These are the sturdiest Legos they make. You can actually play with them without them falling apart!

This was the first Technic set that I gave to my 5 year old. He is younger than the recommended age, but with some help he built it mostly by himself. I loved watching his face when he discovered the pull-back motor. Now we have lots of fun zooming it down the hall and seeing if we can get the “motor” to pop off. That is another fun feature that if the front of the car runs into something it will pop off a small assembly that looks like the car’s engine. Overall I think it was a good purchase.

bought for grandson..Super cool how you pull back and it goes

I bought this for my 16-18 year old students and they loved it! They were like young kids again!

My 3yo had a lot of fun building this with me. And loves playing with it, constructed. Hes begin playing with pulling parts off and adding other parts, and making modifications to it. It is well designed, and doesn't fall apart with normal play. Very cool toy.

Takes me back to being a kid. something to build at my desk when my shop is slow, and i get bored.

I bought this and the corresponding "twin" for my nephews and they loved them! They are easy to put together for a 5 year old but challenging enough in the combined mode. They are also fun to play with once they are built because they have the pull-back to run engine and the fly-apart hood.

This is a really robust fun toy! I (as well as my 5 y.o. boy) really liked LEGO Technic Stunt Bike (42058) because that doesn't break when kids play tough unlike regular lego! So I bought both Whack (42072) & Bash (42073) for my son & his friend. It's a bit challenging to 5 Y.O., but not overwhelming. I think it's just right amount to stimulate & develop cognitive & fine motor skills for 5~8 y.o. kids. Compared to Technic Stunt Bike, this pair run farther (less resistance after the wind-up motor runs out of propulsion), although the initial acceleration is slower. Also boys love these bad-ass racers more because they have something that breaks (sort of) when crash. You know... boys smile when something runs fast but they cracks when something breaks ;) I think it's a clever idea to include a built-in controlled-breaking mechanism.

this construction trifle was purchased in conjunction with with its sister unit the BASH! (42073) and two are delightfully complementary. construction is simple and yet yields a sufficiently durable roadster to withstand youthful playful abuse. delighted squeals can be heard when the two meet headlong and throw their respective engines off their mounts. they are of course made for each other, just like we were. watching them play with the cars makes me think of when she and I were still together before crashing headlong into our respective fates equally tearing us apart. it's easy to think it could have been different, but we were following the instructions fate had for us.

My 10 year old grandson loved it. Got him off the XBox
