5 year old niece LOVED IT !!

I bought the FAO Schwartz 75 piece wooden castle set for my 5 year old niece. Wasn't sure how it would go over, but she LOVED it! She opened it right away and dove right in. After building and knocking down several different castles, she made sure that no one took apart the final one - she wanted it to be waiting for her when she woke up the next day. The set is well constructed, and has plenty of pieces to really let you use your imagination. It seems like a toy she that will interest her, and will last, for years to come.

Brings out the creativity in kids really fast!

This set features pre-cut components, so kids don't need directions to build a castle right away. So many of the building sets out there are just geometric pieces and I've noticed that my youngest grand-child (age 3) struggled to use them. She just didn't have enough "context" to create something from scratch. Show her a picture and she has something to guide her. The pieces in this set have enough detail that she was able to build something satisfying right out of the box. And of course her older siblings immediately jumped in to "join" the fun. So I'm thinking of getting another set just to keep the peace. Highly recommended, stimulates creative play.

WHAT A WAY TO LEARN AND PLAY!

I relunctently purchased these castle blocks no knowing if my students would appreciate them as much as other blocks. Well, I could not have made a better choice. My students seem to enjoy building castles with these blocks. They are quite anxious for playtime. I plan to add to my collection; they are quite durable and just the right size for my 3rd graders. Great choice!

Quality wood with unique shapes

My kids love this set! Especially my 6 year old son. It's already given him hours of entertainment. Much better than just a generic playmobil castle because he gets to create it and can make it different each time

Highly recommend company and product

My daughter loves building and castles. She was enthralled with tgis the moment it arrived. We haven't decided if we will dye the pieces, but it's up to her. The blocks are great size and good quality.

Ideally shaped for castle creation

Ideally shaped for castle creation. The blocks are nice wooden blocks, have smooth surfaces, and include arches, turrets, cylinders for castle building. Approval rating is also high from our six-year-old primary builder.

Pretty little blocks

They're smooth and light weight. The wood burns arent all uniform. Some are lighter than other blocks. I think these will do better with conditioning or a protectant from stains. But its nice to have the option and not just coated in varnish. My only complaint is it would've been nice to have a drawstring sack to store them in. Im getting one for them. The kids really love these. They use the instruction booklet that looks like a Lego booklet to build the castle exactly like the box. Then they've made their own versions and had a robot knock it down. Over all its a good toy and makes beautiful castles. I would say these are blocks made for kids who are ready to have patience and attention to detail. If they can build with regular Lego blocks they can do these fine. These blocks are smaller than standard blocks but much bigger than a Lego. They fit in the palm of an adult hand.

Gorgeous Castle!

I purchased this product as decoration for my son's King themed first birthday party, and it greatly exceeded my expectations. The wood pieces are pretty and solid, and it was easy to assemble. We ended up gluing it to create a memento my son could keep forever and the quality of the pieces and how they fit together was perfection. I would highly recommend this product, especially for older children to assemble and reassemble.

Wonderful set of medieval castle blocks

This is a fantastic toy for children of any age. Although targeted to younger children I think older kids and even adults would enjoy this set. The illustrated model is pretty involved. A little child would need an adult to build it but the point of the toy is to stimulate creative building and 3D spatial planning and there are nearly unlimited structures of any complexity that can be made with it. The price was amazing; a terrific value. The one thing that would make this set perfect is if it came with some type of bag or other permanent container to hold all the blocks so they are less apt to become lost.

Very Creative Set

This is a really unique set of blocks. You can be really creative since some castles can use a cool counterbalance method to achieve more of a floating look. Some of the blocks are narrow and need to be balanced. These blocks somewhat take a more subtle approach than normal blocks. I wish there was a slope block so you could have some kind of ramp between one level and another. All around great set! I'd also like to see a slightly more expensive set with sealed blocks, or stained with a bit of gloss.
