No longer skeptical
I was very skeptical about this radio when i bought it. Some of the added components are pretty cheap, but then, so was the price. I have been using this radio for 11 months and not had the first problem with it. The programming cable set up in my windows 10 computer without argument, the radio has survived a tough life and still looks and works great. Both antennas have served well. The original rubber duck is the typical lossy duck that comes with any Baofeng, so I can't deduct stars for that. The additional antenna does extend the range of the radio when I am in a weak location. The ear bud that comes additional works great with my iPhone when I'm in the car. That was a pleasant surprise. I would have no problems buying another one just like this. It's well worth the money and has served me well. =================================== UPDATE ========================================= June 2019 I've had this radio for 15 months now. As for the radio, I have had no real problems. I did break the ear piece when it hung up on something, but that was my fault. I also broke the belt clip, so I ordered a few replacements. I'm still using the first replacement and I'm more careful getting in and out of the car, LOL. The wall-wart gave out a few months ago, so I replaced it with one of the dozens I have in my closet. Sunday, I realized that the charging base died, too. It's been 15 months, so that's not too bad. It did leave me without a way to charge the radio, for now. Replacement chargers are about $10-15 and I wanted two of them. But, instead of buying a charger, I bought two more Baofeng Radios with chargers for not very much more. I live within 2 miles of the repeater I almost exclusively use, so the duck works fine at home. When I'm further away, the whip antenna has pulled me through. Further than that, I have a 75 Watt mobile with high-gain antenna. Other UV-5 radios cost about $25+ and the charging cable about $12+ so, for $37, you get a an extra antenna, battery, and mic or ear piece, and car adapter, free. In my book, that's an excellent deal. The radio has served, and still is serving, me well. I'll keep the 5 star rating.

The price of reasonable amateur radio gear is dramatically lower than it used to be.
This is a remarkable collection of radio plus accessories for the price! A couple of decades ago, these handi-talkies were $200-$400. Just a couple of years ago, the radio alone was about $40. Now for that price, you get valuable accessories. Battery life is great as is, epecially if you do mostly listening. But having a spare battery means you can really disconnect from the grid for quite a while. And the auxilliar speaker/mic provides a convenient port to plug the audio into your car's entertainment system, for beefier sound. All-in-all, a great value from an excellent supplier (VITAHUI).

Great Value
I purchased this radio to listen on Jeep runs as my Jeep group has transitioned to ham radio almost exclusively for the clarity and reach of the signal. It has worked really well. I used CHIRP to program and it was a breeze. The included cord worked well and I had no issues programming. After getting this Baofeng, I passed my technician license and now am able to transmit on this radio. I can easily hit local repeaters easily. For the price, this is an outstanding value and great to have even if you just want something for a SHTF scenario. I plan on adding a 50W ham radio to my Jeep that will also act as a repeater. That way I will still be able to use the Baofeng outside the Jeep and get the full power of the higher powered radio. Honestly, you should get your license, but if you don't have it yet, this is a good radio to have around even if it is just to listen in in case of disaster. *********************************************************************************************************************************************** I rely on reviews when I make purchases so I put a lot of time into reviewing everything I buy on Amazon for personal and my business. It's a good starter radio
I bought this because I wanted to get into HAM radio. So far I've only been listening since my name isn't in the FCC database yet. The NOAA broadcasts alone are worth the investment in this radio. The additional mic, charging unit, car charger and other accessories make it well worth the price.

Using everything in this kit...
This kit is an amazing deal for your money. I've been using everything included for the last 4 months. Everything is holding up as it should. The mic is nice for having audio at my shoulder, this lets me hear everything better since it is closer to my ear. The extended antenna is great for reception while the radio remains attached to my hip. I'm rotating between the two batteries. A battery gives me 3 days of heavy use. People are complaining about the clip breaking off of the radio. I take the radio off my side when I'm going to be sitting. It can't handle much stress, maybe this will help your clip last longer. The radio does need to be programmed with CHIRP software. This is easily done by finding information on the internet. The software is free and an internet search points you in the right direction. At the time of writing this everything is holding up fine. As with any of my reviews, if anything changes I'll update this review.

Great value for cost.
Bought on the recommendation of a local ham preparedness net. These affordable radios enable even those on a budget to have alternative comes. This bundle with extra battery and upgraded antenna is a deal. Use CHIRP software to program not included disk.

Good radios for a fair price
I was amazed at what came in the box for the price especially with the customer service due to the programming cable not functioning with my Mac to program the radio. I contacted the seller and he proceeded to try very hard to make it right but I believe problem lies with the cable just not working with Mac. The radio and all the other enclosed items worked just great and yes I did have to buy a more expensive programming cable that was Mac compatible but with technology as it is I wasn’t surprised that the second cable sent still didn’t work. The package I bought was amazing for the price and we used it with our Motorola radios after programming without issue. The seller went above and beyond trying to fix our cable problem but after 3 cables it was time to just buy a Mac compatible cable. Problem fixed and I’m a happy customer of this company.

Good value for the price
Great kit. However, I can't get the program to connect with the radio. So I had to manually program it. Otherwise good product

Charge batteries. Have fun.
I haven't had a chance to put this in the weather yet, but this little radio rocks! Sound quality is great. I usually run it through the microphone attachment. I still need to program it but the channels ive found are pretty cool. He range is great, i was picking up stuff like 45 miles away during a snowstorm. You do have to charge the batteries before use. And the battery release button is on the top between the antenna and volume control. Literally says "release" I have every intention on buying at least 2 more. Keep one at home and one in the vehicle. Ill update this review once i get it in he field and put it to real use

Excellent Radio - Excellent price with many accessories
Excellent Item and a real bargain for the price - plus love all the accessories included in the purchase price: extra battery, desk charger with mobile cable, Speaker/Mic, earphone/mic, programming cable/software, and an extra high-gain whip antenna. I had already downloaded software to program the frequencies I was interested in installing prior to its arrival, and after a few false starts, got it programmed. Primarily got the radio to cover GMRS and GMRS repeaters but was happy it also has my favorite VHF/UHF amatuer radio frequcies/repeaters plus MURS and the dot radios.
