High Quality Product
I saw these scooters all over Santa Monica & discovered they were owned by a company started by an x Uber executive called Birdride. They are placed all over the city and a phone app is used to rent them. What's really nice is you rent, travel and leave them at your destination. Pretty much anywhere. I used them multiple times before deciding to buy one. I'm not discounting the negative reviews. I've watched a few vids of rider abuse by taking the scooter off road as well as witnessing abuse by Bird renters. I knew going in the fold down bar can become loose. Users have already figured a fix with a 3D printed shim that can be purchased on Ebay. My thinking is that if it can hold up to rental use it should not have issues if taken care of. Also with thousands now everywhere I expect a fix for any problem that arises. That said, my initial impression is the Xiaomi M365 is a high quality product. It arrived mostly assembled with the exception of the handlebar that required 4 screws to install. Also nice they include two extra tires and tubes. I've noticed some pretty nice solid tire options but considering there is no suspension I'll stick with air unless flats become a problem. I haven't tested the range but I expect to get the 18 miles you would need to be on flat ground in eco mode, little stop and go & no wind. I saw an IG post where a couple on Bird rentals made it to Hollywood from Venice Beach. That's over ten miles with a lot of stop and go. I assume Birds scooters run in some type of energy saving mode. Braking is great. The front wheel uses some type of regenerative braking that charges the battery, the back disk brake adds kinda a trail braking effect. I've seen people thinking they needed to adjust the back to make it brake harder but I think the set-up from the factory is perfect & adds stability when braking in turns. Speed. In standard mode the top speed of 15 mph is great and I don't think you want to go over that with 8 1/2 inch wheels. Eco mode is ok if you need to extend range. It tops out at 11 MPH. In all modes climbing hills is difficult, small grades are ok especially if you are light. This is where your body weight makes a huge difference. I weigh of 200 lbs so hills are slow going and kill the battery. Charging. 5 hours and charger get hot. A fast charging option would be nice Lights: Lights are great, the scooter even has a flashing brake light. Fun: Yes! Buzzing around town on this is great. It's a useful toy. I wouldn't consider this a daily driver unless your commute is short. **** I'll continue to update Update 3/10: Regarding the fold down bar issue. I haven't purchased the 3D shim & mine hasn't become loose but after hearing a creaking sound on bumps I placed a couple pieces of electrical tape on the inside of the joint and now its completely silent.. I'm also adding a small piece of tape over the hook to stop wear due to vibration. I noticed Birdride has made a retrofit piece that completely goes in place & removes the fold down feature, I like the feature and prefer to keep it but I included a photo of Birds setup. Update 6/3: Got my first flat tire at around 600 miles. It was the rear and using a youtube instructional video was able to replace it with one of the included tubes. Was not easy but I've not changed a bike tire so had no experience. Removing the back wheel was not difficult but the actual tire removal and reinstall takes wrist strength and technique. Getting the tire back on was the most difficult and I damaged one of my replacement tubes first go round because I was doing it wrong. To get the rear back tire on you need to use your knee or foot to hold the tire in place while using the two tire sticks to push the tire in position. Be careful not to bend the disk brake. Also I looked at solid tire options on youtube & reading comments these seem nearly impossible to install and have a negative effect on speed and ride. In general the scooter has been problem free. I've learned what parts need oiled for silent ride. I'm still layering electrical tape to keep the hinge tight. Update 5/11/2019: Over 800 miles & I've been using it less for recreational riding. I have had no problems other than the one flat tire. I consider this ideal for short commutes where you don't want to sweat. You can throw it in your grocery cart while shopping, take it into Starbucks or lock it to near the door. The only negative would be If you are buying it for recreation you don't really get much exercise. I think I've been lucky with the reliability because obviously others have had problems. The fold down system hopefully has been redone on the new version.

