Really works!

Our Wii console had been sitting on the table for months ever since we purchased a newer model tv. For some reason the A/V connection never worked with the new tv. After seeing the reviews these was worth a try. Read the instructions, connected the cables and powered up the Wii. Back in business. Since then, the family has been using it almost every day. As for picture and sound quality, well the picture isn't as crisp as newer game consoles but it is still good. You may have different results depending on your tv and its picture settings. No difference on sound quality. I would suggest that you purchase new HDMI cables for this as this may make a difference.

Plug and Play

Works great! The Wii had been sitting downstairs unused. I was a little worried that it might not work on our TV. We have a 65" OLED LG TV and it looks great!

40"+ TV

The picture is great on my 65" 4k TV. I read a review that said not to use on a TV greater then 40". As you can see from the picture it looks great! Just keep in mind that the Wii is not a 4k gaming PC. I have no lines through the picture and the sound level is just fine. Not to low and not to high. No distortion. I now have the use of my Wii back.

Works great!!!

I used this to hook up my Wii and this took about 5 seconds to install and worked like a charm on my new Samsung smart tv. Much better picture than with the old rca cables and at least we can now use the Wii again since my TV has no rca jacks. If you are looking for something to be able to hook your Wii up to your tv that has no rca plugs, this is it!

Does exactly what it says it does.

Thanks to the lack of component video support in most TVs and nearly all decent AV receivers, I was in need of an alternative that did not involve S-VHS or composite video. when I saw this, I though "what do I have to lose?" so I bought one. I plugged it in and ran an HDMI cable to a input on my Denon AVR-S500BT which feeds to my 55" Vizio E55D-U2 4K monitor. It worked immediately. The only thing I had to do was change the monitor's aspect to widescreen. I spent most of yesterday playing Metroid Prime (GCN) on my Wii and the video was just as good as the component video cable I had been using. It has met my expectations, so far. My Vizio supports component video, but only has one port and I have at least three devices that need to hook up. I have ordered a similar device for my PS2. Here's hoping....

Great customer service READ WHOLE REVIEW

The item displays the picture, however the image has red lines constantly crossing through, making it look ugly. I hope there is some way to fix this. Please help, thanks. Update: company has emailed me and stated mine might be defective, and offered me replacement. Hopefully it fixes the lines problem, if so, will change from 3 to 5 stars. Update: New converter is fantastic! Looks way better, thank you porholic for your fantastic customer service? Really shows how much they care! 5 stars!

If you have realistic expectations, I highly recommend.

I had my Wii connected to my 4K TV through component cables, but like most TVs these days I had to use the supplied component adaptors that connect through 3.5mm jacks and the picture was terrible. Bleeding colors and blurriness among other problems and I figured even a bad HDMI adaptor would be an improvement. I tried to research these adaptors before buying one because there are so many different listings and I didn't want to end up with a cheap one that was going to break. So after combing through them all I decided on this one and so far I'm quite pleased. The fit and finish and overall construction of the unit is higher quality than many of the others. The plastic doesn't feel cheap and the pieces fit together we'll. The difference in picture quality is what really blew me away. Most people will not notice a huge difference, especially if they have actual component inputs on their TV instead of the 3.5mm adaptors. The Wii is incapable of outputting a true HD 1080p so this small adaptor is not going to change that. So if you are purchasing this because you think it's going to make your Wii look like a PS3, you will be sorely disappointed. If however you are in a similar situation to mine and have realistic expectations, then I highly recommend this Portholic Wii HDMI converter.

Happy with the choice

It just works and looks great. Sure, it doesn't magically turn your Wii into a HD picture, but it looked great on a projection of about 70 inches. I'll have to give it the time test and update if things start to go bad. Update: After being about 10.5 months old, the audio started being a problem. First it was a crackling sound that happened a few times, then the audio completely stopped. I wrote to Portholic about it and they suggested trying to the 1/8" output. It worked, but was also fuzzy. I tried multiple cables and input to the TV. It didn't solve the problem. They sent me a new one QUITE quickly and the new one works just fine. Hopefully this one lasts longer, but their support was very good.

Easy to install. Works perfect. I didn't see a super HD image quality but my purpose was to eliminate the RCA cables.
