This one is a winner - hands down!
As always, FitBark comes through with another home run in their latest FitBark 2 model. The new design and battery capacity is awesome. Easy to attach and power up when needed. The support from Sara and team in un-parallel to others in this stream. The FitBark 2 is slightly larger than the original but it is hardly noticeable. As an individual that works in data analysis the ability to download you data for your own analytics is great. They provide great reporting for your dogs health, mileage, sleep and estimated calorie burn. Thank you FitBark for improving on an awesome product. I am looking forward to seeing what your team comes up with next.

Such a good way to hold yourself accountable! No problems here and battery life is incredible!
I started grad school last summer and brought my 9-year-old Catahoula with me. We moved from a 10 acre farm into a neighborhood and he gained 7 pounds (normally only 55 Ibs) by Christmas. Getting a Fitbark was the best thing I could have done for my dog! Looking at his activity points encourages me to take him out when I'm exhausted and make one more lap around the neighborhood when I'm ready to go inside. I can share his profile with my boyfriend so we can work together to make sure the dog gets enough exercise. The best part is that I charged it on December 25 and didn't have to charge it again until March 22nd even though I used it every day in between. I personally haven't had any problems with the cap so far. My only small complaint is that sometimes I don't think the dog gets any more bark points for running than he does for walking BUT I haven't taken the time to sync the device's bark points over one mile for my dog. I've never taken the time to review an item, but I just had to share how much I love the Fitbark.

Great monitor
Our German Shepherd is on the "chunky" side besides having hip dysplasia and our vet said he needed to be on a diet and she wanted to know his activity level. Even though he is going to daycare 5 days a week (high energy), he was not losing any weight (was he eating the small dogs for treats?). So, we got him a FitBark and we now track his activity. When he's low on that level, we ask why and it's usually "belly rub day for him" and he DOESN'T do anything else until he's satisfied with their attention. Last month I took him to his "weight watchers meeting" (vets) he had lost 3 lbs. It measures his calorie count, how well he sleeps that night and how he is feeling along with other factors. He can now keep up with our other dog when he gets home. Pretty amazing and worth every penny.

A decent fitbit for dogs.
Have had fitbits through the years and the idea of one for my pup caught my attention. A great way to see how active and how much sleep your dog is getting. The app is rich with stats on play time, active, and sleep times in minutes for each day. Their bark points is taking some getting use to but definitely can follow your dogs activities. Only had this for about a week so can't attest to charge times or longevity but is doing well so far. Had a concern about the tie wraps that hold the unit on the collar in relation to charging. This won't be a problem though. Once you remove the cover, the charging port is accessible while tie wrapped to the collar. Would suggest you inspect the two ties each time you recharge the unit because they do wear over time. Impressed by this product so far.

The best dog activity monitor on the market just got better!
Over the past four years we have used a variety of activity monitors for our dogs and the Fitbark has stood out among them all. Over the past two years our original Fitbark served our pack of three dogs well. But the new Fitbark 2 is a welcome upgrade in a lot of ways. We love it. I’ll go into some details below. One of the things we loved about the original Fitbark was its size and shape. Shaped like a bone it fits well against a collar. It’s relatively small size is great for dogs of all sizes, unlike some of the competitors. The Fitbark 2 is slightly larger than the original but it’s still small enough that it fits well on our smallest 5lb chihuahua, Liberté. The other big upgrade here is the way the Fitbark 2 attaches to the collar. Originally it was attached with two rubber bands. We never had any trouble with that system but some people did. The new Fitbark uses a ziptie method that is sure to stand up to just about anything. It even comes with extra zip ties if you want to change out your dogs collar. It’s a huge upgrade compared to the old method. Perhaps the biggest change is the battery life. With the original Fitbark we could get 7 to 10 days on a charge. With three dogs that’s a lot of charging. The new Fitbark 2 is estimated to get up to 6 months on a single charge. Yes, you read that right. Six months between charges. In our first test I can say we got just over five months on our first charge. In a year that means from charging 40 or 50 times to maybe twice. That means more uninterrupted monitoring of your favorite furry friend. One of the most fun upgrades to the Fitbark 2 is the ability to buy different colored covers. With the original Fitbark you bought a particular color for your dog and that was it. Now the Fitbark 2 comes in a standard black but you can buy covers for a few bucks to switch out depending on your dogs fashions sense. It may seem silly but I love it. This cover is what you pop off in order to charge the Fitbark. One last upgrade I’ll mention is the charging port. In the original Fitbark the charging port was a standard USB mini. It had a rubber cap that would cover it to help with water proofing; but many of us took extra precautions to protect the Fitbark for our swimming pups, like wrapping them in water balloons or a surgical gloves finger etc. The new Fitbark 2, however, has a radically different charging port that uses a simple contact point so there is no possibility of water getting into the device. The new Fitbark 2 is definitely a more rugged device than the original. In the years we have been using Fitbark some things have not changed. The Fitbark team offers unparalleled customer service. One example is apropos of the how diligent they are at helping. I was having a problem with the wifi base station. I told the Fitbark customer support what equipment I was using. It seemed to be my AirPort Extreme was not communicating correctly with the base station. Fabrizio, the guy that was helping me, told me he was going to head over to the Apple store and get one so that he could do some tests in his office. He did exactly that and then got back to me with a fix. I was impressed. I am not exaggerating when I say it’s the best customer service I’ve ever experienced. If you’re wondering what the Fitbark actually does or why anybody would want one, I can only say that I look at it as investment in my relationship with my dogs. By monitoring their activity levels it keeps me honest on these cold and dreary North East winters to make sure our pups get the exercise and activity they need and want. But it also monitors their inactivity which is vitally important. You might have a general idea of how much activity you get your dog but it can be nearly impossible to monitor their sleep and this is where the Fitbark shines. A big change in your dogs sleeping patterns is a sure sign that something is amiss. It has definitely helped us in monitoring our oldest dogs health and get him to the vet sooner than we would have other wise. We absolutely love the new Fitbark 2. It’s more rugged than the original. It has an insane battery life. And you’ve got the ability to swap out different colored covers. If you run into any problems you have one of the best customer support teams in existence. If you’ve gotten this far in the review it’s time to add the Fitbark 2 to your cart. You and your dog will not regret it.

