Very fresh and tasty. I like to sprinkle it on steak and make with guindilla peppers or patron peppers I grow in the summer time. Went to San Sebastián area of Spain and they use this. That area is very close to France.

A Different Pepper
I loved the cuisine in the Basque region of France, and decided to give this a try. I love the flavor, and have used it several times on chicken and fish.

If you haven’t tested Basque pepper before, this is your chance. If piment d’Espelette is your daily staple, you will be happily surprised. Flavorful, mildly spiced, incomparable. I need to reorder now.

A nice alternative to black pepper
Piment d’Espelette is a dried red chili pepper that makes an excellent condiment. It’s a good alternative to black pepper, as it has a bit more tang and adds a slight smoky flavor. It’s not as hot as cayenne. The Matiz pepper tasted very fresh and I’ll enjoy adding it to sauces and sprinkling it on vegetables.

Basque Essential
Came in an air sealed jar, and is very fresh. It is pretty essential for Basque dishes. I used it to make piperade and poulet basque. Did it’s job perfectly!
