Made a custom fit, and love it!
For everyone asking if it will fit in a certain make or model of car, I can tell you that for the price, take the chance and purchase this, then use the trick I figured out to make a custom fit. The cup holders in my 2001 Honda CRV are plentiful, but useless. They are all too shallow, making every cup, container and bottle I put in them, a projectile during right turns. Since life with only left turns, where the bottles are protected by my arm rest and therefor don't fly out, would be very inconvenient, I purchased this cup holder. At first I was very disappointed because the base of the cup holder was far too small to fit into my car's cup holder, and would have been a projectile itself. But then I had a McGuiver epiphany on how to solve the problem, rather than continuing to go through numerous brands/styles of other cup holders and wasting a lot of time and money. For those willing to jnvest an additional $1.89 plus tax and about five minutes of their time, this cup holder can be custom fit for just about any car. I purchased a small bag of "Super Duty" rubber bands, and continued to layer them on the base until it fit properly. It now fits perfectly, with no wiggling or slipping. The fit now is perfect. I was also really pleased rhat no one can even tell that I completed an unorthodox fix, as all the rubber bands are hidden by the car's cup holder, and none of them show at all. Think about it, since the size of cup holders in cars do not have a standardized size, it would be nearly impossible to manufacture an after-market cup holder that fit every car. Try my rubber band trick, and you migt be very pleased with your purchase. If the problem is that the base of the Smart Kup 808 Innovate cup holder is too big to fit, I got nothin'.

An insert that really works!
I recently traded in an older vehicle for a newer one. Older cars and pickups in the US had built-in cup holders that hold cups of almost any size. Newer vehicles have tiny little cup holders into which 12-oz. drink cans, 12-oz. styrofoam cups, and tapered fast food and convenience store cups will fit, but not much else. My newer vehicle is a 2015 Suburban, and it shares cup holder size with many other recent GM cars and lots of other vehicles as well. I like to use my hard plastic 64-oz. drink cups. Now, before you blow a gasket, I don't fill them with sugar, but rather with water or some other sugar-free, non-alcoholic beverage. There's no way my cups would fit in my new cup holders--and I quickly learned that well-made after-market inserts are surprisingly rare. I took a chance and ordered a Smart Kup. Even though it is not sold under the "Amazon Prime" rubric, it arrived very quickly, and with no shipping charges. So far, so good. It's made of sturdy ABS plastic, rather than some sort of weak stuff, and likely will last a long time. But would it fit my cup holders? Sadly, it did not. The fit was all loosey-goosey and wobbly, and any large cup I put in it would tip over the second I left the curb. RATS! Then, while I was rooting around in my kitchen Everything Drawer, I came upon a lightweight neoprene koozie. It was worth a shot. The koozie was a tight fit, because the bottom of the Smart Kup is larger than a beer can. But it fit, and it fit snugly. I put the Smart Kup with the koozie into the cup holder. PERFECT FIT! Next I filled one of my plastic cups to the brim with water, put on the lid, put my cup into the Smart Kup, and took a little drive. The top part of the Smart Kup is significantly taller than its competitors, and it held my cup solidly upright. Bumpy road. The drink cup didn't budge. Sharp curves and corners. The drink cup stays upright and secure. EXCELLENT! There's also a cut-out slot in the side of the Smart Cup, so that I could use a good-sized coffee cup easily, so long as I didn't fill it absolutely to the brim with steaming coffee. The Smart Kup passed ALL of my tests with flying colors. So I immediately ordered another one for the second front cup holder in my vehicle. It showed up in the middle of the US today after a quick trip from Hawaii. These are the ones to get, folks, and they're keepers! SO: design and construction--five stars. Convenience--five stars. Value received for money spent--five stars. Appearance--it's not the Venus de Milo, but it looks good enough. Five stars there too. Durability--built of sturdy ABS rather than some flimsy junk. Five stars. AND they'll hold many insulated water bottles as well! Where's the down side?

Perfect Solution for 40oz Hydroflask
This is one of those items I wish I found a year ago. I use a Hydroflask 40oz daily and my car did not have a good place to keep it - I was shoving it between the center console and my seat until my Hydroflask got scratched. Enter Smart Kup - it arrives in two pieces and needs to be screwed together. This is the only part of the product I was a little iffy about at first - the plastic screw threads was difficult to screw together and I didn't want to break it. Eventually I got it lined up OK and it went together fine. The opening at the top is a little larger than the Hydroflask 40oz, so it won't be a terribly snug fit. But thats OK because the height of the SmartCup keeps your hydroflask from falling out unlike some other similar options. It will sway a bit though - I chose to put mine in one of my front cup holders so my dash is behind it, just to make sure it doesn't sway. Overall - a great purchase for someone who needed a solution for a big drink. I occasionally still use this holder for drinks from a fast food restraurant, but note that the opening is big enough that those will really sway and may spill a little. I haven't had one fall out completely and would think that to be difficult given the high walls. I plan on keeping this thing in any car I go in, including when I rent a car. If you live by the Hydroflask (or similar big water jug), you probably need this in your car.

