumbbells out of the box. To avoid this you can buy neoprene ones at more then twice the price, or just let these sit in a well ventilated area for a while.

Exactly what I wanted. Yes it does smell of rubber at first but, the smell goes away. A lot of reviewers were mad about this? Great product. I use it several times a week no issues!
