Surprise! Food Tastes Great!
I did my homework before buying this air fryer. I didn't want to spend $250-$400 on something that I might not like or use. I also didn't want a piece of junk that would break down or lose the inside coating after a couple of months. I looked at the wattage (1700 watts compared to the lower wattage of most others), the reviews/ratings of other consumers, and warranty info. This one doesn't have some of the bells and whistles of some of the other air fryers and there's no digital model but it cooks food evenly and most importantly the food is crisp on the outside and juicy inside! I'm now using my air fryer almost daily. Clean up is a breeze and I've lost about 4 lbs since I started using this to "fry" foods. IF you don't own an air fryer, you don't know what you're missing! I highly recommend the Secura.

HOW DID I EVER LIVE WITHOUT THIS AWSOME FRIER MY WHOLE LIFE ???
I haven't been this HAPPY with a purchase in a long time as I am with the SECURA Air Frier !! I got it yesterday but it was today when I used it first time. I am so happy if SECURA would call me to make their ads I'd get time off of work to go do it LOL I made Buffalo Chicken Wings. They cooked so fast and turned so awsome that I am still in Awe !! The chicken cooked throughly and the skin was so nice and crunchy and the cleaning of the basket was super easy too !! I am a happy happy customer and I regret not buying this a long time ago !! Very well recommended !!

Outstanding Results
Used first time to "fry chicken" parts. Used seasoning on some and "Shake And Bake" on others. The breasts were huge so it took more than the 22 minutes to reach 165 degrees. Chrispy, juicy and delicious 😋. Low hum when cooking but not irritating. Wish instructions were more detailed, e.g. can chicken parts be "stacked" . . . e.g. leg on top of breast or thigh on a breast? Update: Purchased in July, 2108. Using it now for about 3 months, almost daily. It cooks very fast and the results are better than conventional over and/or a outdoor grill. Used it to cook pork loin, turkey breast, chicken tenders, quartered potatoes, fries, mushrooms, carrots, hot dogs, sausage, and, most recently, an expensive ribeye roast and double thick pork chops both from Costco. Everything comes out perfectly. The pork chops were as good as any restaurant quality I have eaten. Always put a dry season on the meat; especially like "Butt Rub" for pork. Very easy clean up, too. Had an air fryer shipped to son as early Xmas gift. Suggest you purchase a digital thermometer to check cooking temperature of meats, though provided guidelines are pretty accurate.

My new favorite kitchen utensil
Wow, I love this extra-large capacity air fryer! I expected reasonable results but it exceeded all expectations. I don’t deep fat fry mainly because it’s so unhealthy, but also because of excess calories and the oily aftertaste. This air fryer solves all those problems. It uses a teaspoon of oil or less for a large batch. I use olive oil, so it’s reasonably healthy, the calorie count is relatively low and there’s no oily aftertaste. The frying compartment lifts out from the main pan, so cleaning the non-stick surfaces with soap and water is super easy. I air fry frozen sweet potato fries without additional oil and the results are amazing. Crisp exterior and moist, soft interiors. Best I’ve ever had. Be sure to toss every few minutes to insure your food is crisp on all surfaces. Reaches operating temperature quickly and cooks fast, so it’s significantly less expensive to operate than a standard oven. It wouldn’t work well for tiny pieces of food that would fall through the openings, but I air fry almonds without problem. This is my new favorite kitchen utensil!

