Unconventional Use!

I used this as the power supply for a "Snapper" capacitive discharge circuit that operates switches for my N-gauge model train layout. I've been using it for almost a year with no issues, and its higher voltage was just what was needed to throw multiple switches simultaneously. Other users who said this unit died promptly after hooking it up were likely using it for a system that had higher current requirements than the 300ma that this unit is rated. There is an Orbitz model, rated at 700ma that would have probably been better. Verify the current requirements of your system before ordering a transformer to meet those requirements. The irrigation system I've got requires a 500ma supply (specified in the manual), which would doubtless have been too much for this unit.
