My husband & I have gone back to using butter instead of margarine. Manufacturers have made so many changes to margarine that they all have an unatural taste. We ordered this butter dish because we planned on letting it sit on the counter so our butter would always be soft. We thought the silicone seal would help the butter stay fresh. First off, we are in our mid sixties. We don't have trouble pulling the lid off as long as you pull up from the corner. I have dropped the top on the kitchen floor and it didn't shatter. We do not have a dishwasher (other than me), but I don't think it should be placed in one due to the silicone seal. Our butter stays soft and over a period of 8 days it has kept it's flavor with no hint of staleness or off-flavors. We are happy we found this particular butter dish and have no complaints.

I was a little reticent about buying this because some of the reviews said it is hard to open, but I liked this one the best of the ones I viewed, so thought I'd try it. It's awesome. Opens very easily at the corner, yet can be picked up by the top and the top doesn't fall off. The well is more shallow than the others I looked at, so leaving butter in the corners is not a problem. I don't have a dishwasher so don't know about that, but it cleans well in hot soapy water.

Love the clear plastic lid and how easy it is both to secure and remove, those who reported difficulty must be even more spastic than I am. You simply hold down one of the end tabs of the base against the counter with one hand and angle off the lid with the other and voila. Bottom line: Sylvester can’t manage to get into this butterdish so it’s safe for me to leave out all the time, woohoo.

Exactly what I needed. The best butter holder I’ve ever had. Very sturdy and the lid snaps shut. Butter does not stick to the inside roof of the lid. The inside lip around the edges prevent butter from sliding off as you slice. I could not be happier with this product.

This was kind of an inside joke with our family. I buy spreadable butter. However my dear husband for whatever reason NEVER uses it. Instead, he takes a stick of butter out of the fridge and puts it on the center island. When he needs some, he uses it, then "wraps it" back up, leaving it on the counter. I bought this for him and as soon as the kids saw they started roaring with laughter. It is really sturdy, it is nice because the lid stays on, even when full you can pick it up one handed. The lid snaps off easily as well, you just have to go to an end and pull apart. It has markings for both East Coast (Elgins or long narrow sticks) and West coast (Western Stubbies, shorter fatter sticks) butter.

I was looking for an everyday butter dish, easy right? I've spent the last decade trying to find a basic well made butter dish. I can't tell you how many I've purchased. I've gone the butter bell water route which is messy and sometimes the butter falls into the water. I tried glass but the glass was heavy and there was no seal, and even had one made of silicone - flexible butter dishes, a truly stupid idea! I've also had countless plastic dishes which were either ugly, had no seal and/or were colors that I couldn't live with. All wound up in the trash. This one is attractive (for plastic) and is a neutral color - white. It is a HIGH QUALITY durable plastic, not cheap junk. The best part is the seal, it seals tight. Some have commented that it can be difficult to remove the lid. The first time I used it, it took a few minutes to figure it out. Now it comes off immediately by just placing your fingernail where the two edges meet on either or the long sides. It pops right off. I'm tempted to buy another "just in case" spare. I'm really enjoying it. As one person mentioned already, there is one small flaw. The dish has both tsp and tbsp markings on either side however, they are both labeled tbsp. It's pretty obvious which is tsp and which is tbsp so this is not a deal breaker for me although, I hope the company corrects this flaw. I highly recommend this product.

I was tired of the lid of my glass butter dish slipping all around, and the butter knife falling out when I open the fridge door. This one closes neatly, and has minimal handles that don't take up space. Mind you, this is my 'cooking' butter, not for formal table ware. Lovely that is stays closed, can be lifted with one hand, and opened with one hand. Convenient tsp and tbsp marks. I'm sure one day I'll drop it on the tile floors, and the cover will break, but it is perfect right now. PS. The little butter knife is one of a set of four and fits completely inside the cover. When it's messy, I just replace it with another. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000CFNE2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I bought this butter dish for the compact size of the thing; the convenience of the markingS; and most of all, the air-tight silicone seal. I intended it for the Kerrygold Garlic & Herb Butter that I occasionally use, and keeping it fresh was a huge buy-point for me. I loved the butter dish upon arrival but soon came to hate (yes, hate, not just simple dislike) for the wrestling match to get the top off every time I wanted to use it, and I'm no weakling. But wait, this love story has a happy ending! The usual solution of WD-40 to unstick something somehow didn't seem appropriate... but a dab of ghee smeared around the silicone did! Now the top seals air-tight and comes off easily, and I'm in love again! And thus I heartily recommend this butter dish. :)

I have gone through more butter dishes than most people -- I can't get glass because I cook and bake a lot and my hands are slippery and the butter section of the fridge is way up high and I am short and those dishes have slipped out of my hands enough times that I have sworn off the glass ones. Fine. I have had the bulky plastic ones that are way too big and occasionally not see-through. That doesn't work for me. I had a thin, clear plastic one that cracked after 2 uses when slicing butter with a butter knife. And then I got this one. I haven't had it long but I love it. The plastic is clear (so I can see how much butter is left) and the lines help me measure. I needed something that was durable and it definitely has met that standard so far. I highly recommend this product.

I love this little butter dish. I've decided to start keeping a stick of butter out on my countertop like the olden days. This works perfectly. Some people mention it's hard to open, well if you hold the white tab on the end and lift the top it is super easy. If you try to grasp it and just pull it off sometimes it seems tight. There's a trick to it and it works great! So glad I got it.