BUY IT, kinda. (4 month update, 1700 miles + 4 flat + rare light dead). Also bought ES2 recently.
Everyday I am out with this and there is always a conversation that happens because of this. This is my two months update after putting in 979 miles mainly in NYC + plus 1 rare wheel flat tire and tube which happened at mile 973. I did take it to a rural part of CT and it was also a fun short ride as well. Overall still amazing minus the flat! I do not use it in the rain or wet street. I do stay off sidewalks as much as possible. I'm about 5'11 and 165+. It takes roughly 5 hours or so for a full charge. 1 hour charge can give you about 2-3 miles of juice. After 2 months of heavy use, the battery is great! The range distance is 18+ miles on Eco mode which is roughly 9 mph. If you go slower it can stretch past 20 miles range. I never used the regular mode entirely because it's too fast in NYC only during certain occasion I will. On Regular mode I went about 16 mph by the bike path. I'm guessing its a little more than 13+ miles of range on Regular mode. It uses up battery for sure but its nice and fast. The Mi Home App is a must. It connects via bluetooth and shows you the statistic of the bike: how many miles left, how much juice left, how many charging cycles it's done, how many charges it's done. Its very detailed. I recommend you tighten the screws per 100 miles. It can get lose from vibration. If you come to a jerk stop it weaken the stem. Try to do a gradual deceleration. After 4 days/100 miles of use, my stem is slightly lose and makes creek noise. It's normal bc its thin.A lot of weight and force driving forward. It happens on those folding bikes like brompton, dahon etc due to geometry. Always ride with 2 hands on the handle bars. This isnt a bicycle where you can balance with 1 hand. I actually do not listen to an audio on while riding for safety purpose. Is it worth $500?! HELL YEAH. The tires are nice after 900+ miles. Im still testing it. Hope to reach 1,000 miles next and see how the bike performs. So I after hitting 973 miles I caught a flat tire of the rare wheel. A tiny piece of glass cut through the tire and tube. I rode 6 miles home with a flat tire. It was doable. It was certainly slower. It may have used more battery energy bc of the flat tire and friction made it slower. So riding home with a flat is okay. I doubt riding home with a front flat wheel would be fun bc the motor is there. Fixing a flat rare wheel was okay but the front wheel will be harder bc it is attached to the power cord. The rare wheel was easy to remove from the scooter. I had a plastic lever and the struggle to take the tire and tube off was unreal. Putting new tire and tube on was even harder. keep in mind I have a plastic lever which usually will do for bike wheels but not for this! You want to have the tube inside the tire when placing it in. Once I had one side in, I had trouble getting the otherside in. I used up 4 hours trying and failing. My hands were so raw the next 2 days. I went to the bike shop the guy had metal lever and it took him 10 minutes to put it in. He even said it was VERY HARD. Difficulty level of putting tires in is like 14 out of 10! That's the tough part. update: my first flat happened around 1K miles. a piece of glass cut the tire and tube. Fixing it without a steel lever was rough. It was done. However the replacement tube was defective. Had a slow leak. I came back from a trip and it was flat. I pumped it up and it slowly deflated after 1.5 day then I add more air. Unfortunately this was not going to work forever. Today my tube gave out. In minutes it was flat. Again I manage to ride home. I will be using my final tire and tube that came in the box. Battery life is great. Update 8/26 I had my 4th rare tire/tube flat as I reach 4 months and 1700+ miles. The front tire has been amazing. Something with the weight, design that has caused the rare to pop this much is a concern. First pop after 900 miles. 2nd after 1300 miles. 3rd pop after 1500 miles. 4th pop after 1700 miles. Again all rare tire/tube. I have bought 2 solid tires. I will see how the solid tire is for the rare wheel. The Rare light died after 1700 miles also bc the tires rubbed the cable under the mud guard. I saw the coil exposed and I was going o add some black tape but too late. The 3d stuff online to help it does not work. I also bought the Ninebot ES2, solid tires. Will be giving it a spin and see the difference.

Life changing scooter, lots of flats
I've written entire emails to my friends about all it does which I never expected. I live in a large apartment building and its off the charts helpful. - load up garbage on top to scoot to the chute - put my loads of laundry on for the machine down hall (child handlebars are great hooks) - take my son to and from car - put lower kid handle bars on there. he refuses to walk now. :) - beat pants off bicycles in the bike lane w/ torque - shaved 30 minutes off my work commute each way as I can take the train into city for last mile - can take into any store to pick up groceries (can't do on a bike). also small tire in front so no issues holding huge bags in front - can ride to my car in garage thru hallways of apartment building - can ride any way on street, never stop for red lights - motorcycles and bikes usually stop - can squeeze in between car and sidewalk to keep moving - bicycles are wider and have to stop - I have a tesla and love this more!! - can bring into office of work, fold down, and put in coat closet (or below desk). bikes are always stuck outside of building - no sweating ever compared to bikes Update 5/31/2019: I get flat tires a lot. To fix I can pay the bike shop $80 for the front and $50 for the back tire. To get around I’ve bought all the tools, gone thru all the videos to change etc. Easy enough to fix in an afternoon .. however I always go to REI to get the bike specialists to help me pry the tire back on with tire levers. I can’t physically do by myself. The rest can be done easily on your own.

Highest Quality! Smooth And Quiet! Excellent 18 Mile Range! Powerful Regenerative Braking (Recharges Battery)
This is the highest quality electric scooter I’ve ever experienced. I purchased the M365 scooter about two weeks ago, I’ve put over 150 miles on the scooter in Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and Venice Beach, including Pasadena, Burbank and Hollywood. Scooter is fast, powerful, smooth and reliable. I’ve ridden the scooter well over the 18 mile range several times, I’m very happy with my purchase, I highly recommend this M365 scooter! Thank you Amazon! PS. I set the kinetic energy recovery setting to maximum with the free Mi Home App and this allows for maximum energy to be charged back into the batteries every time I release the accelerator to slow down. It’s very powerful and has a built in anti lock braking system. Works fantastic! I was going down a steep long hill as part of my daily scooter ride, I looked at the mi Home app to view the watts that was being charged back into the scooter batteries while coasting down the steep hill, the scooter motor which acts as a generator when coasting and stopping, was charging up to 250 watts back into the batteries at its highest setting. This certainly helps extend the range. I’ve ridden the scooter as far as 19miles in one day, with over 43% Battery remaining. I had many downhill roads that put charge back into the battery. Next, we are looking into installing a few small solar cells (See multi junction mono crystalline) at home to charge the scooter and this way we can be smog nuetral in our power production :) Have a wonderful day!

