I love this phone. not only am I not in debt to buy a phone but this thing is nifty. It has a lot of really cool features. the only things I would change would be the battery is not removable. This makes me nervous. Its like buying a car that you cannot change the tires on. Overall very good quality. It is slippery so you need a case and a screen protector.

I had a 1st Gen moto x that was a hand me down from my wife that was just getting too old. I use this on republic wireless with no issue. I could not transfer the old motor gen 1 sim though I had to order a new one. Phone is handsome and is a good balance of size and form fitting to my hands. Not as high tech as the phones that most people think they need to live there digital life but works fine for me. I put a 128 micro SD card in it to help with the memory of pictures and video. The operating system takes up like 12- 13 gb so that 32gb is more like 12 after apps and the OS. Takes great pics.

I have a S8+. got tired of using a tall phone. wanted a phone that's not wider than that. Both S8+ and Moto X4 has the same width. But it is much easier to use the Moto one handed. the performance of the phone is actually faster in day to day use than my S8+ with snapdragon 835. maybe when I am editing a video, it takes tiny bit more to export the video. Screen brightness is good. Samsung is higher but you won't notice it inside as I use in half brightness. The speaker is also the earpiece are the same. The quality is really good and loud. the only complain I have is while it is very loud for some video it is not for others. I wish there was a feature to amplifier of sorts to bring low sounds up to the level of this speaker. I had a Galaxy note 5 and been using the S8+ for almost 9 months. I can honestly tell you that I don't miss a thing. The camera performance is good. It perhaps wasn't as good the S8+ but I downloaded the Google Cam app and the camera is better than the Sammy now. it is amazing what a software can do to a capable hardware. Don't waste any money on expensive phones. I did and got my lesson. the whole commerce business is selling people more and more every year a new phone when a $250 phone actually does the same as $700 one. It is a little slippery so I put a Spigen case on it. but only use it when going out. Don't hesitate to buy.

I feel like 5 stars is underused, that one bad thing about a phone kills it's great score. Me, I give it 5 stars. Things I like about the phone: - Preforms great - Android 8.0, USB-C Fast Charging - The OS is stock android (Took me a bit to get used to new 8.0, my old phone was android 6) - Fingerprint Scanner, something I didn't think I'd get with a $300 phone - Amazon removed the ads, so the only thing it has is Amazon's bloatware, which I don't mind. Things I don't like about the phone: - I've noticed the battery does drain fast. Maybe that's just me, but when I get home from a long day it went from 80-50. Fast charging makes it a breeze to recharge, so I don't mind. It also could just be all the things running in the background like anti-virus. - Storage. One thing I wish people told me before getting the phone was the expandable storage will not be used as internal storage. Meaning, no apps, nothing. It only holds pictures, videos etc. You only have 32 GB minus the 12 Android takes, leaving 20GB for apps and games. Not a deal breaker, old device was 8GB with android taking 4 which was no fun at all. - The performance to me isn't like the other reviews where "I never noticed I was using a mid range phone" Maybe my expectations are higher for more expensive phones, but I have seen my device hang on things, and day three it crashed. I still really like this phone. I want to stick with Motorola for my next device, and I really like the phones they make. The X series is definitely their flagships without the moto mods and they are excellent at making high performance mid-range devices. I did have to compromise a bit on the things I wanted, but that was just me realizing I was buying mid range, there will be some things you won't get. Buy a screen protector and a case you all, this one's a keeper.

My Moto X Pure battery was dying, so I had the choice of replacing the battery (for me, that required a pro) for about $100 or buy the new X4 from Amazon for $279. I chose the latter and am glad I did. The phone does all the things that you would expect in a new phone running Android 8.0, has an amazing camera, and, most importantly, with fairly heavy use has amazing battery life. After overnight charge, I go to bed with at least 75% remaining on the charge...I have no doubt that it would go well into a second day. By the way, I appreciate having the Amazon Apps -- I'm a devoted Prime Customer and read my Kindle app books and listen to the Amazon Music App daily. The other Amazon apps are tucked quietly out of site and don't bother me. There are no opening ads or other intrusions into your life, and saving more than $100 by buying the Prime edition is a good deal.

