Excellent customer service experience and a few things I learned from it!
I'm new to the ketogenic diet and bought this one because it was recommended by so many keto experts, like Dominic D'Agostino and the Diet Doctor. I've only had it a little while, but so far it's working great! This review is long but if you are purchasing this you definitely should read it because I wanted to let others know of some issues that I had with testing at first. Some were my own fault and a couple were mistakes in the manual that I found. I had a couple error codes when I started testing, one that showed my strip expired and one that said it was a used strip even though it wasn't. Oh, and one that I couldn't figure out at first, it said E-F. Turns out, that means that I didn't get enough blood to suck up into the strip. I got them all figured out now. The expired thing was because I accidentally set the year wrong when I first set up the meter. So I went back and reset that to the right year and fixed that. And the used strip one was because I wasn't waiting until the meter was ready to start the test. You have to see the blinking blood drop on the meter first. I went to their site and got most of this figured out by watching the videos there. (probably should have done that first) And for one problem I contacted their customer support people who were super helpful and friendly. (at least the one I chatted with) I found a mistake in their manual too. It says that the strips need to be used in 30 days, but the side of the container says they are good for 6 months after you open them. I contacted their customer support and they let me know the 6 mo is correct and if you don't open it, it's 18 months from when they make them. One last important thing, I threw away the thing they call the code chip by accident. It came with my ketone strips but I didn't see it there in the box with the instructions. The good news is I figured it out right away and grabbed it back out. You need that to use once with your new box of ketone strips, it makes them more accurate.

accurate and repeatable - easy to use.
I cross checked the glucose readings with an Accu-chek Active meter I purchased in Brazil and very close on the glucose readings. Repeatability checks are also pretty good for blood glucose. I don't have another Ketone monitoring kit to compare, but the repeatability tests are very good. Also, my Ketone levels go up as I do an intermittent fast and seem to compare well with data from other people. Reasonably easy to us. They have a good set of videos on the ketomojo website.

Used many meters: Great meter, Great price.
Keto-Mojo makes an excellent multi-function meter. I have been an RN for over 20 years and used many different glucose meters. Getting laboratory-quality results in a home-setting requires good technique, whether it is a glucose, ketone, or hemoglobin level for which you are testing. Hand-washing, alcohol-wipes, and discarding the first drop or two is solid advice. Additionally, having enough blood in the drop, before you touch it with the fresh test-strip, ensures you don't half-fill the capillary-tube on the strip. Compared to the meters of 25 years ago, this one is super easy! This is the meter for my Keto diet and I value quality tools. Additionally, reposting tips from KM customer service: Tips to help with accuracy. 1. You need to wash your hands thoroughly before each test. Alcohol wipes as well. There are many things on your hands that can contaminate a test for example: dust, skin creams and especially if you are using MCT oil or exogenous ketones, those will throw a test way off. 2. Once the alcohol is dry, wipe away the first drop of blood (not with the alcohol, but a fresh tissue or sterile swab) and test with the second. The first drop will likely be diluted with the alcohol even if it's dry. 3. If you are doing multiple tests on one drop, we've found that once the blood starts to coagulate, the readings can shift. Also, it isn't unusual for the tests to vary a little. Also, keep in mind that when meters are tested for accuracy they are tested 100 times. The accepted tolerance is determined from 100 tests, not 2, 3 or even 10. Tips for when to test for consistency. 1. Test before you break your fast to get a good baseline of what is in your blood. 2. Test at a similar time each day if you can to keep the results more consistent. 3. If you test after eating specific foods, test at a similar time interval. For example: 40, 80 or 120 minutes after the meal. 4. Keep in mind that rarely will something you ate today affect your ketone readings the same day. Usually it takes a day or so for that to register. It's different for glucose readings, those will spike within 30-90 minutes usually. The exception to the ketone readings would be exogenous ketones, those can affect ketone readings within 30-90 minutes. 5. Remember that exercise also can affect your measurable ketone levels. 6. Keep in mind, with ketones, bigger numbers are not always better. A reading of 4 or 5 isn't better than a reading of 1 or 2. A high reading could mean that your body is very good at producing ketones, but possibly your body isn't great at using them yet. Usually once you are fat adapted, you will rarely see those high numbers but you are doing great! Everyone is different, if you are in the zone, you are doing well. Michelle ket

Great Product, Tips for Testing, Watch the Videos, Contact the company for help!!
I love this product. I ordered my keto mojo almost 2 months ago and did not write a review because it worked. I am doing so now because I believe in this company and their success = my ability to keep testing. I had a friend tell me there were bad reviews so I thought I should write a good one It makes me wonder how many of the bad reviews actually contacted this company first for help. If you are thinking of buying this product be proactive. Most people are new to blood tests. So learn from the Keto Mojo experts: Tips to help: WATCH THE VIDEOS, Contact their Customer Support ( not Amazon they can't help with this product) Set your Date the Year on your meter is very important. Code your meter, Pay close attention to the order you test. Never Put a strip in the meter with blood already on the strip. Use a big drop of blood. Take your time, being frustrated and stressed can make it harder to get a blood sample. Prep your hand before testing. ( watch the video for how to get blood) The meter will time out on you if you do not get a blood sample in a couple of minutes. You can take the strip out and put it back in if there is No blood on it. Wait for the blood drop to show on your screen before adding blood. Thank you Keto Mojo for this Product and Making it affordable to many of us that wanted to test but didn't want to spend $2 or more dollars per strip.

