Unboxing: The first thing I noticed is the sleek, compact design. I also have Inkbird’s 6 probe thermometer, and the IBT-4XS just looks better. The thermometer comes with 4 probes, 2 probe holders and a charging cable. The fact that the thermometer has an internal, rechargeable battery is a huge plus. It already had an 85% charge, but I went ahead and charged it. Pre-cook testing; I put all 4 probes in an ice bath and in boiling water before doing my first cook. I also used my 6 probe Inkbird and a digital Weber thermometer as part of the test. In the ice bath all 4 probes read 34 degrees. The 6 probe Inkbird also read 34 while my Weber read 32. During the boiling water test the probes for the IBT-4XS read 210 degrees while the 6 probe Inkbird read 212 and the Weber 208. Overall, I am satisfied with the accuracy of this unit. The app: Inkbird’s BBQ Go app is a great feature. It is super easy to pair with the thermometer via Bluetooth and gives you all the info you need about your cook in progress. It allows wireless monitoring of your cook. I decided to do pork butt as my first cook with this unit, so I set the high limit for each of the probes I used to 203 degrees. When the internal temp was reached an alarm sounded. I didn’t have to babysit the cook...the thermometer did it for me. Awesome! For this particular cook I was using a pellet smoker, so I didn’t need to worry about the cooker maintaining temperature; however, when I use a traditional cooker I will use one of the probes to monitor the temp in the cooker. You can set a temperature range and have the thermometer alert you via the app if the cooker goes outside of the range. If you are doing a long, overnight cook, this is a fantastic feature. Go ahead and take a little nap. The alarm will let you know if your cooker falls outside of your desired temperature range. The Cook: I cooked the two beautiful pork butts pictured above. They came out amazing, and I never had to worry about their progress. A quick look at my phone, and I instantly knew what was going on outside. It rained all day, so it was extra nice not having to go outside to check the temp all the time. I have a fairly large home, and I was able to monitor the temps from every corner of the house. Not until I decided to make a quick trip to the store did I lose connection with the thermometer, and the app immediately warned me that I was no longer connected. Potential future upgrades: This is a very nice thermometer, especially for the price. If there is anything I’d like to see on future models from Inkbird it would be 1) Wi-Fi connectivity so temps could be monitored away from home is needed. This would be especially nice during super long cooks. 2) The app to store details about the cook...what did you cook, how long did it take, how did the temps progress during the cook, notes about the cook such as rubs used, whether or not you wrapped the meat, etc, etc. Just a couple of wish list items in case the fine folks at Inkbird are reading this review. Overall, I am very happy with this thermometer, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys BBQ. Happy cooking!

I am quite into cooking at home and use the Inkbird for monitoring temperatures on my smoker accurately when I am hot and cold smoking. This allows me to monitor (4) probes simultaneously. I usually use (2) In each cook chamber, (1) In the thickest part of the piece of meat/fish I am smoking, and (1) to monitor the chamber the temperature. I also use it for baking bread, monitoring internal temperature of my loaves and the oven chamber simultaneously. I really like the infinite different temperature setpoints and ranges you can add with the app. The most important thing to me is accuracy, and accurate this thermometer is. I absolutely love the application that maps the temperature over time on a graph. I can really nerd out about the effect opening the smoker lid has on both the meat and the chamber temperature. It slows down your cooking more than I ever would have thought, especially in colder temperatures. I also like the alarm on the app. I haven't missed a target temperature yet. I did have one of the probes stop working shortly after getting the unit, but when I contacted support it was promptly replaced. Great product and great support! There are thermometers that do a lot less, for a lot more money.

Used for my first smoke today. 4 probe unit. 3 probes read identical, 1 probe is 2 degrees different. Not a big deal to me. Cable length of probes is about 6 feet. Magnets on housing are a very nice feature. Range of bluetooth is good, allowing me to go out to my garage (about 50 feet), inside my garage, and throughout my house. Display is very easy to read. Setup was a breeze. I received an email from Inkbird prior to receiving the unit explaining how to set it up. Very simple with my Android phone. Overall, no complaints. Unit works well, allows me to use presets or set my own temps, does everything it is supposed to and very easy to use. I feel like, for the price I paid from Amazon, I got a bargain. Good job, Inkbird! Wish you guys would start building smokers, you sure understand temperature control. Little sideline for you, maybe?

