Low profile design allows for installation right over a ceiling joist if necessary.

I purchased these for additional lighting inside a room with only a ceiling fan light. With limited access to the attic area above the tray ceiling, I needed a can-less style light, with a low profile, and easy to install. Once I discovered they were less than 1/2" in thickness, I didn't even bother to locate the ceiling joists before cutting the holes. Two of the lights ended up on a joist, but it was no problem since the only room needed is just enough to plug in the light to the power supply. I recommend using a 4-3/8" holes saw to quickly and accurately cut the holes. Mine came with a dust shield to catch all the dust, but you can make one with a plastic tray used for potted plants. I daisy-chained mine together (using 14/2 wiring) in groups of three and connected them all together with a junction box in the attic before running a the wire to the wall switch. I used the new Wago connectors to connect them together, which made the wiring portion easy-peasy. These lights look great, are very bright, and thus a good value IMO.

Warmer than you'd expect. Great quality. Very bright. Love them.

Excellent Lights. Heads up, these are warmer than 3000K, for sure. Think 2500-2700K realistically. So warm, in fact, that they didn't match any of the other 3000K lights in my house. I went ahead and ordered a set of the 4000K versions to see if they'd match. That was a mistake, because those were truly 4000K (Very blue). My wife said to just deal with it. I had an issue with one of the J-Box assemblies not sending power to the LED panel. It must have had a faulty voltage regulator inside the junction box. I swapped that out with a replacement from the set of 4000K ones I had ordered before I returned them. One thing I will say is, make sure the dimmer switch you are using is high quality rated for LED bulbs. The first dimmer I tried to use ($15 Leviton brand from Home Depot) worked, but made the bulbs flash on the lowest setting. I ordered a $25 Lutron CL series dimmer (as the company recommends) and it is spectacular. They dim almost to the point where there is no light without any flickering. I am extremely happy with these and plan to order more in the future.

Great Quality, very bright. Pleasantly surprised.

Warm, bright, and very dimmable.

These lights are fantastic. I ordered 24 of them for finishing my basement. In the past I bought the cheap Chinese ones with no boxes and made my own boxes. These have the boxes with them already which saved me so much time. I found leviton decora dimmer lying around and tried it, where they dim down perfectly. They are super bright, but a nice warm white, perfect for my basement. One driver had minor issues, but torchstar lived up to their reputation and sent a replacement.

So much better than old style recessed lights

I've installed a decent amount of recessed lights and these are my new favorite, especially for old work. I put them in my kitchen and bedroom and barely needed to check for studs since they are so thin. I used a star pattern (5 lights) for both rooms, 3ft from wall, 4ft from each other (on an 8ft ceiling), and have no weird shadowing. As most of the other reviews my only complaints are: 1- They aren't exactly 4" in diameter, I used a 4 &1/4" hole saw and only needed to trim slightly where one of the tabs go up. 2- once you put a wire restraint on the junction box it's nearly impossible to screw them into a stud. Honestly I'm so happy with the price, performance and ease of install I can't take a star off for the 2 negatives. These really are the best lights you can buy if your drywall is already in place.

Wonderful product

I was skeptical at first, having never heard of this brand. I have been an electrician by trade for the last 23 years, so I have installed a light or two in my day. I must say I am genuinely impressed with these lights. From the moment you unbox them you can see the quality in materials and design. The lights feel very durable and look incredible. The separate driver is a nice feature, if the driver fails, you’re not on the hook for a whole new fixture. I used a leviton smart switch with my installations, and they dim and illuminate flawlessly! I have been purchasing these lights since June and they never failed to impress. The reveal on the lights is slightly larger than traditional recessed can lights (1/8 of an inch) but this does not take anything away from these lights. Bottom line, if you’re looking for a great light at a great price, these are a great buy!

Excellent and simple to install

Fantastic product, and easy to install if you dont already have cans. This light set comes with junction boxes for each light, and ideally are installed directly into ceiling, clamping onto the drywall or ceiling board with the spring clamps. If you are planning to replace existing traditional ceiling cans, you'll want to remove the cans completely, as these lights are not designed for retrofit into existing cans without fairly significant modification. Dimming works well, too, and good brightness range. I'll definitely be buying more of these very soon.

These work; and well

I was in a hurry to get can-less lights as the electrician was due in a couple of days and these are still not very easy to find in brick and mortar. I work in the hardware business and was very excited when I saw can-less lights at a trade show earlier this year. I was hesitant to purchase these and I do not know the brand. What I do know is most LEDs work regardless of the brand though they tend to not last as long. These are a very easy plug and play install and should one burn out, take a flat head screwdriver and twist to get them out of the ceiling. They hold well (better than my canned lights) and are very bright.

Love these lights 4000K - Day Light

I replaced another brand LED 3K (yellow) with these. I love the natural Day Light these give off. I used 5 for my smaller kitchen around (100 sq ft). The housing and outside ring is metal and very good quality unlike the plastic ones I had before. They are almost flush with my ceiling and look very modern. Simple to install. My package arrived missing one light but I contacted the company and they sent me another one within a few weeks. Theses look nicer than the big box stores and are 1/4 of the price. I also purchased the recommended dimmer (Lutron Diva (DVCL-153P-WH) Highly recommend.

Perfect fitment and easy to install.

Fit perfectly for my built in entertainment system. I installed 10 of them on a dimmer switch and they worked wonderfully after testing them. The wiring is straight forward and the junction box/ballast is easy to install and mount (my install was new construction) so it was a breeze to plan the layout of the lights and the junction boxes. I would suspect that even with an existing location, the weight of the light and box are easily supported by drywall and even drop ceiling panels would probably support them, but best to find a nearby mounting location if available. I used a 4-1/8" or 4-1/4" hole saw which worked perfectly and fit the lights just right for a low profile fit. I wish I would have found these lights earlier because I would have installed them in my bar area as well.
