Don't Believe the Bad Reviews

This camera works great! I drive a lot, but decided to wait a few weeks just to see if there were any truth to the bad reviews. Now that a few weeks have gone by with (basically) no issues, I'm here to let everyone know the bad reviewers are a bunch of techno-illiterate babies. One of the main complaints I see is that the instruction guide that comes with the camera tells the user nothing. That is kind of true, yes. The guidebook essentially just tells you the basic function of each button and not much else. I thought that was kind of frustrating, but I began to play around with the camera, and soon found out it was the easiest thing in the world to navigate if you can focus for literally 2 minutes. I was able to configure the camera to my desired specifications almost immediately. I see a few people complaining about how the screen turns black after a few minutes of non-use. This is EASILY turned off in the settings. I swear, people don't even try. A lot of people also complain that the camera "dangles like a Christmas ornament". First of all, funny comparison but also a huge exaggeration. Granted, the latch that fixes the stand to the camera is not very dependable and is prone to falling off if you drive on a bumpy road. This can be annoying and dangerous (it swung and hit my copilot in the face, which was actually kinda funny, so i'm not too mad). However, this is another issue that can be easily fixed. I tied some black tape around the camera and the stand, and have not had a single issue since. It's that easy, everyone. TAPE. The camera quality is FANTASTIC, especially when uploaded to your computer, you can see everything: license plates, car types, even birds in the sky. I see some people complaining that you can't pick up license plates with this camera. Utterly and completely untrue. Maybe you can't see them if you're watching the playback from the tiny screen on the camera, but that issue is obliterated if you just simply upload the video to your computer. Again, people don't even try. Some of you people act like a product is entirely defective if there's one or two issues, even if they're easily fixable. This camera works great and does exactly what I want it to. Something like this is absolutely phenomenal for the price, and I would argue that everyone should get one of these.

Very Nice System

The delivery of the unit was timely and the unit was well packaged to prevent shipping damage. The camera is a nice unit with excellent recording capabilities and a 32 GB recording disk gives a lot of record time in the 3 minute cycle mode. It is small and can mount up high next to the rear view mirror. Mounting next to the rear view mirror this should meet any states law standard for not interfering with your view of the road. Installation was easy and programming was fairly simple. The installation manual has its faults, but I understand that a new manual is being put together to correct problems caused by the lack of information in the manual. I found that mounting the unit was fairly simple and the operation is easy. I also found that if I wanted to lock in a segment so it could not be erased by accident, I could tap the camera and make it think there had been an impact on my vehicle. This trick will save any recordings of an incident, such as a road rage incident, that did not involve an actual impact to your vehicle. You should be able to swivel the camera to catch any action next to your car if you need to. The pictures I got while on vacation and driving down the road were excellent. I highly recommend this unit, the fact that the price is right just makes it that much better. As a side note I worked with and installed CCTV for 40 years before I retired, so when I state the the recorded picture, when played back, is excellent I may know what I am talking about.

It definitely works well for a dash cam. I only have a few complaints, and many of those are due to the secondary features of the device. First off, the picture isnt as clear as i would like at night. the camera uses a very wide aperture opening to allow lots of light into it, but its still a bit dark. Second, I use the motion sensing feature a lot. the biggest problem i've found is that there is a second or so delay between when the cam detects motion to when the video actually starts recording. this can make a lot of difference if you're actually wanting to use it for security when you're car is parked. Thirdly, about a quarter of the time when i go to change it between normal recording and motion detection, the buttons wont work and i cant access the menu. it takes a few minutes to fiddle with it and get it to work again. for those who have asked if it can work outside of the car, the answer is yes. since it uses standard USB, you can plug the included USB cable into a phone charger and it works. just make sure the charger you're plugging it into has the same output mah as the included car charger and you're good to go. all in all, if you're just looking for a basic dash cam, this works just fine. if you're counting on the other features, you might want to look elsewhere. Effective dash cam

This is a pretty effective dash cam, I agree with the other positive reviews, the negative reviewers must have absolutely ZERO technical savvy or ability. This dash cam is very simple to understand and use, even without looking at a manual. Plug it in, insert sd card, and it’s good to go. The battery lasts 15 minutes without power, but it’s meant to be plugged in at all times. It shuts off when the car does, but if you have a cigarette lighter that stays powered when your car shuts off, it will stay on at all times. It has shock detect and motion detect, and will wake up and record upon either of those events. Very nice wide angle view, great for daytime driving. Night driving is surprisingly good, it really records a lot of detail (a little grainy, but honestly the camera picked up more detail at night than my eyes do!). The only downside at night is the high contrast from headlights and streetlights can be pretty blinding on camera at times, but it would be tough to find a camera that handles that well. All in all, this is a very effective camera, especially for the price! The camera itself is a little cheap feeling and plastic, but it should do just fine unless you chuck it across a parking lot. Might not survive a crash, but the SD card will.

Worth the Price

The setup is intuitive and the picture quality is better than most cameras in the same price range. The suction cup mount works well, just be sure to clean the application area, and the adhesive mount is a nice second option. The dashcam comes with a very long, maybe six foot, cable which can easily be hidden and tucked out of the way. It also comes with a shorter usb cable for plugging into a PC. The packaging is compact and protects the contents very nicely. TL;DR This is a great little camera for a reasonable price.

Comes with internal battery and can wake itself up from standby

I bought this camera because recently, someone made a dent in my car while it was parked. This camera has an internal battery and a shock sensor, so it can wake itself up from standby, so these two features would come in handy in the future. I compared this product to a few other bulkier ones and this one had a reasonable price, on the more affordable side, had 1080p recording (which is a must for me), and seems to have decent picture quality. Check out the included video to see what the actual recording looks like. It's not iPhone quality, but i think for the price that I paid for this, it's exceeded my expectations. Overall pleasantly surprised at how functional this product is.