More than "Just a convection oven"
Air fryers are, as many review sites will tell you, just a convection oven in a smaller box. However, after using my friend's $300 Phillips air fryer, our own $100 Secura air fryer (this review), and the convection setting on our oven, I have two insights: First, I am firmly convinced that air fryers have a place in a family kitchen based on their speed and efficiency. Whipping up some chicken strips for the kids in our Secura fryer is fast and painless. We did some green beans last night, french fries the night before, and have had multiple occasions to have brussel sprouts. All are cooked quite well. The fryers are simply so much easier to use than a full blown oven - plus, you can then use the oven for something else! More importantly, they cook faster than a large convection oven. If I had to speculate, the speed and efficiency has everything to do with the relative fan size. Our main oven has a small fan for a relatively giant oven on the convection setting, and it takes forever as a result. The fryers have a small fan for a relatively small space (still plenty of room for a family meals worth of chicken strips), so the air circulates much faster and much better, meaning more convection. I am also firmly convinced that you don't need a $300 fryer. I am not seeing a difference in the way the brands cook food. To rely on the old fallback: look, its just a convection oven. Perhaps it will break in a year; if it does, Amazon's $6 insurance coverage lasts for three. Three cons you need to be aware of. 1) It's big. 2) It's a touch noisy (it is a fan, after all). 3) Interestingly, while it is cooking, it smells of the oil used to cook the food, not the food itself. Like I said, the food tastes great. Bottom line, our family is very happy with the Secura fryer.

YOU'RE GONNA LOVE THIS MACHINE - And This Review !!!
Below is a summary from an INDEPENDENT review. I already did a review here at Amazon on the Secura 4.2 Qt. model titled DON"T BE FOOLED - This Is a Competent Machine!!! It's currently among the top 4 Five Star reviews. Frying Quality Ease of Cleaning Warranty Fryers that made crisp, evenly-cooked food scored highest. Higher is Better. 6 SECURA 93.0 % 1 NUWAVE BRIO 93.0 % 2 BELLA 80.0 % 3 PHILIPS 98.0 % CATEGORY AVERAGE 85.22 % The Secura Hot Air Fryer was a decent contender in our testing. It tied for the second-best score on our food frying tests and was one of the best at cooking evenly, though it did have darker and lighter spots in some batches. As with any air fryer, you can prevent uneven cooking by shaking the basket to rotate the food, but the Secura did a decent job even when we didn’t shake the basket, and that's impressive. The Secura will shut itself down after a cooking cycle. It also has non-skid feet and stays cool to the touch so it scores high for safety. It is a good fit for those who have kids in their household. This is also a good fit for families because of its large capacity. The basket is huge, fitting almost twice as much food as some of the smaller competitors. The two-year warranty on this one is nice. That is double what most of our tested products have. This air fryer doesn’t have instructional videos, though these products are not all that hard to use. Most of the fryers we reviewed were louder than we expected, but this was one of the quieter ones. All but two of them were louder than this one. The Secura also gets a perfect score for cleaning. The non-stick basket was easy to clean in the sink, in seconds. It can also go in the dishwasher if you want to save even more time Summary The Secura Hot Air Fryer has all of the important safety features and offers easy cleaning and quiet operation. It churned out some really good food. Its large capacity, and associated bulky design, is bad for cramped quarters but good for feeding a crowd, which makes it a great option for large families. *********************************************************************************************************************** So the above review was also for the Secura 4.2 capacity and this 5.3 Qt capacity model definitely follows suit in a big way! I bought it for my daughter and her family of 6. She loves it. Excellent performance, fast cooking, quiet, cool to touch, amazing non-stick surface, easy controls, affordable, and a 2 Year warranty are all yours in this 1700 Watt family unit that also mimics your outdoor BBQ with the included accessories. If your looking for superb quality at a bargain price, there is absolutely no reason to spend a fortune when this machine checks all the boxes !!!

Works just fine!
I’ve had my fryer for 4 months and have only positive things to say...it’s easy to clean, the timer works perfectly and the basket drawer slides just fine. No unpleasant smells come from the unit, it has a fan so it will fill your kitchen with the smell of what your cooking. We love it for fries, fish, chicken and veggies like asparagus and green beans. I look forward to trying new recipes in the future. Don’t believe all of the negative reviews as I’m fairly sure some just don’t know the basics of cooking and don’t yield to the precautions on the instructions. I was not paid to write this review in any way.