I have owned this thermometer for a few months now and I've had plenty of opportunity to test it out. I use it almost exclusively to reverse sear meat and it is flawless. So much better than reaching in with a traditional meat thermometer over and over again. The app is acceptable, it has a few niggles but it's easy enough to set a target temperature and walk away. I'd recommend this product to anyone who cooks a lot of steak, works great.

The setup is super easy. Charge it. Download the app, turn on the unit, open the app, pair and it starts reading the temp right away. You can set it to hit a specific temp, notify you if it goes out of your temp range or use a preset. It also keeps a graph of the cook and range was no problem. I used one probe for the grill level and another for the brisket. This units tracks up to 4 probes and worked great.

This is my third review of an Inkbird remote thermometer. I have rapidly become become a huge fan of Inkbird’s beautifully-designed products. For several months, I have been using their superb IBT-6X thermometer and it is working flawlessly. In my earlier review I found two inconveniences with the IBT-6X: It had no magnet to attach to the grill and its eight -inch long probes were at times inconvenient. I suggested these changes, and BAM! Inkbird has now released its update to what in my opinion was already the #1 Bluetooth thermometer on the market. Inkbird addressed these suggestions, and more, adding cool first-time features, too. First, the IBT-4XS shares the important strengths of the IBT-6X. 1) The Bluetooth range is amazing and has never failed me. In early testing, the IBT-4XS has never lost its connection even from considerable distances away, just like its older brother. 2) The display on the base unit is now even bigger and does not wash out in sunlight like many other thermometers on the market. 3) The IBT-4XS and the IBT-6X share the same excellent app for your phone, BBQ-GO. It’s a simple task to pair or unpair either thermometer. The app is fully customizable and is mostly terrific. Custom settings are all retained for future cooks. The one area where the app is still lacking is its lackluster graphing capabilities. Hopefully the app’s next generation will “beef” these up. For me, this is not a major concern but it sure would be nice to see a graphing upgrade. 4) Accuracy. I’ve used and reviewed three Inkbird remote thermometers and all are very accurate in comparison to my Thermoworks, known as the Rolls Royce of instant –read thermometers accuracy. The IBT-4XS has some new features, too: 1) Built in magnets to stick the base unit to the grill. I glued some magnets to my older IBT-6X but so glad to learn that Inkbird is responsive to customer suggestions. 2) Built in USB rechargeable battery. I was not so sure I like or wanted this feature. Now that I’ve used the IBT-4XS, I do find it useful. For the older IBT-6X, two AAA batteries are about 60% depleted over a ten-hour overnight cook. Thus, they have to be replaced from time to time although if doing several shorter cooks, they will last a good long time. Inkbird states the new non-removable rechargeable battery in the IBT-4XS takes two hours to fully charge with the included cable. So with some planning ahead, it’s not difficult to have the battery fully charged before an all night cook. Once charged, in early testing I’m finding its battery life to be incredible. In eight hours of continuous use, the rechargeable battery still has 95% capacity! (This all assumes that the app battery meter is fully accurate but I have no reason to believe it’s not.) 3) A better probe design. The IBT-6X has eight inch probes. The length can get in the way if trying to place these too-long probes in meat on the top shelf of the grill and when measuring grate temps, too. The new IBT-4XS probes are just six inches long and thus an improvement in usability. 4) A sleek new design for the base unit. Both Inkbird model designs are great but the new one is even more streamlined and user friendly. Thus far, Inkbird has only one model with this new design, the IBT-4XS reviewed here. With four included probes, and four probe ports, it’s likely the best choice for most users who would not typically need up to six probes. However, I also hope Inkbird will also consider a six probe version of this model. Folks like me will at times find a use for the additional ports. For the average user, four is perfect but you may find two ports not enough if you are an avid cook. 5) The display is rotatable in case the probe wires get in the way when attached to your grill. Also relating to the base unit, it’s easy to insert the plug and not realize if it’s not fully in. If you get an inaccurate reading, it’s likely you need an extra push to be sure the plug fully clicks in. Otherwise, the unit is very user friendly, and well designed. Small suggestions to make this absolutely superb product even more user friendly: 1) Color coding. Both the plug end that sticks into the base unit, and the probe end need color coding ability to match the six color choices in the excellent BBQ-GO app. I’ve been working around this with colored masking tape that works fine. 2) Cord wrap system. This would work perfectly with color coding ability. However, neither of these user-convenience suggestions are deal breakers. 3) Please don’t make major changes to the app, Inkbird. Love it! (see attached picture) But its graphing capabilities are in need of an upgrade. 4) The new probes wires, at 5’ are in my opinion too long. A cord wrap system would also help to keep the wires best organized. Again, this isn’t a major complaint but 4’ feet long like the earlier generation probe wires is probably the ideal length. Having now used three Inkbird models, I believe my new IBT-4XS will be just as perfectly reliable as my IBT-6X. Most people, including me, will never need a far more expensive wifi thermometer like the Fireboard, since the Inkbird Bluetooth range is simply fantastic. Thus, the IBT-4XS seems to hit the perfect sweet spot—just the right number of probes (4) for most users, a fantastic app to monitor temps and customize settings, and an easy to view, charge, and use base unit. The Inkbird IBT-4XS is the best Bluetooth thermometer on the market I have yet seen. I highly recommend it.