Exactly what I needed!
I have a very BIG Bubba cup...48 oz. worth....that I use as a water bottle and like to carry with me. The only problem is that the cup holder in my '04 Navigator was just a *tad* too small to accommodate it. Not to be outdone by engineering, I set out to find a way to carry it with me without having to keep my hand on it the entire time I was driving (very dangerous). This extender fit the bill nicely. It's still just a tad smaller than would be ideal for my cup, but the fact that it has the cut-out for a handle means that it's just flexible enough that I can push my cup down into it enough to be stable. Due to the sheer weight of my cup when full, I've had no trouble with it tipping when making turns, but I can't speak to smaller/less weighty cups since I only use this with this one cup. I would definitely recommend it, and will likely purchase another if/when needed.

FINALLY!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this item! I use the Contigo Autospout Ashland Water Bottle, 40oz water bottle and have been in the market for a cup holder that actually fits this bottle within my car! The SMART KUP Car Cup Holder for Hydro Flasks 32 oz and 40 oz DOES THE JOB! I no longer need to put my water bottle on the floor of the car or even in the door of the car! My water bottle fits in the cup holder which fits nicely in my car cup holder. I have a 2014 Ford Escape and, again, the SMART KUP fits nicely. No hacks needed. It's not loose. THANK YOU!! I will be putting another one on my Christmas List so that I can have it on my couch in those cup holders! HIGHLY RECOMMEND the SMART KUP Car Cup Holder for Hydro Flasks 32 oz and 40 oz!!!

2017 Chevy Colorado
The console cupholders in the chevy colorado are ridiculously small. Good for a 12 oz paper cup and thats it. There is a thick rubbery liner within the cupholder area and this Smart Kup slides in and grips nicely. Also goes in deep enough to be stable. With a full 40oz insulated hydroflask in it, the holder doesnt move or tip over or pop out of the cup holder hole during sharp turns. The Kup also keeps the hydro flask from falling out of the Kup because it sits deep enough. May not work for all car cup holders depending on the opening size, but for me, 5 stars. If only they can make a solution for the useless/stupid/small and oddly angled door cup holders in the 2017 colorado....

WORKS GREAT, 7/7 would gift others.
LOVE IT. As a jeep wrangler owner, I'm always looking for ways to improve my car. Silly enough, making the cup holder fit my large water bottles was an improvement I'd been digging around for, for quite some time. I scoured the jeep forums for solutions, and for some reason, no one on their suggested these. Seems silly, because most of their suggestions were to get a smaller bottle, instead of actually offering a solution to the problem at hand. PFFFT, get a smaller bottle? I have a large one for a reason!

How did I live without this
Oh heck yea I can finally have my 40oz Hydro flask or 32oz Bubba locked and loaded! Product pictured in a 2016 GMC Sierra holding a 32oz insulated bubba cup. The handle cut out is perfect.

Much better!
I didn't buy this in Amazon because I was in Hawaii and ended up contacting the vendor directly. I used it today and was very happy with the way it contained my Hydroflask 40oz flask. I had previously purchased a different (slightly more expensive) brand and found that it didn't quite hold onto my flask. As I would take the turns in my Mazda5 (not a drifting style of vehicle, mind you), it would launch the bottle into the passenger side of my car like an unwanted enemy ejectile. So I have to say, I was skeptical of how well it would work. Especially, in the confines of my Mazda5. The extra couple of inches of height that this SmartKup helps to control it. It fits perfectly into the second cup holder but the arms of the seats can make it a challenge because the container is just too tall. To overcome this, you need to have the seat arms up. If you want the arms down, there will be a little tilt to the bottle but nothing noticable in function. You can try and put it in the first cup holder if the position suits you. It does wobble a bit. But nothing distracting, at least to me. I am happy with the function of this. Just as a side note, if you have the Jugalug sleeve for your 40oz, you can make it fit half way but it's best to take it out of the sleeve. Overall, I am happy with this product! UPDATE - I just wanted to include some photos to show the difference between the Smart Kup and the previous that I had. I put the 'other' on some yellow post it notes so that the base where the bottom of the Hydroflask is sitting would be even to each other for a proper comparison. Please note that the 'other' had additional rings and a foam cover (missing from pic) to adapt to more cup holders. It didn't work for my car. In fact, these rings were flimsy and once taken apart were a bit of a pain to get them to lock together. I am fortunate that the Smart Kup does fit my car better. Also, I really hated fussing with all the pieces. Smart Kup is one piece. Plop it in and done. It either fits or not. Finally, the biggest difference you will see in the comparison photos is how much taller the Smart Kup is to the 'other'. The extra 2 inches made a big difference in the stability of the Hydroflask and lessened the tendency for it tip over, knocked out or go flying out. I hope that helps others with comparing holders and finding the holders that suit their vehicle and lifestyle.