We started out without helmets but now that we're more comfortable riding on the road it's become a necessity
We purchased two of these scooters after renting a pair in San Francisco while on a vacation. We've had them for two weeks now and have covered about 40 miles between the two scooters. We've not had a single problem. As others have said - there is no suspension. You will feel every bump and crack in the road/sidewalk. When there's one that I can't avoid, I usually squat a little bit and let my legs absorb the hit. This works well over speed bumps and mild curbs too. For full size curbs just hop off and walk it up. We started out without helmets but now that we're more comfortable riding on the road it's become a necessity. There aren't any other scooters on the road in our urban environment like this and cars aren't used to looking for them. I've surprised a few drivers who thought they had plenty of time to sit in the cross walk or bike lane waiting for traffic to clear. Be sure to download the app for your phone so you can accurately track speed, miles, battery life and change your regen braking settings. And be prepared to talk to lots of people about it as it's quite the conversation starter.

So fun! I work on a campus and it's perfect ...
I rented a BIRD scooter last weekend and my friend and I found this (the same model) and ordered them! So fun! I work on a campus and it's perfect for zipping around during the day for lunch and meetings. I could even see myself commuting a little with this, especially if I had to park a little distance away. I got the SLIME, and will put that in my tires this weekend, but so far I have gone ~7 miles and the tires are working fine. I did order a phone mount, a helmet, and a lock for this. I am 6'6", so if you are worried about being too tall for it, don't be! I will update this review if anything happens in the negative, but so far this thing is awesome!

Amazing for an urban commute
This is the best commute tool ever. I live in Seattle, and commute about 5 miles each way to work. Normally, driving and parking takes about 30m, and the bus takes about an hour. With this thing, I spend 30m commuting: same amount of time as driving, and I don't have to deal with parking. It's much faster and cheaper than the bus: I justified this purchase thinking that if I could ride it to work 100 times, it would have paid itself off. Already done, and it's a pleasure. I look forward to my commute with this scooter.

A great value and the best riding scooter available!
The air filled tires with no suspension make the Xiaomi Mi the best riding choice for daily commuting. So fast, silent, and smooth. Best three level electric regen in the business, and best quality bluetooth app for settings and e-lock. I have 150 miles or 75 days of commuting, with a 700 ft gentle hill climb. It will be challenged to ride up any material slopes without kicking, which does assist progress well. For steeper hills or larger riders, you need a Segway ES4 for the 800W motor for $850. This Xiaomi is advertised as 300W RMS, but in the app show 625W+ when above a 85% charge, tapering to 450W below 50% charge. All well above stated rating, second only to the ES4 in power in the sub $1K scooter market. Highly recommended. I am 175 lbs and rode 12.5 miles at max speed of 16.5MPH to 3% battery with lots of ups, downs, and stops.... but always full throttle. Very impressive. - Got the rubber shim part right away - Tightened the nut on the inside of the folding mech to fix looseness - Tightened rear disk brake - Careful riding downhill with 100% charge. Front brake will cut out as it can't handle regen brake feed! Factory rear break was not tight. Have battery at 95% or something before going down a hill!

High quality fun & pretty gadget
I work just over 5 miles from home & this thing can get me there & back with about %20 battery left over in normal mode. My best was 16.7 mph, there are a couple decent hills along the way and it never dropped below 15 mph. One kick to get it going from a standstill is all that's needed & it accelerates quickly. I'm only 130 pounds, but for me this thing is great. Feels smooth, handles well. This thing is made really well & looks good too. Operation is very quiet & it's simply a joy to ride. Light & easy to carry with the folding design. I think Xiaomi is about to make a splash in the U.S. market with this enjoyable ride.

Right combination of price, range, speed and support community
Bounced around Santa Monica all weekend on these via the Bird app, so it was a no-brainer to get one at home in Houston. Right combination of price, range, speed and a huge community of riders online. I commute to work downtown, then take it to lunch without sweating in Texas heat. I've biked for years, but people on the street love to high-five and yell hi to you on this. There's always someone chatting you up about it. Range is pretty amazing for $499, but on all-day excursions over 15 miles, the charger just fits in my shorts pocket, allowing recharges in the corner of a brewery patio or park. Combining this with Houston's light rail system, or throwing it in the back of an Uber, opens up the whole city. Be sure to get the 3D printed pieces on ebay that will stiffen the stem, protect the tail-light wiring and start button. So far, sliming the wheels has avoided any flats for me. This scooter is a ton of fun ... Test riding it is like going to look at cars or puppies. You're leaving with one.
