Lots of features, very configurable, great picture
Even though it says WiFi, it also works fully wired (Ethernet) in addition to fully wireless (2.4GHz WiFi). This is a nice option if you have Ethernet nearby. You need to connect to your local network via a wired cable just long enough to tell the camera what WiFi to use, then you can disconnect it and use WiFi. You can directly connect to the camera via it's IP address in any web browser (IE is best for configuring motion detection). No software needed, even for setup. It works great on Windows, Mac (even though they say it doesn't), Linux, etc. You can also connect to it via the CamHi phone app and several others Windows apps that know how to talk to the camera. Day and night vision look great. I'm finding night vision attracts tons of bugs and triggers the motion detection, but seems to be an issue with all IR LED cameras. This camera does support adding a remote motion sensor, which is the correct solution for bugs. Instructions are a bit skimpy, but there are lots of docs and videos on the website. To install an optional SD card, you do need to remove the 4 screws around the lens to access the SD slot - very simple and just takes a couple minutes. Camera feels solid and looks nice. It has a decent field of view, but is stationary and doesn't supporting panning or zooming. You don't need any cloud storage, monitoring service, monthly fees, etc. to use this camera. It is very open to just letting you use it however you want. It can send email alerts. It can store regular and alert snapshots/videos on the SD card. It can also live transfer all this data to a FTP server. Most versions of Windows have a built in FTP server that you can enable and configure. I have all my cameras save images and videos on my PC hard drive. For now, I'm doing snapshots every 30 seconds and videos+snapshots for motion.

Easiest setup and very good clarity! I opted for a wireless camera since I did not want to run a POE cable and had an outlet that was close by. I have to say, this is by far the fastest software setup I have ever done. Follow the instructions that came with the box, it says plug the camera using the network cable to your router first. I then installed CAM-HI on my phone which was connected to my wifi. When I added the camera from the CAM-HI app using the "Search Camera from LAN" it found it right away. Typed in the default user and password and voia, access to the stream! I had old 16gb memory cards lying about and used it and since the SV3C rotated the recording, I had no qualms about the size of the memory card, I also am storing the alarm recording to an FTP server, which is the very reason I bought this camera -- the FTP storage. If someone messed with this camera, I still got the recordings on the FTP server. The picture quality is superb even during night time. I highly recommend this over the other wifi camera simply because of the FTP storage, which will not lock me into any of the other camera which offers cloud storage service fee. I have it mounted in the front facing the street as can be seen in my sample. Update 10/7/2018: This camera still works perfectly for me. To those who are nervous about security and don't want to use the default phone app, an alternative is to use Onvifer but you have to know how to open up ports on your router and do port forwarding. Onvifer app will actually scan these ip cam automatically and on the WAN setting will tell you what changes you need to do in order for these ip cam to be accessible from your mobile phone.

Great image quality and solid aluminum construction at an amazing price
This camera is such a remarkable value. I have no idea how they can make and ship the thing for about $40. I couldn’t be more impressed. Build Quality: The overall construction quality of the camera is very high. The housing is made of cast aluminum and feels nice and solid. The articulating mount allows full motion pan/tilt/rotation in order to mount and aim the camera very precisely. The housing is gasketed in the front with a neoprene o-ring to protect both the camera internals and (if you install one) the microSD card. Software and Installation: This part is what most people are probably going to have the most trouble with. The documentation that comes with the camera could definitely use some improvement. Let me start out with some pro-tips that would have saved me a lot of time if I knew them ahead of time. Note that I installed the iPhone version of the software and can’t speak at all as to how the Android software works. 1. Like the instructions say - If your wireless router has both 2.4 and 5GHz radios in it, you will need to go into your router settings (usually by typing http://192.168.1.1 into your web browser and entering the admin password) and temporarily disable the 5GHz radio. You CAN re-enable it after you get the camera configured and installed, it just has to be disabled while you configure the thing and add it to your network. 2. The CamHi software seems to be designed to support a couple different model cameras and because of this can be a little bit confusing. After you plug it into the routers LAN port with the short Ethernet cable and click “add camera”, *ignore* the button that says “wireless installation”. Even though that sounds useful. That must be for a different camera or something. Instead, click “search camera from LAN” and the app should detect the camera. Add it and then after it shows up in your list of cameras, click the little “gear” looking icon to the right of the camera 3. While as far as I know there is no Web GUI for managing camera settings from a Mac/PC You CAN view the feed from this camera from a Mac/PC/Linux so long as it is on the same LAN as the camera. Simply download and install VLC (Video LAN Client) Go to File, Open Network (Ctrl + N or Command N on Mac) and type or paste “ rtsp://192.168.X.X:554/11 “ without the quotes, obviously. Change the X.X to whatever the IP adress of the camera is. In my case it is rtsp://192.168.1.5:554/11 You can find out what the local IP of your camera is by opening your routers configuration page usually. If you don’t know, you can type rtsp://192.168.1.X:554/11 and just keep trying different numbers for X incrementing from 1 all the way on up until you find your camera. Overall, this camera is an incredible value for the price. As this is my first Wi-Fi IP camera, I don’t have anything to compare it to; but this camera has greatly exceeded my expectations. After I got the first one set up at my apartment, I immediately ordered a second one for my parents. For the price, you really can’t beat the thing.