I moved to this phone from an iPhone 6S, and am not at all disappointed. The Moto X4 does everything I need from a phone and has a slightly bigger and sharper screen. The camera is quite adequate - I never intended to use it for artwork but, in any event, I don't notice the quality of the photos being any worse than the iPhone's. I don't know why there's so much whining about being unable to remove the Amazon ads: there's only a widget on one screen page. It's not at all a bother. There are some annoyances inherent in figuring out Android, but apart from those glitches, all my usual apps are working as expected.

I've been an Apple fanboy for long enough. After having replaced 4 iPhones in just over a year I decided that I'm done spending over $500 on a phone that is too easy to break. Decided to give the Moto X4 a shot and I couldn't be happier! IT does everything my iPhone 8 did but better. It's EXTREMELY responsive, especially with things such as fingerprint opening. It recognizes my print and jumps to the desktop faster than my iPhone would realize I was even touching it. The camera is amazing for any phone under $200. In fact, can't get over the quality-to-price ratio for the quality of pictures the dual-camera on this phone delivers. I prefer it over the iPhone 8 any day for both speed, focusing, customization of the camera (you can change literally every professional setting of this camera, including ISO, shutter speed, etc). The HDR pictures are great and a nifty feature is the Bokeh effect that can be attained which, if it were Apple, would require the iPhone 8 plus. The fingerprint gestures that Moto provides make me feel right at home since it can be configured to work much like the iPhone 8 sensor, except this one is far more responsive. Overall the speed of this phone is impressive. Every app opens quickly, is extremely responsive. Haven't experienced lag in anything, including website browsing some sites that would bring my iphone to it's knees. The fast charging is probably one of my favorite features. I'm really bad at pluggin in my phone until it's telling me that it's dead.. Well this thing charges in no time flat and then lasts the entire day with juice left at the end, no matter how hard I use it. Android has come a long, long way since the last Android phone I have owned. Everything is so tighly integrated with this latest Android, even more so than iOS, which is really hard to believe. An example is the Facebook integration. Every app that can login through FB on Android is extremely quick, easy and just works, whereas half the apps on my iPhone that can login through FB would take me to a login screen browser to login to the FB that I was already logged into the app with. I haven't experienced any of these setbacks on the Moto X. It just... works. The screen is one of the brightest I have seen on any phone. In fact, I have my brightness at 25% and it's plenty bright. 100% surpasses the brigtness of my iPhone considerably. The resolution is extremely crisp, everything looks great, clean and smooth. One of my favorite features and one that I coudln't wait to try was the muti-bluetooth speaker setup. This is one cool feature! You can link multiple bluetooth speakers to this phone and have them play simultaneously. This turns your common cheap bluetooth speakers into a multi-speaker surround sound type setup. Fascinating! The internal speaker is plenty loud and sound quality is quite good. The iPhone 8 may have it beat here, but only by an insignificant amount. The 8 isn't quite as loud but the sound quality of the 8 is a bit better considering it plays in stereo and not mono. The only thing I haven't figured out how to do yet is when notifications come in, it pauses the music playing. This annoys me to no end. I don't mind the notification sound but please don't stop the music completely. If anybody knows a way to change this setting please let me know, for I've exhausted myself trying to figure it out. I don't attribute this to the phone but to Android, no stars deducted for this. Overall if you're looking for a budget phone that does pretty much everything good and some things extremely well, then this is the one! I don't see myself going back to an iPhone anytime in the distance future. Sorry, Apple. You're overpriced and I'm actually kinda upset that you blinded me from the Android world for so long while it secretly surpassed everything you can do.

