I use these stands with Bowen’s mounts and giant soft boxes. These stands are crazy sturdy and have never let me down. I was pleasantly surprised when they areived in the mail because I wasn’t expecting much for the price. The carrying bags have also held up and show no wear. If you are considering an amazon basics light stand, click the button and try it, you won’t regret it!

I'm a professional photographer and videographer and though these stands aren't "professional grade" I have many uses for them when I need to position auxiliary equipment in corners or out of the way. I've mounted strobes on top (1/4-20 threaded post is standard), clipped audio mics on the post, clipped gopro cameras and basically any small piece of gear that you need to give some support to. There is a nice white line on the lower segment which indicates exactly where the legs should be positioned for maximum stability. QUIET - set up makes no noise, the legs slide into position and secure with no metal-to-metal noise. The segments slide up and down through plastic grommets/sleeves which also make no distracting noise. The locks don't make any loud "click" when opened or closed. HOLDS POSITION - Once the vertical shafts are locked into place, there is no drifting or slipping. BLACK IS GREAT - Black is the best color for light stands like these as they don't reflect light, draw attention, or show up in reflective surfaces. FIRM TOP THREADED POST - Some of the other economy stands I have, develop a little "play" in the top aluminum post which also has the 1/4 - 20 thread on top. This is firmly in place with no wiggle to it at all. I have to say that for this price, this is absolutely the BEST light stand I could find anywhere. TALL - Put a GoPro or small video camera on this and you can get the action without worrying that someone stands up right in front of it, unless they are seven feet tall! Do I recommend it? Absolutely, without hesitation! The included zippered bags are nice, but I just toss those. Need support for your small umbrella, softbox or auxiliary gear? Look no further, I'm very satisfied. Get a microphone above the crowd, or post that LED Light. More uses than I have time to describe. In the photos, I'm using SmallRig clamps... great accessories for these stands.

Much better than the rest of the super cheap stands on Amazon, like the Eemart. I have one of those and the Amazon Basics stand is far sturdier with higher build quality. Better construction and materials. Wish I'd looked at this one before getting the Eemart! Recommend. Great value.

These are my first stands so I don't have a frame of comparison but I think they're great for the price. Construction seems good, they are very compact and portable for transportation and they are stable with my 24" Neewer softbox and speedlight combos, even on carpet. I like that they have 1/4-20 threaded studs on top so I can mount the flashes to them directly if I want to use them without softboxes. I know that's a pretty standard thing on all light stands but at this price point it's nice that no corners were cut. I am just getting into portraits and my whole lighting setup is very "budget" and I am very pleased with these stand so far for what I paid.

Here's the thing.. I got the 2 pack of these at under twenty five bucks. I review lights on youtube, and need tons of light stands. I break things. I have expensive C stands, heavy duty light stands, and cheap ebay stands.. it says these are only rated for 7 pounds.. I've put an Arri skypanel s30c on it (25 pounds) and it wouldn't remain extended, obviously. Surprisingly, I can get about 15 pounds of equipment on this (as long as I'm careful) and it holds up just fine, so long as I'm indoors. It's the absolute cheapest light stand and it works fantastically. If you break or lose it, who cares. It's SO cheap. Just buy it, and if you need something stronger, go get a C stand.

This thing is amazing. I searched the internet for inexpensive light stands and could find almost none that support this much weight. It's perfect and is also really tall (although don't load a lot of weight at its tallest length). I'm using this stand with my Cineo Maverick ($2000 light), because I travel and needed something light. Will be using this stand for a fat minute.

These are so cheap. How is it possible? Any other brand I would have never bought but this is Amazon Basics, shipped and sold by Amazon, and I needed these for in-studio use so they'll never travel and they will rarely be moved. Wow. Yes, stability could be better and when fully extended they are rocking a little bit, weighted bags solved that problem. Outside of this one issue, these are a tremendous value. They are very lightweight, the flip clip locks are easier and faster to use than turn and lock, and they can extend so high I need a step stool to control the lights. Consider me very surprised when I was at a professional shoot a few weeks ago and saw that the photographers were using these stands for snoots. Unless you have a true heavy duty need, these will suffice for many situations.

I bought these because they were cheap, I did not expect them to good quality at all. I was debating on buying a more expensive one which I thought would be better for 50$ each. These are made with high quality materials and are durable. I saved 75$

I love these the build quality the size is 6 feet tall and I currently use these on a regular basis. I plan to find more as a backup even though I don't think it will ever need to be replaced I just like to do it for the peace of mind, and I shoot a lot on location. Build quality and durability is 10 out of 10. The butterfly nut like system is less than desirable in doesn't look like it's going to hold up but I haven't had any problem with durability and it hasn't collapsed on me at any time and it is very tight as you opening and closing it as you need to. I never have had sandbags on my speed lights. Most of my on location work is done inside the person's home. But there is a place to put a sandbags if you want to. I just recently purchased some sandbags but up to this point I have never had to use them you until this day. The only reason why purchased them is so I can use them outside.

It's perfect for what I needed, a stand to light up my desk/art area while working. Beats more nails in the walls, and does what it's supposed to do. So far seeing the quality as pretty good, fasteners are clips rather than screw-type which is different, but all appears tight and sturdy. As to the 'wobbly', you're going to get that or some...you can steady with sandbags or such, but logically there'll still be some play the higher you go. If you're careful about not bumping into them, they should hold a decent strobe or lightbox fine. I can see them holding a little more weight than what I'm using here. I would use for simple photo shoots as well. Perk: came with a storage bag for each. Neat :)