Simple to setup, very well built.
The cameras came very well packaged with plenty of padding to protect the items inside. The quality of the camera is immediately apparent, they have a nice heft to them and are made mostly out of metal. The three wires used to connect, power, and reset the camera is a bit awkward, but it works. Installing the microSD is also a bit tricky. After unscrewing the 4 screws holding the camera together, you have to slide out the electronics of the camera to access the microSD slot. There is no indication of which direction the microSD card goes in, so be careful when inserting it. Setting up the camera via the app was very easy. You connect it directly to your router with a supplied cat5 cable, go through the set up on the app, and enter your wifi password for your wifi network. This information is then stored on the camera which can then connect to your wifi network easily. The quality of the video is very nice as well. Be careful though, the default quality of the app is SD, not HD. But you can change this with one click in the app. I would definitely recommend this for an economical and high-quality camera.

Great Picture - Painful FTP setup that should have been easy
UPDATE *10/24/2018* Received an email from seller, offering a refund or another camera. As I noted earlier in my review, the picture quality is 5 stars, still is. Getting the features to work the way they should is a difficult learning curve. Some additional things I've learned: For the Email setting, if you have 2 step verification enabled in your email (such as gmail), it will never work, but won't tell you why, leading you to believe it is the incorrect password. I created a separate gmail account purely for camera communication, and set its 2-step verification to off in the google account settings. Key Settings for Emails that contain picture attachments: SMTP Server = smtp.gmail.com Server Port = 465 Encrypt Type SSL Authentication = ON Username = myCamAccount@gmail.com Password = myPassword Send to = myCamAccount@gmail.com Sender = myCamAccount@gmail.com Subject = Motion Camera 1 The test button will send a single test message with a picture to the account if all works well. Takes about 10-20 seconds when it does work. The WiFi has been very stable, unlike some other cameras I have. The false triggering of motion has proven to be difficult to avoid. This has been true on most cameras I've tried. Bugs are drawn to the the infrared lights, and trigger the camera motion. The sensitivity settings even set very low still trigger for this. Still a pretty good camera, with common limitations. At this price point, it's a very good value. ****** First, if I was rating the camera for picture quality, I'd give it 5 stars. The setup on the IOS CamHi app was initially pretty smooth. The documentation is awful. Installing the Micro SD card was a simple matter of 4 screws and pushing it down into the slot until it clicked. Card contacts toward front of camera. The motion detection allows selection of a portion of the screen and then a level of 1-100 for sensitivity. This will take some trial and error. I wanted this camera primarily for the FTP capability, so that the picture files are stored in a secure location even if the camera is taken. Connecting to my Netgear ReadyShare through FTP using the phone app proved to be a 6 hour ordeal. The lack of screenshots with proper settings required trying every combination imaginable, none of them working. I finally installed the Windows application that also had a screen for setting FTP configurations and tried them all again. After working through every combination again, one finally worked. Key setting values: Server Addr = just the IP address, nothing else. example 10.10.1.1 Server Port = 21 User Name - appears to be case sensitive. You must use security. If you have your FTP server setup locally without outside connections, you still have to require a sign-in. On Netgear ReadyShare, by default no security is required. Be sure to enable popups when working in the Netgear config screens, or you will never see the screen where you turn this on. Chrome never would popup the screen, had to use Edge to get it. Password (case sensitive) Passive Mode - I've set mine to off, but it works both ways. Path - My root folder name is usb, so I set this value to usb/ I hope this saves someone else a headache. I'm going to reset everything and try it again and see if I can get it all to setup from within the app only. I'll update this post later. Well, that stinks. I reset the camera, and was able to blow through the setup in just a couple of minutes on the CamHI app. Until I got to the FTP... Using the previous working values that I captured in a screenshot from both the Windows app and the CamHI app, I am unable to get the FTP to connect using just the CamHI application. I will have to go into the Windows app again, which I removed entirely using a restore point and set the values there. Some kind of bug in the CamHI app. Once the values get set by the Windows app, the CamHI app works, but not until they are first set by the Windows app. PLEASE FIX AND TEST THE FTP PORTION OF THE CAMHI APP!

Read some bad reviews on this camera
Read some bad reviews on this camera, bought 2 of them ,set up is super easy . You do need a micro sd for recording. Installing the sd card is not that hard you just need to take the front 4 screws off and pull the circuit board out....with a little patience it will take you 2 minutes. The picture is amazing take some time and play around with the settings . So glad I ignored the bad reviews I highly reccomend this camera.

This is an amazing camera for the price. I bought two
I purchased two of these for my home after a breakin. I wanted something that records all the time when there's movement and records it until I want access to it. This one does that and more. I put 16gb HS card in them, which requires taking off the 4 front screws. The recording of files happens in increments with dates and times. The motion detection is selectable at 3 levels. I set the outdoor one to 1 because there was a tree moving in the front area and it was recording it. Perfect. The one in the hallway is set to 3. The files record over the old ones when it gets full. I set the bit rate to high and the resolution is beautiful if the settings on the bit rate and quality are set to max. Downloaded camhi on my galaxy s7 and it works flawlessly, although the language is a bit rough, it's workable.

Great Outside HD Camera
This is a great camera. It is easy to set up and get running right away. I have it outside and during the day, the views are high definition, clear and bright. At night, the infrared picks up faint light and heat allowing for good viewing. Highly recommend this, well worth the price.
