• 1-3/16” dual sided black blade with consecutive inches to 16ths on both sides, vertical read out on back, horizontal on front
  • 10 foot Standout for longer reach and efficient measuring
  • Reversed Color blade for improved legibility in lowlight conditions, hi-viz green marking for excellent contrast
  • Matte nylon blade coating in conjunction with black blade offer reduced glare in outdoor applications
  • Dual end-hook grips on all sides makes marking and measuring easier & rugged rubber over mold housing for increased impact-resistance

I bought one of these locally and was so impressed with the ease of visibility of numbers and lines that I went for a spare and there were none. Amazon pulled through. I like that both sides are marked and that the measure grips the surface well.

I've used Lufkin measuring tapes for many years. They make a quality reliable product. I'm a welder and find myself taking measurements in low lit areas. This really shows up nice; very easy to read and love the scale on back for taking vertical measurement. I would highly recommend this measuring tape and repeat purchase this really ingenious design.

Wow, I really like this tape. Time will tell how it holds up in the long run but it is excellent so far. Very stiff, strong retraction, and both sides are marked. Worked well with the spider tool holder stick on tab. I removed the OEM sticker and stuck it on.

I have used tape measures nearly ever day for the last 40 years, and I have used Lufkin tape measures more than any other brand. My other “Go To” tape is a regular Stanley. The Lufkin Black Widow is (as far as I am concerned) one of the best tapes out there! All of those fat, bulky oversized tapes are not any better and they’re priced way too high! The BLACK WIDOW is very comfortable in the hand. It has a wide blade but not overly so, wide enough to provide a 10-Ft standout. The black matte blade and High-Visibility Green markings are really easy to see and read. And… unlike DeWalt and Milwaukee, Lufkin did NOT put printed Fractions on the bottom edge of the blade! Thank You Lufkin! Why do companies put printed fractions on the blade? If you need those on a tape measure then maybe you’re in the wrong line of work… Heavy duty 4-rivet blade tip, and the rubberized over-grip gives additional protection and it has a lanyard slot! Great tape measure! It has endured up very well. I hope Lufkin comes out with a smaller 16-Ft Black Widow version!

The tape measure is really nice. I purchase this tape measure to replace an old tape that is lighter and easier to read. The tape with the neon green lettering on the black is very easy to read. Definitely easier to read than the traditional tape. measure. Finally the tape fits comfortably in my hand.

The best tape measure ive ever bought even after a few pet-peeve cons. Love the black high-visibility tape. Ive dropped it a few times on concrete with no problems. Good standout. I have accidently extended these beyond the 25' mark to the point were i could see the tape attached to its retraction mechanism, AND THEY STILL WORK. People in the construction trade know this is rare. Most tapes fail to retract if you extend to far. Finally, i have to read Cons: the tape retracts freakishly fast and I fear could easily slice a finger while slowing it down if you're not careful. For as big as the hook end is, it truly sucks at grabbing on metal surfaces over long extensions (i work with aluminum product). However, having to take readings dozens to almost a hundred times a day, I have found the black tape with neon green/yellow writing to be faster for me to read and comprehend small fractions than the conventional yellow taoe with black writing. Last con: lack of different sizes.

This is a great tape measure. The numbers are large and easy to read, especially since they are contrasted against the background color. We pulled the tape out to 8 feet and it stayed rigid. I like that the tape can be read horizontally on one side and vertically on the other. I bought it for my husband for Christmas. (He likes it a lot too.) But after he took it out to his shop, I asked him to bring it back into the house so I could use it too. He did.

Several years ago I was given Stanley Fat Max. I'm not a contractor or someone who used it constantly. I used it sparingly and that's when I didn't lose it. My FatMax just broke. In replacing it I was drawn to this because of the color scheme of the tape itself. It really is easy to read. Its a quality tool, or at least feels like it. I have a tendency to misplace them for a period of time so I have a lot of them mostly the freebees from Harbor Freight. Three is a distinct difference in feel between this one and those. When doing something that requires precision, like hanging custom curtain rods, I like something I can trust. I feel like I can trust this one. I can see it. It hasn't broken.

Looking for a new tape for a home remodel, and figured for the price, why not try the Black Widow. I have all the other brands in tapes (Stanley, DeWalt, Milwaukee..) but for this project , I wanted a tape that I could see the markings better. So the idea of hi-viz on a black tape, soundedlike a win-win situation! Right out of the box, not disappointed! Everything I expected and more, plus the bonus of the measurements on the underside of the tape! No one mentioned that. This is my first Lufkin tape, so I will put it through it's paces. I don't know why more brands don't use the black blades with the hi-viz numbers, to me it just "pops" more. It definitely adds more contrast and for those with older eyes (like me) every little bit helps!

Best tape I have owned hands down! And I have even owned one from snap-on....Lufkin is better! The action is super smooth, the graduation marks are bright and easy to read against the black background! This is great while working in a shop that is dim lit all day, or when I am working inside of a workpiece! The markings are spot on accurate and it is great that they are not overly wide, when precision is the name of the game every little bit matters. I will be buying Lufkin tapes from now on! The only bad thing is I couldn’t find a 30’ or 35’ black widow!