I purchased the Inkbird IBT-4XS a couple of days ago. After a couple of days of use, I feel comfortable giving my review. Pros: • The LED display cycles between the 4 probes and clearly displays the reading. • I love the 4 probes. They are not overly large and allow me to insert them into the meats without tearing it up. Testing with ice water and boiling water revealed that all 4 probes were perfectly calculated. • The Bluetooth connection is strong enough for me to use the thermometer in my smoker (in the backyard) and keep a connection throughout entire the house. • BB Go is a great app with presets, customizable temperature settings, and customizable alarms. All of which work simply and flawlessly. • Battery life has been long enough for a 6 hour cook. Cons: • So far I have not found any negatives to this product Overall, I am incredibly happy with this product and highly recommend it.

I recently purchased this 4 probe grilling thermometer, replacing a cheap thermometer that I had used for years. I hardly consider myself a BBQ pro, but I do my fair share of smoking and grilling. This unit is perfect for my needs, and gives me features that I didn't even know that I wanted. First of all, the unit is incredibly accurate. I compared temperatures with a thermometer that my neighbor has, and both were within a degree or two of each other each time we checked. This unit ran almost 10 degrees warmer than what my built in grill thermometer said, which shows you should never just rely on that. Get yourself an accurate reading if you want the best BBQ. The Bluetooth option is my favorite. While I do enjoy hanging out by the smoker, watching the temperature for fluctuation, I can now go about my business and do other things while my phone sends me alerts if the temperature gets too hot, or too cold. You can set alerts for different meat types, and cooking temperatures as well, so you know exactly when your favorite cut of meat is cooked perfectly. I highly recommend this product. For the price, you're not going to find a better unit.

Was easy to use. I charged it over night and then d/l the app and matched it to my phone by the app. Had no problem receiving signals in the BT range whether I was indoors or out. The probes are long enough to house the transmitter out of the grill without a problem. I used two probes for the grill temp and two for meat temperature. All where accurate and the same as a stand alone digital thermometer I have. The app lets you set alarms for the 4 probes. You can tell it if a probe is for temperature in a meat or the grill and get alarms as you want. Let me walk away from the smoker more to do other things and then be alerted when the fire needed to be stoked again. You can silence the alarms on your phone/tablet or the transmitter itself. Numbers are on the transmitter are easy to read and cycle at a nice speed, not to fast. I will be using this anytime I smoke something from now on.

Just got the inkbird with 4 probes for use on a large smoker. If you're doing lots of meat this thing is amazing. I smoked 2 pork loins and a boson butt on the first outing, which left 1 probe for the grate. I can't believe I waited so long. The probe wires are nice and long. The unit is lightweight and the magnets are strong enough to hold it in place. Not sure about how heat resistant the whole thing is, so be mindful where you put it. This is overkill for one-off uses, and I'd skip it if I had a pellet smoker. But for a stick burner or a charcoal burner, this makes monitoring the temp easy. Great gift for anybody who likes to cook low and slow on a smoker. PROS - Easy temperature readouts, easy to use app, presets for different meats with ability to add your own, alarm options for a specific temp or a rage, so good for monitoring the highs and lows on a smoker. CONS - No replaceable battery. This probably won't be a huge deal, but I like to have control of things like that.
