I originally purchased because I didn’t have a set, and wanted to keep one in the green house instead of bringing scissors back & forth. The price was more than fair, and they arrived in a speedy manner. I purchased for basic uses in my greenhouse such as pruning plants, cutting stakes, & cutting zip ties that I keep shelves and plants stakes to for support. After receiving I was surprised at how well they cut my zip ties, because of the rounded tip I didn’t think I’d be able to get the hole zip tie into the tip; but they worked great & snapped them with ease. I love that the lock is on the top (I’ve had the handle locking ones and hated them because I thought they were inconvenient that I was just about to cut when I realized they were locked and had to use my other hand to unlock it). You do have to make sure you push the lock in all the way until you hear a click, because there were a few times I swore I locked it when it came undone, when I realized I just didn’t push the lock in all the way. They look like they’ll last awhile, and I’m glad to have them in my greenhouse. I would look to this pair again in the future. I’ll update in time to see how they hold up.

Let me start by letting you know I’m a first time gardener. We just purchased our first home and I’ve never had to prune or pluck anything before, so this was all new to me! However, I LOVE roses and my new house has about ten rose bushes that were in desperate need of pruning. After watching many YouTube videos on how to make my roses live, I had to purchase some pruning shears. These looked most like a lot of the pruning shears from the videos I watched and they also had really great reviews, so of course I had to buy them. These were really easy to use and I was able to get all my rose bushes pruned quickly. There were even really thick branches that the shears cut through like butter. Some of the more “green” stems would get lodged in the bottom of the shears, BUT the shears didn’t stop working and I didn’t need to clean them out until I was all done. Cleaning was a snap, too! I pushed out the gunk stuck in the bottom using one of the harder stems I had cut off and then rinsed with water. I will definitely be buying more products from this brand in the future!!!

I ordered these with the hope of spring in the air. They were quick to arrive, but it’s been too wet and cold to do much in the way of yard work. However, I couldn’t resist trying out my new tool. So, I tried it on some bushes - just to clean them up. O my! They cut the stems like they are nothing. I go into my backyard and start cutting back some overgrown bushes and vines I don’t want. Again, they cut through these stems and vines with no labor on my part. I decide to try a little thicker branch - my very old trees grow little branches low that need to be removed. These pruning shears did the job. I love them. It is amazing what a little great tool can do.

May 25, 2019 update - Both pairs of pruner continue to perform well and without issue despite the not-so-gentle workout they regularly receive. Amazing. Jan 13, 2019 update - Both pairs of pruners continue to perform well and without issue. Last week I filled three 32 gallon lawn cans and two brown lawn bags with cuttings from briars, shrubs, and fallen limbs. Many weeks I've filled 3 yard cans and 6 to 10 bags. For the quality and the price the pruners simply can't be beat. July 28 update - Repeat customer. The pruners I purchased in May for myself have been in almost daily use for hours at a time and continue to perform extremely well. I gifted a set to a family member shortly after and they, too, have been very happy with them. I've recently obtained additional property and now wish to have a set to keep on hand there. Excellent quality, performance, and price! Original review - Received these today and immediately put them to use cutting new growth, old growth and no growth (otherwise known as dead) tree limbs, bushes, and vines in various sizes ranging from 1/16" to 3/8". The pruners feel like they're of good build, are comfortable to hold, and performed extremely well - unlike a pair I recently purchased locally, which failed after a few cuttings - and I'm very happy with the purchase.

Great buy! This cut a 1/2 inch limb with ease. With my left hand ( and I’m right handed). The handle seems like a good fit for medium to large hands, smaller hands may find it slightly more difficult to cut through larger pieces without using two hands. I can lock and unlock the jaws with my thumb while holding shears, one handed. Fast open response means I can quickly cut those small branches with no binding. I’ll update this as I use these and let you know how they are holding up, but I’m not foreseeing any issues.

I recently received my mockins Professional Gardening ANVIL Pruning Shears, and I couldn't be happier. They perform wonderfully for pruning rose bushes, small tree branches, etc. The cuts are clean and tend to make a complete cut with every squeeze of the handles. They are very comfortable in the hand. I initially tried them out at home on my garden. I then took them to my church where I do voluntary landscaping/clean-up work. At this time of year, a lot of pruning takes place, so they got a good workout. Again, I was very pleased with their performance. One other thing: at $6.00, these are under-priced for how they perform.

I just got these two days ago, but they are already pulling their weight. Over the weekend, I trimmed several bushes and trie to get rid of pricker bushes that are on my property. These cut through the branches very easily. I also like the lever on the side that locks them closed. It is easy to manipulate with just my thumb. The biggest branch I cut was about a quarter of an inch, but I believe they can handle larger ones.

These pruners are cuts above the rest! I bought some years ago at True Value Hardware locally and they weren't made good at all. They didn't stay locked when I wanted to close them and then the grips came lose on them too. These pruners on the other hand, are way better and superior to them or many others that are sold on Amazon too. I haven't had anything to trim yet but I plan on using them soon for the Rose of Sharon bushes in my backyard. Each fall I trim off all the seeds so that they don't sprout next year in the grass, it messed up my lawn otherwise and I take great care of it. The pruners are made well, they have a nice color, they have ergonomic grips and they will actually lock closed when I won't be using them and have them stored in my garage. Without a doubt, it's a 5 star product for me and I give Kudos to Mockins for making them so well and with good craftmanship too. Great job!!

I had been looking for an anvil pruner for cutting small dead branches/stems for bushes in my backyard. Most advertise 5/8” or 3/4” cutting capacity and being small, I prefer to use my anvil loppers for those bigger branches. So after reading the reviews I decided to try the Mockin’s 8mm anvil pruner which is about 5/16” capacity. It’s lightweight because it’s mostly plastic and has a conveniently located locking mechanism. So far I am enjoying this product. I have small hands so I have to hold it closer to the top but otherwise it’s not a big deal. Also, many reviews say that debris gets stuck in the groove. Debris does accumulate when cutting dead branches. I just blow on the groove and it falls away. I don’t intend to use this for cutting live branches which probably is why this isn’t an issue for me. For the price point this was a good choice for me without paying for a more expensive anvil pruner with higher cutting capacity which I didn’t need.

This is my first time purchasing pruning sheers. I bought these to prune my Dracaena, whose leggy stalks are about 1.25”-1.5” in diameter. (However, please note, these are rated for stems 8mm in diameter or smaller. Please refer to pic of back of package for full info on use & care.) The sheers seem well built & worked smoothly. Dracaena stems are quite pulpy & by no means a hardwood, but I was still impressed with the sheers’ performance. They feel like they should last a long time. I have small hands, but these were comfortable to hold & easy to work with. I’d recommend them to anyone interested in pruning small bushes, plants, vines, etc...
