Pricey, ... but you get what you pay for.

Worked well, and serves as an excellant indication of whether the room air purifier is working. The graphing function gives an excellent view of air quality in various rooms, and outside, with the recent regional forest fires. Fairly good correspondence with local EPA air quality reports. Generally pleased with the results, and understanding outside to inside airflows for the 2.5 micron particulate matter.

I can't say this is the best AQI meter out there (this is my first)

I have been using this consistently on a daily basis for several weeks now. I can't say this is the best AQI meter out there (this is my first), but so far it has been splendid. I tried measuring the air in Singapore (which is usually between 60-100), comparing between polluted air and cleaned air (I placed the unit in a room with an air purifier). Within a few seconds, the readings fell! There were times i used this to measure the air quality index with the aircon on, and I thought the meter was spolit (AQI shot up to above 150)....then I realized that the aircon filters are all full! Tried measuring overnight banana skins (these were slightly fermented in a bag) and true enough the readings shot up. Strongly recommended. Battery life is pretty good (fully charged unit only dropped by a bar after about 1hr)

A Better Choice

I have cycled through some of the cheaper air monitors on Amazon. I have found this one to be the most well made and consistent in readings.

Readings are accurate and very helpful

We were really glad that we had this unit during the Paradise fires last November. The readings outside generally paralleled the official air quality readings. But the surprises were indoors. We learned that there is lots of air coming in under doors and through ceiling vents that was very, very poor quality - even when we couldn't smell the smoke. When we turned on our air purifiers, the Temtop revealed that they were effective in reducing the AQI from 600, down to 30 or 40 within a couple of hours. We tested it repeatedly, and it works very well. Also, on a couple of occasions, we found that the AQI reported by Siri was completely wrong. When we could see and smell thick smoke, Siri was reporting that air quality was good (She doesn't usually do that, but occasionally she gets wrong information.) The Temtop let us know that the AQI was dangerously high, and we were able to make informed decisions about where to go, and how much exercise was safe for us. We also learned that the recirculate system in our car was doing a good job of filtering out smoke. AQI was worrisome inside (70-80.) But when we opened the window and checked outside, it was 400! Great information! Thank you Temtop!

Greatest Health Investment I've Made!!

I am 63 years old and have had a horrible time with sinus sensitivities. I just finished 3 rounds of antibiotics, allergy testing just to make sure, pneumonia shot just in case, and am now on an asthma inhaler and continuing with antihistamine sprays. Four days ago I was at my GP doc for a cholesterol lab read, Finally feeling the best I've felt in four months as I was now under the care of an allergist, I'm thinking I might live. GP is running late so I play on my phone. I go into patient room and have now been in her office about an hour. Coughing, gagging, sinus drainage down my throat starts.... yep, my doctor's office makes me sick!!! I could hardly talk to doctor and coughing was continuous. I looked at the floor of this 2 year old building and saw that it was laminate. I told doctor, I think it's the glue from your floor. This was the second time that I could recall this year going into her office healthy and coming out sick. I finally made the connection. I went home, got on the internet, then bought this product. The pictures speak for themselves. This is fast reading, easy to understand, keeps a continuous graph reading, and probably something I could have saved myself from having needless health issues if I had known. I almost went with a cheaper model, but people said they were toys compared to this one. I can't even tell you how life changing this instrument is for someone who suffers from bad air quality. Even my garage had safe, good air. I will be changing doctors unfortunately.

A terrific instrument

This meter is incredible. It self calibrates in a few seconds and is very accurate. I bought it mainly to check the potential hydro carbon pollution in my RV and it did a great job finding a problem which I could easily eliminate. So now I know I am breathing good air in the RV. But I did not expect needing it to check the air quality in my house or outside . I live in the west (Colorado) where we are having endless wildfires that send vast amounts of smoke in our direction. With this nifty meter I can see if the air is fit to breath, and whether I should close up the house or open the windows. It instantly tells me the many levels of pollution which range from "good" to "hazardous" so I can decide what kind of outdoor activity is OK for the conditions. You can't tell by just looking at the pollution- you need air quality numbers to be sure and this device delivers the goods. I can't imagine not having this meter to use. I highly recommend it.

A good one

(Actually 4.5 starts, but decided to round up) This is a great AQ detector. I tried other cheaper detectors before, and they always disappointed me due to unstable readings or the need to constantly calibrate. The user interface is simple and intuitive. The build quality is solid. I tested the unit in different situations: 1) Left it next to my laser printer, and as it starts printing the detectors detects the toner particles and spikes. 2) I cleaned my glasses with wipes, and for about 20 minutes the readings for gas were high in the whole room. 3) When vacuuming or the heater circulates the air, the dust in the air is detected. 4) and a few others... My only complain is the fixed time intervals of the graphs. For the first 30 seconds it reads every second (real time), after that it reads at longer intervals, and if you keep it on, the graph rescales and reads once every few minutes, which becomes very slow and impossible to monitor in real time. So, if you want a quick reading in real time, the unit has to be restarted. This could be limitation of the technology, but I wish there were better logging functions. Overall, very satisfied! If you wish a decent air quality detector, do not bother with anything below $100 even $150, those are toys.

Good quality, ergonomic, and easy to operate.

I tried a few portable AIQ meters here on Amazon for up to $200 and this one was the clear winner. Good quality and easy to operate and much better even than the more expensive M2000 from the same company.
