It really works

I have written 3 or 4 reviews since I started using Amazon in 2002. The others were bad ones. This brace is really incredible. Simple, heavy duty, good instructions and a great result. Mine is a 2 year old heavy duty wood gate I built with a set of braces from Home Depot that were claimed to be sag proof. Well, they were not. It dropped 1 1/2 inches due to the over-all weight of the gate. Installed this brace. Adjusted it per instructions and gate latch end was pulled up into position. It can't be this simple. But, it is. Every time I open and close this gate I find myself thinking of how incredible this thing is. There has been no more sag so far. If and when there is it will take no more than a simple twist of nut to move the gate into the right position. The gate clearance is currently 1/8 inch or less. It has not moved a bit in 2 weeks. So glad I got it.

Great gate brace

This latch brace really works! I have had my 5’x5’ wooden gate adjusted and cut by numerous “handymen” and the gate would eventually sag and drag. So I went researching the cable wire kind and came across this brace. I purchased it, installed it and it works like a charm. I really had my doubts, but it really works.

Works as advertised

I bought a townhouse about a year ago, and the patio area is fenced in with a privacy fence. The fence and gate are both pretty old and really need to be replaced, but without the funds to do so I've been making small repairs where I can. The biggest problem I had with my gate was that the bottom corner of it drug against the concrete and it was near impossible to open. Part of the reason it was dragging was that a root had grown under the concrete, pushing it up in that corner, and part was simply because the gate was old and sagging. I decided to give this product a try to see if it would fix the problem, and to my delight it did. The install was intuitive and as easy as it could be. I just bolted the bar onto the frame in the appropriate places and then turned the bolt until the bottom corner lifted enough to stop dragging. I had to make some additional adjustments after a few days, but so far so good. A quality product and a much easier/cheaper fix than buying a whole new gate!

Don't buy a Turnbuckle and Cable System! Buy the True Latch Gate Brace instead!

Prior to using the True Latch Gate Brace, I had installed a cable and turnbuckle system to adjust my sagging gate. Yes, the turnbuckle worked but after a yar, it needed to be adjusted again. However, the turnbuckle would just twist the cable and revert back. Frustrated, I looked for alternatives and discovered this! Amazing and so easy to adjust! Yes, it's 3 times higher than a cable and turnbuckle but with this product I can see it outlasting the gate itself! It took me longer to get my tools out then it did actually installing. Go ahead and predrill your holes, and if you don't have an impact wrench but you do have a cordless drill, get a socket adapter and a 7/16 socket. It will be much faster

Ingenious

After five years of struggling with the old wooden gate...I replaced it with a new one and added the True Latch... Works perfectly... Gate opens every time and locks every time. What an ingenious invention this is. Highly recommended.

Great Design, Easy Installation, Quality Product

Purchased two of the telescoping units for our tongue and groove cedar privacy fence gates. The telescoping units allow for a much wider range of installation flexibility, and are only a few dollars more. They were packaged in such a way as to not mar the finish, and appear as though they are built to last. The materials used are somewhat heavy duty, and I believe will have a long service life. After thoroughly reading the directions and gathering the needed tools, installation was a breeze. It literally took longer to gather tools, take measurements and drill pilot holes than it did to install and align the fence. While researching I could not find any printed instructions, so I took the liberty of uploading them for anyone who may want to check them out prior to purchase. I would definitely recommend this product to whomever has a sagging fence.

Finished my driveway gates with the installation of these braces. My gates are 5ft wide on each side. Frames constructed to match the rails of prebuilt fences. Chose these braces against a diagonal wooden brace for two reasons: 1, less weight, and 2, adjustable. These gates can be heavy, with gravity constantly calling the unsupported middle section for a future rendezvous. These braces are already performing; adjusting one helped me bring both to level. Easy to install, functional as advertised. Part science, part simplicity, and all worthwhile.

Great Product! Excellent Customer Service!

Easy install. Worked exactly as described. I only had one little problem with it that was resolved quickly by the company. This product was actually delivered with a couple pieces of the hardware (a nut and bolt) lodged inside of the long bar. I needed those pieces to bolt it to the gate so I was a bit frustrated when I couldn’t get them out or use my product upon delivery. I contacted the company directly by email and they immediately responded and shipped out new hardware for me to use the very next day. I was extremely impressed by the product and the excellent customer service!! I plan to buy two more to use on my other gates in the near future.

Worth Every Penny!

Installed in minutes. My requirement was to straighten a post. I installed the brace post-to-post. A couple turns of the nut, and the post came right back to plumb. I doubt this gate will sag ever again. The brace is built like a tank and should last years. Note the all-thread and coupler I used to extend the brace (got the idea from another reveiwer). (Buy 7/16-14 coupler and an all thread of the add'l length you need. The size isn't standard, but I found it at HD for about $6.)

Easy to install. Works as advertised.

I have a cheap builder quality gate. After less than a year, it started sagging. I know that I'll eventually replace it, so I wanted a quick/easy solution. The TrueLatch was exactly what I needed. Only took minutes to install and was easy to adjust. I did have to make some modifications, though. I have a small, narrow gate (37" wide). As seen from the photo, the hinge bracket extends too far into the gate to install the true latch. So I had to install some 2x4 pieces on top and bottom to make it work. It's not the prettiest, but it works and is no longer dragging. Oh, I also snapped the heads off 2 of the bolts. Make sure you drill some deep pilot holes if you're using dense wood. Luckily, deck screws will hold it in place nicely.