Best meter I’ve come across!
As a not unhappy user of Bayer’s Precision Xtra for the last couple of years to measure mainly my blood ketones, I’ve dropped Bayer for Mojo in a heartbeat and am not looking back! I have purchased both in a kit, but I’m loving the Mojo kit over the Precison, as the lancing device surpasses the one that came with the Bayer in quality, handling and actually less of a prick in use! The Mojo also comes with a starter set of glucose strips in addition to the keto strips, which the Precision did not! The Mojo strips are packaged in sturdy tubes, vs the strips to be used in the Bayer device, which are individually wrapped in foil in strips of five - more delicate to store and harder to get out. All those are just personal preferences, however. What you can’t argue with, is the difference in the initial investment and cost of test strips between the two (at least at time of my purchase of each - prices may have changed since). The Precison starter set cost $97 before tax, the lowest price I could find for the test strips was $1.50 when bought in bulk, close to $2.00 for just a pack of ten. The Mojo starter pack only ran $60 and a tube of 50 of their ketone sticks comes out to $1. A $0.50 difference per strip! So for times where I measure three times daily, that’s a whole $1.50 saved. Last, but not least: the Mojo has been considerably more accurate in its readings than the Bayer Precison, when compared to results of clinical blood tests - which is, of course, probably the main reason to favor one over the other. I hope this helps! :)

Awesome meter!!
I've had my meter for the last 12 hours and am impressed thus far. I will come back and update along the way. I did want to mention that my meter DID come with 10 glucose strips and 10 ketone strips. Many of the "I screwed up a few strips before I got it right" reviews are the typical break-in period. I've used BG meters for 20 years now and still screwed up a keto test strip. My best advice is to be sure you have a surplus of blood. Aim for a blood spot the size of a grain of rice and you'll have enough for both BG and keto testing (back-to-back). Also be aware that these strips work with capillary action which means the strip needs to be flat or at a slight cant, but shouldn't be stood upright or your blood will have to fight gravity to make it up the strip and into the meter. For those like me who tend to have cold hands or lower BP, try pricking your finger first, encircling the base of that finger with your non-dominant hand and then bending the finger as hard as you can while still squeezing the base of the finger. This will cause blood to quickly pool at the prick site. This will cut down on tenderness and bruising from mashing around on your finger to stimulate a drop to form. Also, be sure to press the lancet tool firmly against your skin before firing it. If this is not done, you will have a shallow prick and practically no blood. I turned myself into a human pin cushion before I figured out what worked on my digits. Also, though not recommended medically, the lancets can be used more than once. The sharpness of the lancet may wane but you'll also save a few pennies from ordering more every few weeks.

The most important step...
Lesson learned..The first thing I checked was the battery levels in the provided batteries. It was fully charged. I calibrated the unit with the included calibration stick. I massaged my index finger to get the blood flowing. I placed a ketone stick into the machine. I used an alcohol wipe on my finger and with the provided lancet, I pricked my finger. I wiped off the first blood drop then squeezed my finger until I was able to place a huge blood drop on the stick while the "blood drop icon" was flashing. NOTHING HAPPENED! I did this with all four fingers and same results. So I messaged KetoMojo and spoke to Veronica, who was VERY helpful. I was doing it wrong , lol! After you have a blood drop on your finger, hold the unit in your opposite hand, and place your blood drop on the END of the stick and let the blood slowly "flow" into the channel (the vertical line that's visible on the end of the stick). Voila! Got a reading after a few seconds. I posted two pics = the "wrong" way and the "right" way. If you did it correctly, you shouldn't see any blood spillover on the stick, in fact it should almost be "dry" except for the thin amount of blood film on the channel end of the stick

I've been on the Ketogenic Diet for a couple of months and I wanted to check for ketone in my blood because I wanted to know if I was on the right track. So I chose the Keto-Mojo because the Amazon and You Tube reviews were pretty good and it tests both Glucose and Ketones (using separate strips). The strips are reasonable and it comes as a kit with everything you need to get started (minus the Glucose strips which can be ordered separately.) The kit includes meter, lancer pen with 10 lances,10 Ketone strips,1 code strip and pouch to store everything inside (Glucose strips not include). All for a reasonable prices. I watched a few You Tube videos before I purchased the meter, so setting it up and using it was easy. I tested my blood with this meter and found that I wasn't in the range of full ketosis (1.0 - 3.0 mmol/L), so I adjusted my diet. I went from .6 -.9 mmol/L to 1.5-1.7 mmol/L. I was also able to monitor my glucose levels and bring them down too. Using this meter took the guess work away and helped me monitor and adjust my progress. I am happy with the Keto-Mojo and feel this is a good tool to have and use on this type of health program.

Easy to use for the keto lifestyle!
I’ve been doing keto for about three months. I was tracking my macros but wanted to understand whether I was really doing it well. I started with the urine strips for the first few weeks, but wanted to get a more accurate picture of where I was. I took the plunge and got this because it seemed an affordable option. I did mess up the first few testing strips because it took me a bit to get the process down (hint: before testing, don’t remove or jostle the strip after you’ve inserted it into the device). The lancet works great for me now that I’ve gotten the hang of it. I check my ketones weekly and it’s a breeze. Got a great deal on test strips directly from the company. Couldn’t be happier with this little device!
