If you have a newer Mac this is the one dongle to rule them all. My office bought a number of other dongles and I ordered this cause at a conference about five other folks whipped them out and gushed over them. This thing is even better than advertised and bonus you can plug your power wart into its usb-c plug and it'll pass the power through to your Mac without missing a beat. I've had three high-speed cell phones in a meeting charging off this thing, while I ran a 4k monitor, and kept my mac charge all at once. You'll love this adapter!

The fact that this product even needs to exist bothers me. I'd prefer a Macbook "PRO" to have these connections built in, as they once were a few years ago. Who honestly cares if we can save 2mm of thickness on the chassis. My expectation is that it can connect to the devices I need without extra cables, hubs, attachments..... (end rant) Having said that, this small hub is very well constructed and does everything I need. I wanted something a little stronger than flimsy plastic so that was a deciding factor for me to find one with a metal housing. Also as a left handed person, I didn't want one of the hubs that butt up against the left side of the laptop, especially if I'm using a mouse with my left hand. This hub has a small cable but its enough to move the hub behind the screen and free up the desk space to the side of the laptop. Power can also be passed through it so you have 3 more ports available on your donglebook for even more ...... hubs :-) I would definitely recommend it.

I have a Thinkpad X280 and am running Ubuntu 16.04 on it. The Lenovo Dock does not work... it passes through power and that's it. The Satechi works perfectly. I get enough power to keep my laptop charged (it probably charges more slowly than when connected directly to the 65W adapter, but 45W is good enough to keep it charged and to slowly charge throughout the day. The HDMI port, Ethernet port, USB ports, and SD Card slots all were very well. The adapter does get warm and I'll keep an eye on it, but so far I'm happy.

My sister recommended this to me and I have to say I need this device on a daily basis. Great quality, great price and the color matches my MacBook Pro perfect. Very slim and compact and super easy to use, simply plug and play. 4K HDMI Display and Pass through charging, what else can you ask for, together with th sleep look of it. After a long search for a suitable adapter for my MacBook Pro I finally found the perfect one. My sister and I both love this device and I will order 3 more for our cousins as we are all Mac users. This is a perfect gift for anyone who needs a gift for a MacBook Pro user :-) Great buy and 5 stars! Shipping was fast too which is always a plus. Thank you Satechi!

I've been using this hub for 2 weeks with a Pixelbook, and it has performed flawlessly. I most frequently use the hub with the charger, an HDMI monitor, and a Logitech wireless mouse dongle attached. I've also tested the SD card readers and the ethernet port, and they've worked fine. I've seen complaints about heat in other reviews. While the hub does get warm, I would not describe it as "hot" to the touch. My infrared thermometer registers about 100 degrees with the charger connected.

This USB-C hub has a great build quality that matches my Asus C302CA-DHM3-G Laptop, Touch Screen, 12.5" Fhd (1920X1080), Intel Core M3-6Y30 9, Silver. The port selection is amazing and, with pass-through power, a USB Type A device for wireless keyboard/mouse, and HDMI (albeit 30 Hz), it doesn't get terribly hot. I used the SIIG USB C Power Meter Monitor | Digital Voltage & Amperage Multimeter Charging Performance Tester with Current Direction Indicator for Macbook Pro, Macbook & other Type C Devices and Chargers to measure the power pass-through and the power output was virtually identical to a direct power adapter to Chromebook connection. Very slim and lightweight. Fits in my iCozzier 11-11.6 Inch Handle Strap Laptop Sleeve Case Bag Protective Bag for Macbook Air/Macbook Pro/Pro Retina Sleeve - Dark Gray without issue. Highly recommend!

An advantage to this Satechi multi-port adapter over others is that it also features ethernet which isn't included on many others. The disadvantage is that, at least for Mac, you must set up the port to access ethernet. It is not plug and play. However, a query to support yielded an immediate, accurate and helpful response that taught me how to set up the ethernet. HDMI works well with a projector and appears reliable (I had another brand that developed intermittent HDMI) and constant, a plus. This adapter also features not the usual two USB 3 ports but it supports 3 usb devicis simultaneously. While plugging my power brick into my Mac Book Pro (2018), I can simultaneously use the USB C port on the adapter to power another USB C device (in addition to the 3 USB ports! This is a great feature. Of course I can use SD and micro SD cards in the convenient slots as well. Were it not for the ethernet lack of plug and play, I would give it a 100% 5 star rating. I would buy this again without question.

This is the v2. Which runs much cooler. It works perfectly. I use it everyday at work. Because of its size I keep a spare in my backpack. Never an issue with the Ethernet port in the v2. All other ports work great. Again a great product

-Satechi products can't be beat in build and stability for my work environment going forward. -The connection is faster and superior than my last hub. -A plus is the mini HC slot -Super STABLE. No drops when adding or removing externals/SD drives. My last hub would kick off everything, every time I tried to plug in or remove an accessory or SD disk. I don't know if it was the connection to the mac or something in the physical build of that hub but this no longer happens with the Satechi. - Stable connection when MacBook sleeps. My externals rarely disconnect when I put my machine to sleep. I understand it is a Macbook Pro issue but it is down to about 2% whereas everytime I put my machine to sleep with my old hub, it would kick off my externals. - Direct connection for charging works. I can connect the Satechi and my external directly to my MAC with complete confidence while working. Something that the last hub would not do. The constant disconnecting of the externals disrupted my work flow, one was a scratch disk for Photoshop and when it disconnected, Photoshop would crash. It messed up my time machine backups that were in progress whereas I do not ever experience this with the Satechi while working. -Not a complaint of my Satechi but I purchased a new SeaGate drive that is ONLY recognized when it is directly connected to the Mac. It was not recognized by the old hub either. I was about to return the SeaGate when I realized I could charge my Macbook through the Satechi. My last hub could not be trusted to maintain a superior connection so I had software crashes often. I didn't buy a cheap hub last time but I wish I saw the Satechi hub in my search. I was new to needing a hub with my Macbook Pro's lack of connectivity and the unstable hub. This hub by Satechi is WORTH EVERY PENNY. I only wish they made a 4 USB slotted hub.

Bought this item to extend my Thunderbolt only MacBook Pro. It's a fully featured multi-port adapter that offers pretty much everything you need in one unified device. When looking at alternatives on the market this option stood out as the best. All ports works without issue. The only small complaint that I have about this device which may be the case with other similar devices is that it runs a bit hot.
