Great replacement fixture

We purchased this to replace a standard fluorescent fixture in our laundry room that was just not bright enough. That is not a problem now. This fixture lights up the room like the sun. I love it enough I'm going to purchase more to replace my garage lights. Very happy with this purchase. I can't speak as to the ease of installation since I found a handyman to do that for me.

Very nice, but a few things you should know first ...

I ordered the 4000k pure white version, but the box showed up with the 5000k option checked, which had me concerned. I wired a temporary plug onto it just to test, and it was indeed 4000k, no telltale bluish tint. I have 2 twin tube 4ft. fluorescent fixtures mounted in my garage, so I removed one and installed the LED fixture in it's place to do a direct comparison. The LED fixture does put out more lumens at 50 watts than the fluorescent does at 68 watts. I would describe the light quality as "brilliant" and "sparkling" compared to the fluorescent, not soft at all. It's almost garish, certainly too harsh to use inside a house, it's only for garages and laundry rooms. The color is as cold white as you can get without venturing into bluish daylight color. This particular unit has a very slight turn-on delay, I'd say one fifth of a second. Much faster than the flicker start of fluorescents, but not instant like LED reading lamp bulbs. The LEDs are not directly wired to power, there is an electronic "driver" in between; that must be the cause of the delay. This unit utilizes LED tape strips, not LED filled tubes. The only advantage I can see of the fluorescent fixture is horizontal lighting: since the tubes hang below the metal into the diffuser, they better illuminate the ceiling, and where the ceiling meets the wall, and create generally more soft diffuse light. LEDs are much more directional. The LED tape strips, being recessed up into the "W" profile of the fixture, create more of a cone of light that leaves a hotspot pool on the floor about the size of a car's footprint. They don't illuminate sideways quite as well as fluorescents, but still better than chain-hanging shop lights. Never having to replace bulbs and ballasts again overrides any negatives. I just hope those drivers don't go bad over time like ballasts do. I did a price comparison at the local hardware stores, the orange store had one with identical specs for more than TWICE the price, and the blue store didn't have anything to match. So I'm thrilled with these.

Excellent LED 4' Fixture

Great LED 4' replacement fixture, glad to be rid of my old florescent light with the fragile bulbs and burned out ballasts. I would definitely purchase again!

Bright light

When the light came in I wasn't sure I was going to like it.I thought there was no way this light was going to be bright enough but to my surprise this light is very bright.I love it

ANYONE CAN INSTALL IT!

The packaging was simple and easy to open, very light, only 3 wires to connect if you don't have a ground wire just connect it to the metal electrical box or the cable because they are both grounded.

Good lights, wrong color label

I initially left a poor review, but I have since pulled that negative report. The lights came in a timely manner, were nicely packaged, and were mislabeled (which is why I left my initial negative review). The box said they were 5k and I ordered 4k. The company quickly responded and said they were the correct color even though the label said otherwise. The lights are relatively easy to install, however, I took several extra steps which went beyond the instructed installation method. I added blocking and junction boxes in the ceiling. Even though these lights are extremely light weight, I did not want the gyp. board to hold the weight of the lights. Also, I wanted to be able to service the electrical connections from above and the wire connections needed a safe housing. After turning on the lights, the color was exactly as it should be - 4k. These lights are bright, have a good color, and are provided at a good price point. Overall, I say this is an excellent purchase, although they should remedy the wrong color label on the box...

Nice and bright

Nice and bright. Using them in a garage work area. Surprised to see no bulbs. Thought they were missing but soon noticed that led tape lights were installed inside. Have had good experience with tape lighting on other projects. Tested wattage and just as advertized they registered at 78 watts. Good for energy savings. Need to know that these need to be hard wired. This is typical for ceiling fixtures. Instant on and just as bright in cold temps (40 degrees). So far, a good product. Len

Bright

Used this to replace a four bulb florescent fixture and have found this to be noticeable brighter. If you need bright illumination for a work space or a kitchen this is an awesome lamp!

Nice and bright

I ordered two of these last week and my husband installed them in the garage at the weekend. They are lovely and bright. They were easy to install. I would buy these again in the future if we need more.

Great light and easy to install.

I bought 2 of these for a standard 2 car garage. Perfect amount of lighting. Easy to install. I did have a minor issue because the junction box I had in the ceiling would require the lights to be oriented incorrectly. I just installed them directly to the sheetrock. Packaging could be an issue. One of the lights had a large gouge on the side of the box. Fortunately the light wasn't damaged.