I really love this phone, Previous phone was a Nexus 5 x. This one is so much better. its faster, the battery lasts a very long time. The screen size is about the same size as my old Nexus 5x (maybe slightly bigger but better resolution than the 5x). Motorola's/ Lenovos UI enhancements are good. not over bearing like some other manufactures. Minor annoyance: I could not transfer all of my settings from my Nexus 5 X like apps. The reason is that google keeps Nexus phones up to date better than any other manufacture and because the nexus was on a never version of Andriod than the Moto X4 I could not use my cloud backup to restore my apps. My contacts did transfer over without issue but I did lose my old texts and call history. Everyday I am thankful that I made this purchase. Well worth the money and much better than my previous Nexus 5x with regards to speed, responsiveness and battery life.

I love this phone. It's solid and build quality is excellent. I'm coming from an iPhone. I've had iPhones from the 3, 4, 5, 5s, and 6s and not going back. Android Oreo comes on this phone. The OS is gorgeous. I love it and for the price? Unbelievable. The phone is slick. Very slippery but I love that. I put a case on it so it doesn't slip. This phone is fast. Very fast. SD card slot. NFC. The size is about the same as the G5. It's perfect in my opinion. Not as huge as the iPhone plus or the Nexus 6p. Those phones are way to big for me. You can one hand this phone. Camera takes great pictures and video. 4k recording too. Wide lense is great. It charges very fast too. Apparently this phone is completely submergeable but I'm afraid to try it. There really isn't anything I don't like about this phone. I think it's perfect. Oh and let me tell you about the fingerprint sensor. It's amazingly fast and accurate. I've never experienced anything like it. The G5 wasn't as fast and accurate. This x4 unlocks the phone instantly every time. I'm amazed. For a budget phone you cannot go wrong with this one...also Moto's default skin is great. I love it. It's almost stock Android with minor tweaks like the home clock. Oh and the voice to text is superb. Blows Siri to smithereens. I could talk about how much I love this phone all day. Get it you'll love it.

I have Moto E4 and I love using it. It has been my daily driver. Then I saw Moto X4 was offered at $119.99 I jumped on it - despite many 1 star reviews. Thinking, I can always return it within 30 days if I do not like it or it is bad. Well, so far so good. For the money, you cannot beat: 32GB internal storage, 3GB RAM, Snapdragon 630 processor, and LTPS IPS LCD screen resolution (1080 x1920), IP68 water/dust proof, and dual camera on the back. In comparison, unlocked Moto E4 (a great budget phone) costs $129.99 (current Amazon price). E4 comes with 16GB, 2GB RAM, Snapdragon 425, IPS LCD screen resolution (1280 x 720), and no water proof. Moto X4 is a much better phone but less. Because of my small hand, I prefer either 5" or 5.2" phones. And X4 meets that sweet spot. Since there are many reviews here already (both pros and cons), I just want to give you some helpful hints in order to optimize X4 so that you will not have some of the issues mentioned in poor reviews. 1. Once you power up your X4, BEFORE you download your Apps, UPDATE all your security patches (it will download several times and you need to reboot the phone each time when you do so. After a couple of hours (or more) of downloading security patches, you will be prompted to update the OS to Pie (Android 9.0). Download and update the OS to Pie. Now you have latest Android OS and your X4 is able to handle that easily. This whole process of updating the phone will take a half day. SO BE PATIENT. 2. Once you have upgraded to 9.0, then FACTORY RESET the phone. This will ensure you have no glitches from previous OS (Oreo) and will remove updated files so you will save a couple of GB to your storage. 3. After the Factory Reset, you can download all your apps and after all your apps are download and updated, then you can DISABLE preinstalled Amazon apps that you do not use. Now you have clean Android OS experience. 4. Get a decent case. There are many out there. But consider Spigen as well. In my experience with E4, Spigen case saved E4 several times when I dropped the phone in parking lot, concrete walkaway, and hardwood floors. Overall I am very happy with X4. It runs smoothly and much faster than E4, and the battery lasts longer than I expected (today, screen time was 4 and 1/2 hours, yet I still have 41% of the battery left). So if you are looking for a mid-range phone but on a budget phone cost, then X4 is the best bet! Recommended!
