As I have only had this Foval trickle charger for a few days I can give you a beginning review and will update as more time progresses. This trickle charger is very impressive. It feels good in your hands despite being a little light. It has premium connections and joints meaning it looks as if it is put together very well and will last a long time. I am using this charger in my travel case boom box. It is hardwired into 2 - 7Ah 12 lead acid batteries that power the whole thing. The breakaway power cord is awesome and helps with the amount of wires I needed to hide in the box. Overall the charger indicates well when it is charging and when the batteries are full very clearly. I wish there was more data in between those points that was displayed but it is really of little concern as long as it is charging. I look forward to how this item holds up long term in my application. It is a unique situation that creates more shakes and rattles than most. It will certainly test the overall build quality. As of now I am very impressed with it.

One of the things I like about Amazon is the feedback system. It can be especially helpful when you have limited experience with an item or brand. While not an expensive item, I did want to get a trickle charger that I would be happy with so I not only reviewed all the features and prices but also the feedbacks - and I came up with the Foval. Great price and full featured with the simplest operation and confirmed by really really good feedback. Now that I have mine in and have used it (and bought a second for my other garden tractor) I think I made a really good choice and can agree with a 4.8+ star positive rating. Just connect the leads and plug it in. No settings, no buttons, switches, etc. The lights tell you the status and you are in business. AND the cords are long enough that I did not have to deal with extension cords.

Loads of features and safety in a tiny package. Chargers have come a long way since the last unit my family purchased in the 80's(the previous device was an angular box with sharp edges, itself the size of a 12v car battery and much heavier than the product I'm reviewing, and had no safety features). I used it and a jug of distilled water to bring my car's battery back to life after it was drained from a lack of electrolyte. After a few days of slow trickle charging, I put it in the vehicle and it fired right up. The additional harness to allow charging while the battery is in the vehicle is a fantastic touch. I also appreciate how long the power cord is; I'd anticipated it being much shorter. Note that this is a trickle charger; if you're looking for something to jump start your car, look elsewhere.

I got this to replace a Harbor Freight cheap charger I used 1 year before it stopped. On sale this was about 2 times that so if it passes the 2 year mark I am ahead. I placed it on 3 batteries, car back up, a motor cycle, and a scooter. Each charged up readily. The car took longer and did not get to 13 volts, but close. The 2 smaller batteries did get to 13 volts. Not an expert on batteries but I learned if you keep them on a slow charge they last longer. I have it off the batteries now to see how long the charge lasts. The car battery is for jump starts. I found keeping an old battery, and having it charged negates the need to buy an expensive car jump box thing. My old battery was from the last time I got a new one, and was in fair shape. Not turning it in cost me the $10 exchange fee, so for $10 I have a back up jump starter I can use with the jumper cables I already have. I will update if any thing changes. For the price I am satisfied. It just has small lights but the expensive ones with all the meters does not help.

After researching trickle chargers and reading the reviews of all of them I could find, I chose this one based on those reviews. After reading reading a review of how another trickle charger made by another company actually caught on fire, I was hesitant to buy one at all because it will be used to keep my breakaway trailer battery charged during long-term storage. In the winter, my expensive cruiser. The Foval charger had the best reviews and the lowest negative reviews so I ordered it. Shipping was fast, the product seems well made and the price is right. I plugged it in and it's working. It's as simple as that. Of course, only time will tell if there's an issue but I will update this review if there is.

The problem with many trickle chargers is that you fear overcharging the battery due to neglect and run the risk of burning your house down. This is NOT a problem with this charger. When the battery is topped off, it goes into a maintenance state, and there is no risk of fire. I use this charger with confidence and security! An excellent buy!

I live in Japan. Long Story Short Version - After WWII, Japan received help from both the USA and England in rebuilding their electrical power infrastructure. The result is that parts of the country run on 50 Hz while other parts run on 60 Hz. I happen to live in the 50 Hz zone, so when I import electric-powered goods, it's hit and miss what will work. Case in point, my Chamberlain garage door opener. It sat for 6 years without being used because it never worked properly. I went through everything I could think of (including days on the phone with Chamberlain [warranty voided automatically]) but could never make it work. A few months ago, at a friend's house, he opens the garage door with a Chamberlain! His house is almost 100% off-grid. What he discovered was ... when he switches over to grid-power, he opener also doesn't work. The answer was in his main power, with was run by an inverter that outputs 110V@60 Hz. NOTE:I also tried a step-up converter to go from 100V to 120V, but that didn't do anything. My solution was to buy an inverter (120V@60Hz) and hook it up the same way my friend did, which worked. The final piece of the puzzle was 'how to keep the battery fully charged'. Ideally I could run the trickle charger from the inverter and have the electric charger equivalent of a perpetual motion machine, however ... it doesn't work. So, I'm running both a solar panel charger (during the day) and the trickle charger (at night) and it works brilliantly. SIDENOTE: With the inverter running 24/7, it draws down just enough power overnight that the inverter will not work in the morning. (For anyone who's interested, the REAL problem is my battery doesn't have enough Ah. At only 28 - the smallest battery I could find - it's not enough. If I double the Ah [which I did for a test - wife was gone for the weekend, so I pulled the battery out of the Honda Fit and connected it to the inverter battery with jumper cables] it lasts for 3 days without a charge. And I'll bet I cycled the opener at least 10 times a day.) I bought this charger figuring that I wasn't losing much $$ if it didn't work correctly, and if it DID work, but the charger burned out quickly I would just buy another, stronger charger. So far, no complaints at all. It's a great value and with the ring connectors, it was a snap to hook up to my system.

It works great and recharged my fully discharged car battery in about 22 hours. Customer service is excellent as well. Be aware, however, that the instructions that I received with my unit said that the unit is not properly charging if the middle led light is not "twinkling", whereas the unit itself says there is an error in charging if it IS "twinkling". The answer is, if you see a steady red in the middle led, it is charging properly and the red will turn to green when fully charged.

Update - I bought 3 more to maintain my boat batteries while stored in garage for the winter. Cheaper than buying multi bank chargers, and very effective. I was fortunate enough to have a compatible plug already installed on my motorcycle. Plugged into a battery too weak to turn the bike over, left it charging overnight and it brought the battery up perfectly. Great for winter battery maintenance! An update: I received a nice email from the seller. They requested I review the product which I had already done, but they also reminded me of the 18 mo warranty. A good sign of a good seller imo.

I was skeptical if this would work for my truck battery since there are contradictions in the description. One statement shows it will work on any battery, and another shows motorcycle batteries. Anyway, my battery was so weak it would not start the truck and I thought about buying a new one. But, it was not completely dead, so a trickle charger was my next thought. After reading the instructions, I followed the steps, and the charger showed it was charging the battery. After letting it charge for a couple days, the indicator light showed it was fully charged. I hopped in and it cranked up right away! The weather was very cold, below 15 degrees F, which was partly responsible for the issue. I'm keeping the charger hooked up to the battery since I don't drive very often. Great deal!