FOUND MY SOULMATE!
I have finally found my soulmate! I'll be totally honest, I WAS very skeptical that this would and could do what it claimed. I now find myself using it for EVERYTHING! I have turned my nose up to the oven (though I do use the stove for some prep) and my attention to the Secura Hot 'n Crispy. I've had this bad boy in my home for about 2 weeks now and have seen what it can do! I have made stir fry, falafel, quiche, hot wings, steak, hot dogs, french fries, etc. It has seriously cut down my cook time and the amount of time that an oven would be on. I truly thought this would be another clunky device that would be high maintenance and hard to clean.WRONG! I have yet needed to submerge this in soap and water. The basket, so far, has only needed a wiping out. I did however, line the catch basket with aluminum to save clean up time. I do have other appliances that fit in this (I.E. shallow pan and mini cake dish) that I use to catch grease as well as putting things like stir fry in as to not make a huge mess. I just pull out the shallow pan to clean and that's it. I was so wrong about the ease of clean with this machine. As for cooking? Like with any cooking device, this is just another tool in your basket. It's not just a matter of stuffing it full of food and expecting a masterpiece. You have to have some finesse, a little know how and patience. I noticed one of the biggest complaints - french fries. Sure, you CAN just cut them all up, coat them in some oil and spice and stuff in there but, if you are expecting perfection then you are going to be disappointed. Nothing is going to allow you to be THAT lazy. You have to prep some things sometimes. For fries: cut them to the size you want, boil or place in microwave safe bowl with water, cook until soft, freeze for an hour and THEN coat with oil and spices and place in air fryer. Viola! My roommate says they are the best fries he's ever had and trust me....... he's a connoisseur on fast food fries. This device is a slight learning curve but, once you've mastered it, you'll never go to the oven again. One last thing, I have found when making foods like fried chicken (I only cook with either peanut oil or coconut oil) you have to some how find a way to get a little oil in your mix or else you're going to have crispy flour. What I do is add a little oil to my egg mix, whip it until it's almost frothy and THEN dip my chicken in the egg and then to flour. The results have been absolutely incredible! PROS: Saves time Energy effiecient Doesn't radiate heat Easy to clean Healthy alternative to fried foods Easy to use Doesn't require pre-heating Sits firmly on the counter, no sliding around CONS: The nobs are smooth so, they can be hard to turn - they need to be ribbed or have some kind of notch for easey turning. The basket doesn't sit evenly on the counter, it sits at an angle unless you move it to the edge of the counter. I HIGHLY recommend this air fryer if you are constrained for time, have trouble being in the kitchen for to long (I myself have cancer and refuse to let someone cook for me or my family - this allows me to continue to contribute to the household), don't like a lot of clean up, want to eat healthier and just want to enjoy a nice meal and not stress over every dish in the kitchen being dirty!

Great product, great company
This thing is AWESOME. Buy one. First unit I received was defective. Used once, thought I did it wrong. Used again on big game weekend and didnt work and figured out the fan was not working. Got on live chat at 6:30pm Sunday, got a live person, who asked a few questions and then told me a return label had been issued and they would replace. Next day got a notification that my order had shipped, and they had sent a new unit, cross shipped, overnight. Tuesday the new one arrived, and holy **** is it cool. Chicken wings with no oil, cooked to a perfect crispy. Did pork chops last night, amazing. Cooking takes a little longer than the estimated times, but not much. Basket is a easy to clean but the gaps require a little attention. Would I buy another? Yup. Probably will for my cabin. I am critical, I don't write many reviews, this thing impressed me.

Fry you up some taters!
This air fryer does a terrific job of emulating what a real deep fryer does, without the cost and mess of dealing with murderously hot oil. Do items turn out exactly like they would in a deep fryer? No. But if you use it for all of your "frying" you quickly forget the subtle difference between this and "real" deep-fried food. As a bonus, it does do some things a deep fryer cannot, and does others better. For example, it makes shockingly good grilled cheese sandwiches (try doing that in a deep fryer). Additionally it does a wonderful job on certain frozen items such as egg rolls, which turn out better than they do in a traditional deep fryer.
