I bought this under the recommendation of my friend. It is amazing! Just put in some newspapers at the bottom and light it up, then put charcoal over the flame. That's it! Then just wait about 10-15 min, the coals are ready to put on the grill. No need of flammable liquids. Very safe and convenient. With the help of this chimney starter, I can make backyard BBQ for my kids by myself!

Don't bbq without it!

This product has made me use our bbq a lot more, and I have stopped using our big top of the line gas grill. This makes lighting the coals so easy! It is less messy, and it is very easy to use. BUY ONE! I have one at home and one at our summer cottage. I think they are all about the same, but I chose this one because it had the largest measurements. They all look terrible once you have used them a few times, but who cares. I would avoid the black ones because everyone seems to write that the paint comes off, which can't be good for you as it will end up on the bbq.

A good introductory chimney starter.

After watching a youtube vid of a guy using a chimney starter and claiming to no longer need lighter fluid, I decided to get one myself. Since I'm new to this, I decided with this brand since it was cheap, and looked like a good product. It works as expected, with no lighter fluid, which shocked me! I recommend this for those new to grilling, or chimney starters, and I know eventually I will buy a bigger chimney in the future. My one nitpick is that even filled to it's max with charcoal, there wasn't enough charcoal for my 22 inch grill, so I had to light up 2 batches of charcoal. So if you have a bigger grill, either do as I did, buy 2 of these smaller charcoal chimneys and light them at the same time, or just buy a bigger version to light at the charcoal you need at once. I'm still amazed that no lighter fluid was needed. At last, no lingering lighter fluid taste on my food.

Good value

I've used this starter about five times now. I was worried that some more expensive chimney starters have more of a grill on the bottom and this one only has large holes. However, this doesn't seem to matter as the charcoal lights just fine. I can see how some people might think their starter didn't come with the necessary screws as they are small and packaged somewhat loosely. For the price, this is a solid value.

Where has this thing been all of my life?

Love it! My hubby picked this model because it seems to hold more charcoal than some other versions do. I can't stand using lighter fluid any more but really didn't want to have to get a gas grill. It did arrive missing one screw (pretty universal-the Mr. found one out in the garage that would work with a quickness), and the seller offered to send me a new handle assembly & gave me a 20% credit for the inconvenience even though I said it wasn't necessary. Great customer service!
