This thing is a formula one trimmer!
I've had all the cheaper trimmers out there, they work ok, and perform well around $40-50. So why would you spend 3 time the amount on this trimmer? 1. The battery life is amazing, being a Li ion setup it can last a whole week before charging, which makes it perfect for travel. This is the only Li Ion panasonic beard trimmer out right now, the others are older tech that is cheaper. Step up to something better! 2. The motor is the most powerful i've ever owned, it sounds different, very very fast, very very smooth. My other trimmer sometimes felt like it was tugging at my long beard hair, this thing sounds like a formula one engine turning on, very satisfying sound and performance. 3. Insane fine adjustment! This thing can adjust itself in very fine adjustments, way more so then my previous trimmers. 4. Sturdy and well built, it doesn't feel like a toy. This feels like the Rolex of trimmers, a little bigger, a little heavier, finely machined and assembled. 5. Waterproof?! This thing can handle an adventure in the shower, or a quick wash down to get it clean again! The other ones in this series do not provide that. So who should buy this? Someone who wants to pamper themself on something better. We all trim our beards or body hair often, make it a peaceful experience! I highly recommend this trimmer!

Perfect
I can’t speak to those who are going from one expensive trimmer to another, but if you’re like me that always cheaped out on trimmers then you’ll be very satisfied with this one. This is the fifth and hopefully last trimmer I’ll buy. The prior four were all the cheap kind you’d find at Marshall’s or TJMAX. The last two I purchased were a Remington rechargeable that barely lasted 20 minutes and then I got the Gillette Styler. You’d have to go over and over and I have very coarse hair. With the four combined I spent more than I did with the Panasonic. I’ve used it three times out of the box to trim my beard and haven’t charged it once as it came partially charged. What I also like about it is unlike the other ones I had, my hair doesn’t go all over the place. I haven’t used it to cut my own hair as I always have and have a Wahl trimmer, but it’s always a project so I am hoping this replaces that as well. Oh, and it has a built in sideburns or neckline trimmer too that also works great. Spend the extra money as it will pay for itself over time.

A Gem For Facial Hair!!!
This ergonomic, Panasonic model ER-SB40 (3.6 v) is made in Japan. Changes in 1hr. When on—a blue light blinks its charge level: High, Mid, Low. Cuts from1 to 10 mm with precision. “WASHABLE” stamped on the case’s front bottom. It does my beard, eyebrows, and ears. Comes with black, roomy, soft-to-the-touch, zippered protective case. “You get what you pay for” applies with this one. I paid $149.99 and would do it again. Please sparingly apply hair clipper oil after each use. I bought WAHL’s 4 oz. (120ml). After two months of use—no problems. Panasonic got it right this time. UPDATE: After 10 months of use, it continues to work well. Again, I clean it after each use and detach and hold open the blades to oil between them. UPDATE: Almost a year later, and this thing has been flawless with one caveat—I have been unable to find a source for a replacement blade, even through Panasonic’s website. Zip. Nada. The blade still is doing its job but, in time, it’s going to fail. Any suggestions?

Great for cutting hair
Cut my hair with the ER-SB40-K for the first time this evening. It was very easy to do. I was worried about how well it would work because the only reviews I was able to find were from people who bought it to trim their beards. Anyway, I keep my hair fairly short. After experimenting with 10mm, 8mm, etc, I settled on 6 to 6.5mm for the top parts of the side of my head. I generally don't have to worry about the top because I'm an old man with little hair up there. If I were going to cut the hair on top, I would probably start out at 10mm or would hold the hair between my fingers to keep from getting it too short. After cutting the upper sides, I changed it to 4mm and cut the mid portions, then went to 3mm for the bottom and down to 2mm for my sideburns. It is very easy to use and adjust, it is very powerful and clean cutting, and left my hair looking the way I wanted it to look. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who keeps their hair relatively short. Although expensive, it will pay for itself after 6 or 7 haircuts, and if you happen to have a beard, it will work for that too (accordingly to the many reviews online).

Love how quiet it is!
After my 10 year old vacuum Norelco finally died I needed a new trimmer. I use one to buzz my head, trim my beard, and do some manscaping. So the inclusion of the body comb was an obvious choice. This one cuts very well. Nice sharp blades. The guards are robust and clip on solidly. The dial is positive and doesn't slip. The body comb works pretty well. It's about as close as you can get while still offering some protection. Be careful with the wedding vegetables though as the loose skin can still be nicked. The short comb is smooth and perfect for stepped blending of my beard and for buzzing my head at the lowest level. Washes nicely. The pop up trimmer works well for moustache edging. Not fully waterproof, but that's the trade off when you can use it plugged in. I'd rather have the latter. It's very quiet. I like that. Good buy overall. Very pleased!

