I recently bought my first pricy cutting board and found out I needed to treat it with oil/wax. I was horrified at the idea of using a petroleum product (mineral oil) on something that my food would go on, regardless of the fact that it was "food grade." I use the oil after each use and the wax about once a week. It seems to be doing the trick and I am very happy that there is an safer alternative available. I will repurchase when I run out

What can you say about cutting board oil and wax? These products certainly do the job for which they were intended. After washing my new bamboo cutting board and letting it dry it looked dry and , well, ugly. I applied one coat of the Caron & Doucet oil and it immediately was returned to its pre-wash luster and beauty. I oiled it two more times, letting it soak in for eight hours or more. After oiling it three times to get it thoroughly saturated I applied a coat of the wax. After each use I wash my board, let it air dry and apply another coat of oil. When I first received the bottle of oil I was surprised at how small it seems but after oiling my board several times I can say the bottle will last longer than I would have originally estimated, and I apply it quite liberally. The only other thing to be said is that if it matters to you, these products are vegan and contain only products derived from plants.Overall, I am very pleased with these products.

I built a 20"x24" bread board using hard maple and didn't want it cracking from the dry winter air. I needed to keep it oiled, but with what? Mineral oil, made from petoleum? Not a chance! I researched the web and found this. I've used coconut oil for quite a many uses around the house and thought it was quite stable, never turning rancid. But, Caron & Dout refines it more so it can't turn bad. Opening the oil first, it smells lemony like pledge but there is nothng to the taste, meaning nothing transferring to foods that come in contact. I applied 3 coats of oil over 24 hours to the dry wood and then applied the wax a day later. I could not been any more proud of any of my finishes I've done in the past. My board has a warm honey tone and feels smooth and slick and water doesn't absorb at all. Best thing is that I know it's safe! Great Product!

I have been very pleased with both the oil and wax finishing products. I am a volunteer at the San Diego Maritime Museum and make several different items to sell in our gift shop. I am now using your product extensively and have no complaints whatsoever in the finish.

Used the oil on an old board that I have. Totally Amazed at the way the oil rejuvenated this board. I have not used the Wax on this board, however. I am Totally Impressed at the use of coconut in these two products instead of mineral oil.I never knew that with cutting board oils and waxes, there was more than one option for the contents of such oils and waxes. This gives us, the consumers, a choice to experience the best of both worlds. I'm sure that the wax will perform as well as the oil, when I get around to waxing this very old and well used board. I does look and feels Great! I am going to order more of the oil, and I guess the wax too, as they are sold as a set. Thank You!!

We have almost 12 feet of cutting board counters in our kitchen and that's a lot of wood to take care of. I have been using an inexpensive cutting board oil from Ikea and thought I was getting a good deal. I had no idea I was having to use such a large quantity compared to what was possible. This oil and the sealing wax are luxurious, penetrating and I use 1/10 I was compared to the cheap stuff. I conditioned my boards about 2 weeks ago when I first got the kit and I have put a little wax in the spots where I cut frequently maybe twice over that time to keep the seal uniform. My cutting boards look better than they ever have, and are very moisture-resistant now. I also got the applicator with my kit and find it to be very useful especially in touch ups. It's easy to hold, fits my small hands and allows me to touch up we're needed without getting oil or wax all over my hands.

A woodworker at a craft fair told me about this oil/wax for cutting boards and I'm so glad she did. In addition to having cutting boards, i have an eight foot long butcher block dining table. We live in a dry climate, so I have been searching for something that is food safe that will help protect the wood. This wax and oil set has been perfect! I rubbed in the oil twice, letting it set overnight between applications. Then I rubbed on the wax. The table has never looked so nice and it's had over a month of normal use and shows no signs of drying. The essential oils even provide a light, pleasant smell as you work, but no residual smell that would ruin dinner. I love this stuff!

I love this combination of wax and oil for my cutting board. The wax acts as a protective barrier for board and the oil keeps it conditioned. i never used the combination of the wax and oil, I didn't realize I needed both. If you love your cutting board ( mine was special made by my son as a gift to me) and want the best for it I would highly recommend this brand and combination of oil and wax. I like that is it food safe. I will be using this brand and combination from now on, and I will be recommending it to my friends and family. Love it

We have an untreated (naked) walnut island with a sink in our kitchen. It is gorgeous wood to look at and it feels great too. Problem is, it needs to be treated with something, especially around the sink where it gets wet frequently. I searched long and hard for a product to apply to it which doesn't contain petroleum or animal products. I found Caron & Doucet Cutting Board Oil and Wax on Amazon and decided to give it a go. WOW. Seriously, this oil and wax combo makes my island look and feel super sexy. It gives life to the whole piece and protects it. Water beads up and is easy to wipe off. Plus, it's petroleum free and vegan so you don't have to worry about weird chemicals getting into your food. I enjoy applying the oil and wax with my bare hands, too. It smells delicious. Oh, and we also use it on our cutting board which is what the product is intended for, but you could use it on any untreated wood surface.

I restored a very old inherited maple cutting board that had not been cared for more than 10 years that I know of as it had been in storage. I sanded it lightly. Luckily it had no cracks or splitting but it really felt "hairy". It took several heavy coats of the oil as it soaked in. The board went from a very pale dry wood to a rich honey color and is silky smooth and looks like new. I got much better results than I could have dreamed of as I thought I could just get it useable. Now it is so beautiful it has earned a permanent place on the counter Wish I had taken before and after photos of it to prove just what it did for me.
