- FITS: Almost all water heaters including; Rheem, Reliance, Richmond, Kenmore, State, GE and many more that also use the standard ¾" NPT Anode Rod Connection. The INCLUDED 1-1/16” Deep Well Socket will fit and remove your old anode rod and install your new anode upgrade. You can be certain that you won’t have any leaks by using the INCLUDED Full Roll of Pipe Sealing Teflon Tape. The Large Roll of Teflon Tape leaves you with plenty left over for the next time you check your anode rod’s condition.
- GET RID OF THE EMBARRASSING ROTTEN EGG SMELL IN YOUR HOME with our Aluminum / Zinc Anode Rod! Did you know that the magnesium anode rod inside your hot water tank is the number one key contributor to the production of your smelly, hydrogen sulfide gas? About Fluid solved this problem by creating a flexible anode rod made from an Aluminum/Zinc Alloy, instead of magnesium. This unique alloy works everyday, controlling and killing the bacteria responsible for the sulfur and rotten egg smelling gas.
- LEARN FROM PROFESSIONALS using our Easy-To-Follow, Step-by-step instructions. Our Licensed Plumbers and Instructors have decades of experience. They gathered together and documented exactly how they install anode rods, and we have included every step in our manual. Our Instructions are written by Plumbers and translated for everyday problem-solvers like you. The Brass Cap is there to place on your drain, after you're done, just to be certain your floors are always dry.
- WATER HEATER INSTALLED IN A TIGHT SPACE? Even if your water heater is located in a small or tight space, this 44 Inch-long rod is hinged into four segments, less than 12 Inches long each. Each segment can be easily lowered, one-by-one, into your water heater. If the over-all length is a little too long(rare cases), just safely cut it shorter with a simple hacksaw. All you provide is a ½ Inch Ratchet or Breaker Bar, a few common hand tools, a friend and your favorite beverage! (not included).
- CHANGE THE ANODE ROD, NOT THE WATER HEATER.The anode rod in your water heater is designed to decay instead of your Water’s Heater Tank itself. Eventually, the anode rod is completely consumed (usually just before your water heater warranty is up) and the Water Heater Tank begins to decay and ultimately rusts, fails, cracks and leaks. This is why maintaining the anode rod (by checking and or replacing every 2 years) in your water heater insures the anode rod decays, and not your water heater!

Everything you need, except impact wrench
Kit includes everything you need. Flexible rod was must for me as I had no overhead clearance. 1-1/16" is standard size on all anode nuts. The included socket was heavy duty enough to take all the abuse I gave it. Could not loosen the old anode nut even with a 3 ft breaker bar, and I'm not a small person. Lowe's Kobalt 400 ft/lb impact wrench removed the old nut in seconds ($39). The impact wrench worked fine with my little 2.6 CFM 6 gallon compressor. I discovered my old anode rod was bad when my hot water lines started spewing something that looked like blue-green sand. My old water heater is 10 years old, hope it lasts another 10 years!

Buy one before calling anyone out.
Just bought a new house after living in a small house with no softener, was very excited for our new house with new softener, newer (or so we thought) electric water heater, well, everything. Then came our inspection, the inspector turned on the hot tap in the bathroom and nothing but black water came out of it and a terrible smell of sulphur. No-one's lived in here for years while they were renovating I concluded and we went about our business. Move in day and it's time for a shower, same thing but this time my silver wedding ring turned gold, a bit of Google and here we go, anode rod (old one in the picture). Cold water was perfect, hot, not so much. Bought this thing and so far so good. Couple of bits of advice. Instructions say old anode rod will be really tight, they weren't kidding. The best way I found was for me to pull on a 1/2 drive torque wrench loosening the nut whilst the wife held on to the long black bar pinned between the inlet and outlet fittings in the picture and turned to the right as I pulled to the left, water heater stayed nice and still, if not the water heater WILL move and put stress on the piping, you will have enough torque this way but slowly doing this is the key. Also, the rod in our heater was recessed quite considerably from the top of the heater and the opening isn't exactly generous. Not enough to need an extension but enough to make it a real pig to get the old one out once loosened, couldn't do it with two fingers, needed my index on one side and a flat screwdriver on the other.. Play with needle nose pliers or magnets to see if they'll help you. Overall brilliant product, great price, brilliant support and instructions.

All the parts included
This is great. A kit with the parts you need. Our hot water was just starting to get that sulphur/rotten egg smell so I knew it was past time to change out the anode. With only 17 inches of vertical clearance this flexible anode rod was perfect. The included 6-sided socket is high quality and the roll of teflon tape was a full size roll so don't be shy using it. If your water heaters drain doesn't seal completely after draining off some water don't worry, the included facet cap will most likely solve your problem. Although after trying to cut it to the length I required with a hacksaw I quickly gave up and got out the power tools and used a reciprocating saw. Work smarter not harder... I was fortunate and was able to remove the old anode with just a breaker bar. If it's really stuck you can try using a cheater bar or even an impact wrench. Another person can help keep the heater from spinning around. Hope your luck is good. Read the instructions and watch some videos. Be patient and think it through. Pay yourself, not a plumber.

