So much better then traditional monitors
We have two of these now for about 7-8 months and couldn’t be happier. There are some drawbacks to getting a WiFi monitor vs a traditional one that I will get into later. But here are some of the features. Picture Quality: Far superior then traditional and more than adequate. There are times when baby has started to fuss and we could zoom in to face and see if pacifier is still in. If not we can see where it is, if it fell out of crib, etc. Viewing monitor: When we got 2nd arlo it came with free fire HD 8 and we basically use it as a dedicated monitor. There is really no comparison between checking baby on an 8 inch tablet vs those little 3 inch screens. We also frequently use our phones to check which works great. User Access: Some other comment mentioned how mom and dad can’t both check at the same time so I wanted to mention that’s completely wrong. In arlo you can create multiple accounts that can access/view simultaneously. Only one view per account, but multiple accounts is allowed and works. Recording: 7 days of recordings free with arlo. We turned this off since we didn’t want recordings of our little ones online. This is your choice and configurable. Alerts: We don’t really use the alerts so can’t comment. I don’t see the need for a monitor since we prefer to have volume on and just be able to hear little one. Listen Mode: I love this feature and use it all the time. Sometimes while working in yard while it’s nap time I’ll just put my phone in listen mode in my pocket and can hear when baby starts to stir. Air Quality: The temperature and air quality features are nice bonus. I have a few portable temperature monitors in the house to track how well I’m Hvac system is working and I’ve been able to put them else where and just use arlo for kids rooms. Other features: You can talk to baby through monitor if you want. This works but we don’t use it often. The monitor also has some night light and jingle feature that are sub par. We use a separate sound machine / night light that works better. Battery/Portability Having the camera battery is a nice feature. We don’t take advantage of it often since kids nap in crib most of the time. But like all parents we’ve had those days where baby wouldn’t go to bed and we’ve had to improvise. Whether that means sleeping in car seat or swing or some other contraption, we’ve had success in unplugging arlo from power source and running off batter to monitor baby in a different room. WiFi Monitor drawbacks: These are drawbacks of all WiFi monitors not just arlo. One is delay. I found the delay in old video monitor to be about 1 second while arlo can be 3-5 seconds. Not a big deal to me. Another is initial connection time. Old video monitor would connect right away. Arlo can take longer for initial connection. Usually 5-10 seconds, but there have been occasions where it hangs a bit and I would just kill the app and start over, usually getting in quickly on second attempt. This is very infrequent and really not a big deal. Other Comments: A lot of reviews talk about connection issues. In 7ish months we had one issue where we had to reboot an arlo. Other then that it’s worked fine. If you have a decent WiFi setup in your house you shouldn’t have any issues. We have two WiFi access points in my house for better coverage. Security is often a concern with WiFi monitors. Arlo takes this seriously and allows you to use strong passwords and user access controls. There are other inherent risks to IoT devices that I will not get into here but arlo controls are pretty good in this space.

Exactly what we wanted
The Arlo baby monitor is great! Our son is one year old and until now we could hear when he was awake because he would scream at the top of his lungs. He has started to sleep better, and to be okay by himself in his crib if he wakes up, so we wanted something so that we could keep an eye on him without going into his room. The camera portion works great. Some people have said that they have difficulty streaming the video but we have never had a problem. The best part about it though is that it can send you notifications when your baby moves, makes sounds, or cries. This is really nice to have in the morning so I know when he is starting to wake up, without having to have the video on all the time and watching it. Overall great product, easy to use, very happy with it.

Clearest Baby monitor around
I absolutely love our new Arlo Baby Monitor! I was a little nervous to purchase a camera without remote pan and tilt, but you do not need it with the Arlo. If you mount it high enough on the wall you can see the entire room! The clarity of the camera is amazing. I can zoom in on her bed to see what she is doing and it doesn’t get grainy like our old monitor did. Zoom functions on most baby monitors are useless but not with this one! My daughter loves the night light on it and I love that you can adjust the dimness on it. You can even pick what color you want the night light to be. I chose red because studies show red helps your brain to relax. I’ll do what ever it takes to get my toddler to settle down for the night! She also loves that it plays music. It is pretty decent sounding, not electronic sounding like other monitors that I’ve seen play music. You can even set the music to a timer. Initial set up to our internet was a little tricky but it is perfect now. I haven’t had any issues of it going offline. I love that I can check in on her on my iPhone when we have a babysitter. It’s nice to see she is all settled in her bed. For the sitter to view, we have the Arlo app on our iPad Air. It looks great on that big screen! I am very happy with my choice to try out a new monitor. We switched to this one when our old Infant Optics died and we loved that one, so that says something right there! *update- I haven’t had any connectivity issues or app issues with iOS. Still very pleased with this Monitor. I do not have it run all night. I use a basic sound monitor at night and turn this on to check on her. I do use it continuously at nap time though since she doesn’t always sleep.

Love this camera
I love this camera. We have a summer infant optics and we think this one has way better clarity. Haven’t had issues as some other reviewers. It picks up all sorts of noises which is hilarious but you can adjust the settings. Works great with my Echo show and same on phone. Only problem is there is a 2/3 second delay but we experienced that with our other camera too and it’s not wireless. If you hit the just exit and hit live it catches up. This is a game changer on being able to move it from room to room and I can get breakfast or lunch done. FYI- I might be slightly bias as my 2 year old son is named Arlo. Hahaha but in all honesty- we really do love this camera. Arlo calls it Arlo bunny, it’s cute!!

