Great product, time tested, currently lightest case of its kind.
Few products are so time tested that they are nearly flawless. Pelican has been doing this for decades and this case is nice. I'd rate this 4.5 stars. Minor refinements could make it perfect. Expensive, but you get a case with lifetime warranty. The case is the typical waterproof, dust proof, floating, crush proof, etc. tank that Pelican is known for but a good bit lighter than previous versions. The main feature that makes this case worth it compared to competition like the Nanuk 935 is the light weight. 3 pounds is a big savings to start with in my book, at least for a carry on sized case when there is a weight limit on most airlines. The TrekPak inserts are quite pricey, but you get 10-20% of your case volume back with the provided set, and they look amazing if you are obsessed with cleanliness and organization in your cases like I am. With smart cutting, you will be able to reconfigure for multiple load outs similar to foam dividers. For cameras and lenses as is my main use, storing bodies and lenses vertically keeps items from moving and saves space. Even large DSLR bodies and medium lenses will fit this way. I see so many terrible layouts that are wastes of space that let gear bounce around by laying things down. What could be improved? These are mostly nitpicks, this case is meant to be light as possible hardened tank for gear storage. 1) Latches are very loud. If I could change anything, this would be my first pick to change. They are so loud they will draw attention, and they require lots of force to operate. These should be improved after all these years! 2) Obnoxious branding. I removed the branded stickers. These are for over proud people who want to be a theft target when traveling. I think Pelican should dial these down, we know the brand already. Could not remove the stupid red "Genuine Pelican Case" on the valve. Might cover it up or paint it after checking with to ensure it will not alter my warranty. I just want a black hard case that draws as little attention as possible. 3) Wheels are basic, not good for much but hard floors or low carpet. Meh. 4) Injection molding leaves a slight bulge on the lid. Wish they had a process that eliminated this. It is not very noticeable but still. 5) I'm sure over time very slight improvements to weight and handles will be achieved but they are pretty solid. 6) Hopefully materials, perhaps carbon reinforcing, could make this even stronger. The lid will compress slightly if you stand on it, but never in normal stacking. I doubt this will damage gear unless you pack too tightly regardless of how ridiculous it is. If competitors come out with a lighter case, the competition will be on again. The latches annoy me, but everything else is very close to as good as I can imagine.

this is the perfect solution. I pulled out most of the foam ...
If you have grown weary of people squashing your carryon and all the stuff in it, this is the perfect solution. I pulled out most of the foam and use it as nothing but a carryon that defies the repeated attempts of the airlines to destroy it. Used with the foam it's great for cameras or other electronic gear. I love it!

Yup, it fits overhead!
So far I’ve only logged three trips with this case. On my first trip I used the carry-on sizing checker at the airport and all good, touches on all four sides, but easily slides in and out. Only issue so far, on the airline side, is on one of my return flights the case was sent to specialty baggage claim rather than general baggage claim. I’ve been told that some airlines might assume it’s camera gear or instrumentation. I’m just a poser and like the industrial look as a suitcase. Love the simplicity. Too early to tell on durability but will try to update this later.

Tough and beautiful
when you don't want your material crushed or stolen, this is the bag for you. it cannot be slit, forced, or smashed to gain entrance to the contents. delicate contents are safe from nuclear holocaust. no zippers to break. two wheels keep it from rolling down hill on its own, and they are protected so curbs won't shear the wheels off. two sturdy padlock hasps. a place for your name or business card. it is hard-sided luggage: it won't carry itself, but it is light enough to get through an airport and sturdy enough to sit on while you are waiting. cheaper than buying two crappy bags after the first one breaks. terrific.

One tough case..
I use this case daily to haul tools to and from CT to NYC and could not be more impressed with the quality of construction. Definitely worth the money, fits thru turnstiles, waterproof, strong latches, lockable, I didn't opt for the foam inserts as I have it jam packed but if you had delicate items they would be "as safe as in arms of Jesus" with this case. Honestly I think it could take a hit from a taxi and survive. Wheels are heavy duty and replaceable, handle also.

The last case you'll ever need.
Awesome case. My only regret is that I didn't spring for the insert system instead of the foam. For the extra $50 or so, the inserts are infinitely adjustable so you can reconfigure as you change your gear over the years. The "Pick and Pluck" foam allows you to get down to 1/4" increments, but once you've made the openings, you'll have to buy new foam inserts in the future. I also bought the lid storage. It's a must have in order to hold all of the accessories like filters, batteries, lens cleaning kits, and other items. At first I thought that there wouldn't be enough room to close the top, but there are two layers of top foam. Take one out and you have room for the storage layer. This is probably by design. As far as construction - it is legendary, and I looked at some of the competition - Don't bother. This is the gold standard. It has wheels and is acceptable for all airline carry-on. I haven't tried it yet, but it is the same size as my regular carry-on luggage that I fly with.

Have case, will travel.
Perfect fit to store and carry my VR gear. I like to game while on the road and this case safely and securely holds my VR gear and gaming laptop. It is considered a carry-on luggage so you'll rest easy that your precious cargo will get to your destination undamaged.

Significantly lighter than the OG version. Comes with Pick and Pluck foam.
I LOVE THIS CASE! I NEED TWO MORE. My version came with a lighter duty handle on top and Pelican pick and pluck foam. I'd use another for a professional camera case and a carry-on luggage. It's significantly lighter than the older generation Pelican. Highly recommend.

Works great and no issues as carry-on when traveling by air
I love the configurability of this case. I can even fit my Canon EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM in it along with my trio of zooms (16-35, 24-70, 70-200) and more! I have had no issues with any airline taking this as my carry-on along with my backpack as my "personal item". I do recommend using luggage locks or zip ties to lock the lid down so the locks don't pop open if the case is dropped (it hasn't happened to me, but I have heard stories). I know this case is pricey, but I think well worth it for your even pricier gear!
