Before purchasing this protractor bundle I was setting my turntable tonearm height like everyone else-by eyeing it from the side and relying on my best judgement to where true horizontal was. The acrylic protractor took away the uncertainty in that step as now it's clear where level is by using the block as a reference. I had been using an azimuth gauge that was downloaded & printed and I was always skeptical if the spindle hole was really dead center. Keeping the paper from curling when not in use was also a problem, but now that's all been solved with the solid plastic version that was part of this bundle. Setting up a turntable is daunting for many, but with the good You Tube videos available and tools like this easily bought on Amazon that job is made much easier. These tools will pay for themselves if you like to change phono cartridges for test or listening purposes, with the only additional thing you'll need is a small digital scale to measure and set tracking force-these are also readily available on Amazon.

A must for proper turntable setup...

Cheap investment to make sure you have your tonearm and headshell dialed in. Using your eyes without these tracer lines is not accurate - a smidge off is a lot when you look at the complexity of the tracking angles for tonearms and cartridges - they absolutely impact the quality of playback. Suggestion: I placed a yellow post-it note to the back of the gauge to make the lines easier to see. The clear background can make it a challenge - the yellow background of the post-it note makes it very easy.

Well made

It's solid and well made, the markings are clear, and it is accurate. It is a bit smaller than I expected, but the size is clearly stated in the description. I'm not sure that this is entirely necessary to have, but if you want things to be absolutely aligned, go for it! My new turntable was perfectly set up at the factory, so I didn't have to adjust anything, but it was nice to confirm it.

Accurate Alignment Tools

Great alignment tools for adjusting stylus tracking on your turntable. I had to adjust my cartridge a few times with the help of the protractor to get perfect tracking for playing my vinyl collection. A little tricky to use at first but once you figure it out you're all set for flawless playback. Nice tool to have if you ever plan on changing out carts.

Solid and well made. Must have tools to align the cartridge. It's been a while since I had to change a cartridge and this azimuth and protractor are integral to the alignment process. Clear instructions, too.

trust the instrument not your eyes

Having these tools made aligning and azimuth a snap. Had a cardboard cut out that came with cartridge but these tools put that to shame. Do yourself a favor and position the cartridge perfectly. It pays off in sound quality. Also very easy to use and trust the lines on the measuring device. Your eyes may say different but its spot on.
