Cats loved it once I turned it on its side and sprinkled with catnip!
This is a good, sturdy product. The instructions were clear and assembly only took about 12 minutes even for a dorkasaurus like me. Disappointingly, my two cats initially totally ignored it, even when I sprinkled catnip on the top platform and tried to play with them near the base. Then I had the idea to turn it on its side and the cats went wild for it (see photos). A couple days later, they still love it but only when I sprinkle catnip.

Passes Destruction Test
My cats are ... cats. They scratch stuff. The wrong stuff. That's just a cat thing. My boy loves to scratch the corners of carpet. I've concluded that he does this because he can see the damage for one, and two he can get to the under padding which has a different texture. This is a great alternative for him. He tries to tear up everything he gets to play with. So he goes through scratchers like humans go through paper towels. Not this one. I had purchased a different sisal scratcher but that was more of a rope. He did not use it. He did not like it. This is more carpet like and he really took to it nearly immediately. There are a couple of reasons that factor into it though. You have to know your kitty and know that they like stuff they can really stretch and scratch. You also have to know what kind of texture they like to scratch. He literally puts his whole body into scratching this. It's tall enough for him to do that vertically. I need to find a horizontal one that's long enough for him. So it truly depends on your cat. I recommend paying close attention to what your cat scratches and HOW they scratch. That will help you determine if this is going to work for you. For Oscar, it doesn't tip over and let's him reach up to it while he scratches if he wants. Sometimes he stays toward the bottom. Sometimes he feels like getting a good stretch in as well. But it doesn't wobble, hasn't completely shredded (and believe me he IS trying), and he (most importantly) uses it.

Review for Cat Post
I recently took in a foster cat after my 19 year old baby passed away. Swore I'd never get another cat but of course I ended up formally adopting my foster. My new baby was a stray who was passed around a few times before she ended up with me. She has some trust issues but I just give her space and love whenever she wants. Anyway, I bought her some of those flat cardboard scratchies that my old cat loved. She would sit on them but not scratch them. Then she started going after the carpet, and my couch! Yikes!! I noticed she likes to have a full body stretch to scratch. As in she stands on her back feet and reaches up high with her front paws to scratch. I knew immediately that a tall scratchie was what she needed. Read a lot of reviews. I chose this one due to the great reviews, solid build, and height. When it arrived, I pulled all the pieces out of the box. As I was assembling the base, she jumped on the unattached middle section and went to town! Even though it was rolling around on the floor! Lol. I put it together and placed it near where she would get the couch. She has not touched any furniture or the carpet since I got this thing! I'm impressed! She loves it! She can't even walk by it without having a scratch. It's really cute! Per other reviews, I purchased a sissal mat to place on the base. This was completely unnecessary. She likes to lay on her side with her feet on the post, and slide around and around on the base. She usually does this while batting at her toy mouse. She wouldn't be able to slide with the sissal mat on there. I sort of wish I'd gotten one with a larger top, something she could sleep on. The top of this is relatively small, only good to sit on. The top is screwed on so I could make something to replace it if I really felt like it. Anyway, very sturdy, my cat loves it, and no more cat nails in my furniture! A little pricey but this thing will last!!

Excellent quality, great size, cats love!
Both of my 1 1/2 year old cats LOVE this. We had a shorter scratch post (that was still considered tall) with wound sisal rope that they destroyed and both cats are vertical scratchers so we decided to replace it with this taller one. The woven sisal on this has held up really well (we’ve had it for about 5 weeks) and both cats took to it very quickly. I was worried about the texture being different for them, but it didn’t seem to matter. It’s tall enough for both kitties to get a good stretch and even climb it like a tree! They pretty much ignore the hanging toy, but one loves getting on top and taunting the other one below. It’s much taller and thicker than traditional scratch posts, but it’s very well made with a sturdy base and solid construction. I like that the top platform is big enough for my cat to sit on and has a comfortable hard rubber surface with a removable cover. I will probably have to wash it every now and then because it is well used so the removable cover is important! Only one of my cats jumps on top, and it took a few weeks and some coaxing before he realized he could do it. Now he sits up there all the time like the King of Sheba. We couldn’t be happier with this product. I will update in a year to share how well it’s held up, but I think it will last quite awhile.

Good Product, Keeps cat from ruining furniture as much
This has finally gotten our cat to mostly stop scratching our furniture and we followed some people's suggestion to put it near where he wakes up so he see it before the furniture (although if the post doesn't happen to be nearby and the need strikes, he will still do it -___-) and he actually has a good time with the ball attached to it. I assumed that would be a useless gimmick to throw an extra feature on the marketing materials, but our cat will sit on top of it and bat it around and grab it. One potential issue is the base isn't big/heavy enough to support a cat jumping onto it, so you'll want to place it near something else so the cat can walk over onto the top part. Overall, a good product that is holding up well.

Cat tested, mother approved!
My cat loves this. We got a kitten in Nov 2017 who was full of crazy energy (as most kittens are I suppose). We had a cat before, much older who never had this much energy. This little cat began to destroy everything so we purchased this cat scratcher! Set up was a breeze and it’s so nice looking and matches with all our furniture. Our kitty somehow knew it was for him and immediately began to use it instead of my couches. Now, he spends hours with it, daily, and never touches my couches. The scratching post also looks as good as new- it’s very durable. I absolutely love this!

Sturdy, Sizeable Cat Scratching Post
This 32" Scratching Post is extremely sturdy and perfect height for my tall/long cat who loves to stretch full length when he scratches. He is a strong, aggressive scratcher so I do keep one corner wedged under my couch. The post would not need to be wedged for my other cat who is more into short, quick, easy scratching sessions. This post has a sisal mat/carpet covering, not rope. Keep in mind that cats have definite preferences for what they will use as a scratcher. My boy cat does fine with just this post as he likes vertical carpeted posts. My girl cat requires a variety of textures (carpet, rope, and cardboard) in both vertical and horizontal planes. If I don't keep all those options available, she returns to use my couch as her scratcher. I can't find fault in a well-made, nice looking post that doesn't meet her own unique scratching needs. Speaking of appearance, in my opinion, this post is significantly more attractive than the popular Pioneer Pet SmartCat The Ultimate Scratching Post. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this post, feel it will last a long time, and is a good value for the price paid.

Kittens love it more with a modification
My kittens love to climb it, but I wish the slick, hard base had a cover of some kind. Update: I added a 20" x 20" sisal mat to cover the hard base. Cats are happier and so am I. Awesome scratch post!
This is awesome. The pic doesn't do it justice. The tower is quite tall and sturdy. My cat has being going crazy jumping on it and trying to get the ball and has yet to even make it wobble on the tile. The colors are exactly what I was looking for and the top is large enough for him to rest on. This was well worth the money.

This is great for my big
This is great for my big, strong Maine Coon. I wedged it under one leg of the sofa so he can pull on the post without it tipping it over. I don't know how it's going to hold up, but he really loves it. I'll probably buy another one when he tears this one up. I haven't figured out why it has a top on it, although it's a great place to set a glass or cup. It's too small for Spike if it's meant to be a perch.