Best Dog and Horse Activity Monitor, Big Battery Life Improvement on Original FitBark!
We absolutely love our FitBarks! We use them for both our dogs and our horses. This activity monitor has changed the way we medicate and monitor our animals! We have a horse, Stetson, who suffers from laminitis which causes his feet to hurt resulting in decreased movement. The FitBark allows us to track his movement throughout the day and see a breakdown of his movement from hour to hour. Our vet absolutely loves that she can easily access his information! She simply downloaded the app, and we added her as a veterinarian user for Stetson’s FitBark profile. Now our veterinarian is able to check in on Stetson whenever she would like! Tracking his movement has let us catch when he is having a bad day and offer pain medication early on, before he visually starts limping! We LOVE this! We also use our FitBarks for our Blue Heelers, Brisket and Pancake, who love to swim. The original FitBark was also waterproof, but our dogs definitely put that to the test; they absolutely love the pool! After hours of swimming in the pool we had one of our original FitBarks stop working, and we believe it was due to too much splash time! That hasn’t been the case with the FitBark 2; this activity monitor has handled all day swimming with no problems! The battery life in the FitBark 2 is far superior to the original FitBark battery life. We have a WiFi Base Station in the house which syncs the dogs FitBarks every few minutes. Even with almost constant syncing the battery life lasts for a month and a half with a full charge (which only takes 90 minutes). The horses FitBarks battery only gets synced using Bluetooth once a day and their battery life lasts a little over 3 months! We love not having to worry about battery life! The new FitBark 2 attaches to the dog’s collar or horse’s fly mask with zip ties. We haven’t had any issues with losing the FitBark 2, and when it comes time to switch collars you simply cut the zip tie with scissors and attach with a new zip tie! We put the horses FitBarks in a soft material zippered pouch to keep the FitBark clean and from being scratched on trees and branches (picture attached). The only downside to the FitBark 2 is that the plastic part of this FitBark no longer comes in colors, they only offer black. They do offer colored silicone covers for the FitBarks, but I did enjoy the device itself being colored. The colored plastic helped me prevent mixing up which animal’s FitBark is which when it comes to charging. I highly recommend this activity monitor to every pet parent! I have my best friend and sister hooked also!

Doggy Weightloss
This device has been great. I knew our 9 year old aussie was inactive, but I didn't have a good reference point to how inactive she really was. She has been struggling with weight for years, and even with diet unable to lose. This device gives me an idea of how many calories she burns daily as well as ideas to make her more active. According to her weight... she should have been burnimng 1200 calories a day. Turns out she usually only burns 700-900. That's a big difference when you're on a weightloss diet from your vet. So far we are down 5 lbs.

Best purchase for your dog!
If I could give more than 5 stars, FitBark would get all of them! We have 3 FitBarks in our dog family and absolutely love them. It’s not only the best activity tracker out there, it has a place to keep a journal along with key medical information. We’re able to graph the dogs activity and compare it to sleep, show weight gain/loss over time, and so much more. The support within the app is beyond amazing. We’ve sent in questions at the most random times and we ALWAYS get a human response within a few minutes. If you ever need anything, the small but dedicated FitBark team is there for you when you need them.

I love these new fitbarks
I love these new fitbarks! Be warned- they are addictive :) But in all seriousness, I have high drive dogs, and on the days that they seem to be not listening, or always underfoot, I can look at the fitbark-and 9 times out of ten, our activity level for the day is WAAAAYYYYY below normal. A quick run or game of frisbee brings us back up to normal levels (interpret that is a tired and happy dog) and problem is solved!

Love Fitbark and haven’t had any issues at all!
I had FitBark 1 and enjoyed it. Bought Fitbark 2 over 4 months ago and love it even more. I just bought a second FitBark 2 for our new puppy. I don’t write reviews often but this is a product that has become a part of my daily life. There are many improvements over the first one. I’m not sure how long the battery is supposed to last but this has lasted over four months and still going strong! I have not experienced some of the complaints that others are mentioning. If you attach the cover security it doesn’t fall off. Just make sure all four corners click on. Our two dogs wrestle pretty rough and the cover has yet to come off. Also, the new zip tie attachment system is much cleaner and has yet to come loose or fall off. I hand wash the collar a couple times a month and just leave Fitbark attached. I’m not sure if I’m supposed to or not, but it hasn’t caused any problems. I have not had any problems syncing the device. We have a Fitbark base station in our home and I highly recommend it. They also have a wonderful Facebook user group that post pictures of dogs and all their adventures that’s an added bonus!