WORKS INSTANTLY!
I just installed a new water heater I knew when I did it if I didn't take the anode out it would smell, but I am selling my house and didn't want to take it out on the next person to buy the house but the water really smelled bad, I went to the local water place and they said all I could do was take it out, I researched and found this I thought it's not too expensive and not very hard to do so I bought one, Best $45 I've ever spent! I thought it might take a day or 2 for the lines to clear out the stinky water but it was instant, no more smell...

This product WORKS !
We have heavy mineral content in our water and must backwash regularly. However, even with that regularly, the standard equipment anode rods supplied in most water heaters only make matters worse with eventual rotten egg smell. After some research and realizing the combination of Zinc and Aluminum anode rods deal with the sulphur and rotten egg smell, we ordered one. We had put in a new water heater to a separate bedroom in the house but it only took 6 months for the A.O. Smith water heater from Lowe's to produce water so smelly it made you sick. The really neat thing about the ABOUT FLUID product is its flexibility giving you the ability to not only deal with any size water heater, but in our case, we had 2 water heaters too close to the ceiling, so even tho you could pull out of old anode rod by bending it as you pull it out, you could not put the standard anode rods back in (with only 2 feet of distance between the top of the water heater and the ceiling). But with ABOUT FLUID flexible rods the installation is a piece of cake. I hardly ever give reviews but this product is so good, I decided to take the time to help others struggling with the same annoying issue. So, what were the results? Once installed and "flushed" thru the smelly water, our water is now pure and clean with no odor whatsoever.

Eliminated hot water rotten egg smell
We have well water, and our hot water smelled like rotten eggs. The problem got worse after installing a water softener. I verified the cold water held no smell coming from the well. Our water heaters are 6 years old, I changed to these Aluminum ZInc Anodes. Its been a week now and have ZERO SMELL! My well guy also suggested turning the thermostat up a bit which we did, about 10 degrees hotter. SO far So good! -Marty

Replace your Anode rod regularly!
I have a 10yr old hot water tank that has never had the rod replaced. The instructions on replacement were excellent. I had to borrow a 1/2" breaker bar, ratchet and 6" socket extender, and also had to use a cheater bar and hammer plus some swear words to generate enough torque to break the threads of the old rod. Despite being on city water, the old rod was almost completely consumed! The new rod went in very easily. You should also flush the tank of sediment after replacing the rod. The kit came with a very good quality socket plus a handy drain cap, and I was pleased with everything.

Perfect for my Rheem Hot Water heater-NO MORE ROTTEN EGGS!
I have an 80 Gallon Rheem water heater (rheem 82v80-2), and the factory anode rod with my well water caused a horrible rotten egg smell in the hot water. I don't have a softener. This kit had everything I needed, except a cheater bar to remove the old anode, which was stuck in place. I turned off the power at the breaker box, turned off the cold water input, opened a hot water tap in the house and drained out the bottom of the tank (about 10 gallons) using a hose. I then removed the old anode using the included socket and my 3 foot long cheater bar. I poured one container of household hydrogen peroxide into the tank through the hole. I then easily installed this multi-piece anode, using 6 layers of the included tape on the threads, counterclockwise. My head room is only 28", so the smaller connected pieces were perfect. I opened the cold water and put the power back on. I opened all of my hot water taps and drained water into my sinks and tubs for about 5 minutes, cleaning all the lines with the peroxide. I have smelled the rotten egg smell since!

No more rotten egg smell!
For several years, we have noted a rotten egg smell in our hot water. The Al-Zn anode rod immediately cured our problem. The kit had almost everything we needed; other vendors did not include the socket, which was a nice touch. In order to loosen the anode, we used a 24 inch length of 1" iron pipe for a cheater bar on the end of our 1/2" drive ratchet. Due to the tight space in the mechanical area of our basement, we could only do 2 clicks at a time on the ratchet, but the job went well. The instructions were well laid out. When this anode expires, I plan to contact About Fluid again.

Great solution to a nasty problem!
Great product, a solid solution to a nightmare situation if you know what I mean. I guess it's fairly common in tight spaces. I have just that in my basement. After cutting the old one to remove it, this one goes in as smooth as anything. I did have to shorten it by a few inches for my tank but not a big deal. Nice too that everything is included in the kit, but in the future I might like the option of buying just the rod as I won't need another socket. Just a thought. Also- the support was second to none. Email communication from the seller was great, even responded to a question late on a Saturday evening. You can't go wrong.