Keeps my memory impaired mother safe!
Using my Arlo Baby cam to keep my mother safe and healthy in her memory care facility. She suffers from dementia and needs to be monitored to stay safe and comfortable. As I live across the country I needed tools to watch over her and even though I had installed Arlo Pro cameras in her room for video and audio surveillance, I still needed to keep an eye on the temperature, humidity and air quality. Se will often adjust the thermostat because she is “cold” and the next thing you know she’s sitting in a 90 degrees environment wondering why she’s uncomfortable. Now I can assess the environment and then call the facility staff to make any necessary adjustments! Thanks Arlo!

More features than I thought
My favorite features are: 1) Always Listening mode where the iPhone app continuously plays live audio from the camera even when the app is closed or the phone is locked. 2) Instant notifications for sound/crying/humidity/temperature. These are all different types of notifications you may receive. 3) Excellent night vision! Less-favorite parts: 1) Sometimes the video is a bit laggy and the video doesn't update for several minutes after loading the app. The HomeKit app actually seems to work more reliably in this area. 2) Sometimes the aforementioned notifications are misleading. They are so instant than you will get some anomalies in the sensor readings and be needlessly alerted. Since that data isn't critical I would like to see the notification only if the reading is outside the determined zone for an average over time.

Great Baby Monitor
I love Arlo Baby. Set up takes a few minutes, but you should spend a bit more time customizing your notification settings. Out of the box I found I was getting an obscene number of Alerts on my phone for motion detection. Every time a person or pet walked by the front door of the nursery it would set off an alert. Repositioning the monitor to point into a corner helped immensely, but it’s not the angle I would naturally choose otherwise. Admittedly it was entertaining to playback the recording and see a revolving door of the dog and cat walking in to check things out. Video quality is great and access to recent recordings is wonderful. I was surprised how well the baby crying detection works. It is quite accurate. Paired ours with Echo Show next to bed and arlo app on iPhone/iPad.

If you're looking for a baby monitor that can tie into your smart home, look no further.
With a ton of options out there when it comes to baby monitors, this one is the perfect fit for your smart home. The Arlo Baby has all the features I was looking for in a monitor like environmental (air quality, temperature and humidity), two-way audio, night vision and the ability to play lullabies and other custom sounds. I knew I wanted something that didn’t have to use its own proprietary video monitor. I wanted to be able to watch it on any device I choose. What sold me was that it could integrate with my smart home ecosystem, which is also why I went with their Arlo Q cameras for the rest of my interior cameras. Arlo is currently the only camera that directly integrates with SmartThings. For my install I opted for the Arlo Baby table/wall stand which allowed me to get the perfect placement for the coverage I was looking for. In addition to being able to live stream and access your recording library using a web browser or app, the app allows you to continually stream audio even when your phone or tablet’s display times out and locks. Another perk of this app is that if your phone or tablet is on the same wireless network, you can direct stream to the Arlo Baby instead of having to go through the cloud. This pretty much eliminates any latency. One of the cool party tricks comes from Arlo’s integration with Google Assistant. All I have to do is say “Ok Google, show the nursery” and a live feed will start streaming to whatever TV (or smart display) I’m closest to. There is however around a 10 second delay as all of this has to go through the cloud. The Arlo Baby was one of the only monitor options I looked at that could automatically record when triggered by audio or when motion detected. You can have these events recorded for a fixed length of time or when the activity stops. It is worth mentioning that there is no charge for up to 7 days of recordings to the cloud. Paid subscription options include 30 or 60 days of storage as well as continuous video recording.

I don't understand the negative reviews!
Tl;Dr - Buy this monitor. The bad reviews are issues with people's wifi/internet or their ability to work electronics. I bought this monitor about a month before my child was born because I wanted to make sure I had whatever we we're going to use set up and ready to go. I read the reviews. Soooo many bad ones. Connectivity issues, picture issues, app issues etc. I'm not sure if people just aren't setting this camera up correctly or aren't very tech savvy but I haven't encountered a SINGLE issue. Set up is easy. Plug in, wait for the light to blink, connect to WiFi. Fairly straight forward. Picture is awesome for what your buying. This isn't a 4k camera. People complaining about picture quality have too high of a bar. I can see exactly what I want to see on my monitor, which is my baby. Night vision is great. The Arlo app is awesome. It's user friendly, intuitive, and simple. My wife is NOT into tech. She needs something that just works, no fuss. After 5 min on the app she was navigating Arlo just fine. The free library of stored images and videos is a huge plus. Subscriptions are available but it not a need for us. This camera is AT LEAST worth you giving it a try. If something works better then fine, but there's no way Arlo put out as many bad cameras as there are reviews. I feel like some simple tech support would change people's minds on this product.

It is very high quality
The arlo baby monitor has yet to disappoint me! The picture and sound quality is amazing! Night vision is great and so is the zoom (but I don’t really need to use that frequently). Overall I am very pleased with this product, the only thing it doesn’t do that my old monitor did is have the ability to be moved by the monitor, but as long as it is mounted in a good location no need to worry! I originally had a Motorola with our first daughter, we went through at least 2 before we bought the newer version, we got the new version with two cameras with our second on the way and it didn’t even last a month! Trust me it is worth the money! And it is great just having the app on my phone and not needing to carry a bulky video monitor around as I do household tasks!