Perfect for short haircuts
I bought this not for trimming my beard (I am clean-shaven), but for trimming my hair. I usually do that with a cordless trimmer and use a 3/8th-inch comb to get an even buzz-cut. This trimmer is much more convenient than my old trimmer. First of all, there is no need to fiddle with various combs, snapping them on, snapping them off, etc. There is just one comb to this trimmer, and the rotary dial makes it so convenient to adust the length of the comb perfectly. It just so happens that 3/8ths of an inch is almost exactly equal to 10 mm, which is the longest setting on this trimmer. So, I just set this trimmer to 10 mm, and voila, my haircuts are simple and straightforward. You can remove the comb to shape the edges and make your haircut sharp if you want. The comb does not snap on and off, instead it is a simpler design with the comb simply fitting into slots on the side of the trimmer head. The trimmer is very quiet and it doesn't sound like you are trying to groom yourself during a tornado when you use it. The cleanup is also much simpler. My hair trimmer is very finicky about not being dunked in water. Cleaning it with a stiff-haired brush is no fun. This beard trimmer is fully wet and dry, so it can be used in the shower if you want. I use it on dry hair, but after use, I simply wash it in running water and clean out all the hair without any hassles. It has a long run-time on a single charge, and I can typically go 4 or 5 uses between charges. The charger is a little unconventional in that you plug the trimmer into the charger which is plugged into the wall. There is no charger cord, but it works, that is what matters. My only con for this trimmer is that the head is narrower than my hair trimmer's head, so it takes a little more time to fully pass it over all parts of my scalp. Overall, much more convenient, lots less parts to worry about and keep track of, long battery life, very easy clean-up. It is time to retire my regular hair trimmer or keep it around only for dire emergencies.

Best Trimmer I've Ever Had!
I used the same old adjustable trimmer for years and pulled the hair from my face and head for years so finally I started my search. I looked at basically everything online and in stores and this is the one I purchased. First off it's awesome looking. It makes me feel like I'm ready to play a video game or something with the blue flashing light and ergonomics. So I gave it a full charge, oiled up the blades and gave myself a nice clean beard trim and haircut. These buzzers are powerful and sharp. I used them for about 45 minutes total on and off and still at a half almost full charge. Didn't pull a hair once. Like I said. The best I've personally ever used at home. Pay the money and get a pair. You will love them!

Great shaver if you take care of it.
Here is my review after using it after almost 2 months I have to say this is a pretty amazing shaver. One thing to note about this shaver is every time you use it is very important to but the oil on the blades or the shaver will pull you’re hair if you put the oil on its a smooth shave. This shaver doesn’t come with a smoothing attachment so the little stubbles may be there but I usually can get them all gone. It has a dial on it that you can adjust to the setting you want depending on what you’re using it for. It comes with 3 attachments one is a body shaving attachment one is for hair and one is for you’re beard. Also the brush that comes with it is pretty useless it can’t really get anything out so if you do get it I’d recommend keeping you’re brauns brush. It’s waterproof and has little slits in it so that you can clean the shaver with out a problem so no worry’s there. It is a great shaver and I highly recommend it if you’re willing to take care of it.

It's a little Jet engine.
I was a little Sceptical at the reviews and price range, especially with a large number of (Amazon Vine program reviews) That being said I felt like a formula one race driver switching this on. This little jet engine roars Yes everyone is correct the hair flys out, but I'm happy with the quick clean up especially with the results, extremely well made and engineered for sure. I payed $99 which so far I'm good with if this little guy lasts, which at this moment I really believe it will. Now if the price was slightly lower I'd be 100% happier and buy two. I've tried everything for the 5 O Clock shadow look And theres only two I still use and really like and this little devil is one of them

Excellent beard trimmer
Over the years I've had some horrible luck with beard trimmers. Having a coarse beard myself, many trimmers don't hold up, have 15 attachments to fumble with, and don't clean up easily. And on top of it all, they don't have enough length adjustments. I out-right abuse this trimmer. I've been using it for 4 months, used the adjustable length to grow my beard evenly (every week click it up one notch to go longer), rinse it off, apply zero oil to the blade (other than the first time), and at the end the maximum length is a solid beard and evenly trimmed. I also found it easy to keep the same attachment and shorten the length for my moustache. I'm not sure I've charged it more than twice - so it holds a charge. If I had to manufacture something to not like about this, it does not do trimming well (squaring off the corners of my beard, for example). I have an actual razor for that and I don't usually keep a beard in the summer. Like most non-razor trimmers, when I extend the trimmer it doesn't have enough speed, and pulls at hair a little. It took me all of 5 seconds to figure that out, and I went back to my high speed razor to do that maintenance. The trimmer may be OK for fine hair, and I wouldn't want anything compromised to make it a better trimmer. So 5 stars to keep it exactly as it is.
