Great step up from FDM/FFM Printers, for small parts
This printer is a huge step up from FDM/FFM (usually melted plastic) printers, but please take some time preparing before you start if you want a good experience. Anycubic support is excellent, and there is a large Facebook group full of Anycubic Photon owners willing to give advice and to help you troubleshoot any issues. The printer comes assembled, and isn’t difficult to level once you understand the process. Prints take a while, but I often go to work and come home to a full build platform ready for post-processing. What’s nice about SLA printing is that you can print a single piece or a full build platform, and it takes about the same amount of time if the layer height is the same. You’ll want to start right away, but take the time this printer deserves and become familiar with common issues and how to fix them. I found that most of the issues I experienced were related to leveling the printer as a whole (the feet on the bottom adjust), leveling the build platform (it has to be tighter than you’d expect, but be careful not to crack the LCD screen), and tension of the FEP film at the bottom of the resin vat (it should be tight, and almost feel like a solid surface). The resin is messy, often smelly, and you’ll be trading your time for some amazing quality prints. There are a few other items you’ll need before you begin printing. You need so many paper towels, high concentration isopropyl alcohol (isopropanol) – 90-99%, small cutting pliers for removing supports, 190 micron cone filters (to filter resin for re-use), and [optional]: a UV light, plastic or aluminum containers. Watch some videos of people printing, understand their process, and make sure you’re prepared with all the necessary pieces before you begin. Cleaning between prints takes some time, so don’t rush it. Unsupported islands and other operator errors can result in cured resin stuck to the FEP film. Understand what these are before you start printing, check your .photon files with the Photon File Validator, and it will be worth your time. Resin is expensive, but there are many tutorials to help you hollow models before you print. Don’t make the mistake I made and order a bunch of boring resin to print gray-scale prints. The opaque resins don’t give you quiet the ‘wow’ reaction that the others do. The Anycubic green is an excellent color, and you can’t go wrong with most of the translucent red/yellow/blue/green/clear resins.

My new best friend Anycubic Photon
This is my first SLA printer, I got it couple of months ago. Finally decided to share my prints and my experience. It's compact, a well designed and well built printer. Print quality is amazing, superior than one could expect from such a budget priced machine. Some reviewers wrote here that it’s not appropriate for a jewelry making. I would totally disagree – the prints are precise and smooth, perfectly suitable for lost wax casting. Please take a look at some of my works printed with Anycubic Photon. I have access to a way more expensive machine and honestly, could hardly see any difference in print quality. It works right out of the box, the only thing you have to pay attention to is the correct leveling of the build plate. Precise leveling is crucial, I had some issues with an adhesion to the build plate and all of them were related to the poor leveling. So spend some time, you have to level it once in a while anyway. The Photon has an excellent support from the group with more than 7000 users/owners in social media and the manufacturer itself. You’ll hardly find such a wonderful printer for this price.

Just what I wanted! Great printer!!! RRO!
RRO = Real Review Only, from an actual Purchase, not given anything for free or test. 1. The alignment is kinda hard but if you follow the directions you can get it right too. I recommend adding support to your prints so you can later cut them off with a cutting tool. 2. I can’t stop printing with this thing, I truly love this printer. I am a newbie to SLA printing, but I am very tech savvy as well. First 3 prints that I got were the Eiffel Tower (made overnight) a few other pieces as well... 3. I had the spark maker before this, I should say this is a much better unit and more friendly... 4. Some users complain about the resin smell, but that’s just the normal smell of resin, it’s not any worse that the others, it didn’t bother me at all... 5. Wish they made a bigger one that was also cost effective... 6. Just buy it, you won’t regret it... however you need to be patient for the prints. They do take allot of time for some...

A Tabletop Gamer’s Dream
So... wow. I own an FDM printer. I used to like my FDM printer. But then this DLP resin printer, that is already inexpensive (as resin printers go) went on sale, and I couldn’t resist... and I am truly glad I didn’t at this point. The printer comes mostly assembled. Setup is a breeze. I’ve done two print runs, and both were successful using the included slicer’s supports. And the print detail and accuracy is just mind blowing for such an inexpensive printer. I had been a little worried about handling resins, but while it IS a lot more overhead than FDM printing, it’s also not too terrible. And while the resin IS toxic, and you don’t want it on your skin (do wear gloves), it’s more like a household cleaner such as CLR than a tub of sulfuric acid. Your skin won’t burn off if some of it gets on you. Anyway.... Pros: 1) INSANELY good print quality. Not only are the pixels/layer heights very fine, but the accuracy is near perfect. 2) the DLP UV curing light projects an entire layer at once, so you can fill the build plate and the time is determined by just the tallest model on the plate. In other words, it doesn’t take any longer to print 8 than 1. This mitigates the overhead of having to clean and post cure the resins 3) The printer is easy to setup and use, and the included software is good. 4) The price. This printer is insanely good for its price point. 5) Did I mention how good the print results are? Cons: 1) resin requires more work to post process/cleanup, both in terms of the prints, and the printer itself. 2) resin is more expensive than PLA filament. 3) resin does have an odor. It’s not overwhelming if you have ventilation, but I wouldn’t set this up in a small enclosed space. 4) The build area is pretty small. Not a big deal if you’re printing small things, but it’s prolly less than 1/6 the build area of my FDM printer, and I don’t have a huge FDM printer. Bottom line: I was hesitant about dealing with resins. And it is more work, and it is messy stuff. But there is simply no comparing the results of an FDM printer with what this thing can do (see the FDM versus this printer comparison photo... it’ll be obvious which is which). I mean, in a single word.... WOW. UPDATE: having run into issues with prints occasionally failing due to sticking to the FEP film instead of the build plate/model, the solution is to increase the regular layer cure time. This is especially true with darker resins, but my success rate went to about 100% after going from 8 second layer time to 12 seconds.

I decided the Anycubic Photon was be the best choice vs some of the competition for all those ...
Absolutely Thrilled with this purchase. Finally I own and SLA 3d printer and it didn't cost me "an arm and a leg" but you wouldn't know that by looking at the prints. Having done some research prior to the purchase (price, build size, ease of use, support), I decided the Anycubic Photon was be the best choice vs some of the competition for all those reason plus a few more -Build quality, presentation and print results. This is a great looking machine, I was actually expecting something "cheap" and got something that feels like a well established product and not just the "new kid on the block". From the packaging all the way down to the manual the Photon gives you quality you can see. My first prints were flawless though its more like beginner luck since once I got into trying "go all out" I ran into the learning curve associated with "supports" and printing large flat areas ...its not as intuitive as FDM supports, but when you nail it... Well take a look at some prints. The most remarkable to me are the Lithophane pictures. These came out great, and since a ton of people have never even heard of the technique, seeing these prints really wow'ed people at work (I tried the same print on an FDM - its like comparing 1950's TV vs HD). I even printed a few replacement parts for My FDM printer (the gears and Idler) - also great... However.... The standard resin is not too tough and can chip and crack so I won't be using those parts like I wanted. As you can see everything looks great. The biggest problem I have run into is ...running out of things I want to print. I've gone through (2) 1lt bottles of clear, (3) 1/2 lt of white and one 250mg of green with no signs of stopping in sight. Thingiverse has some nice things but Im looking to make things more like model kits its facts 2 of the picture of for parts of a model plane Im working on you will be able to see that these parts look like there are injection molded. My advice to anyone on the fence about buying this printer is, jump. If you've been 3d printing and you've been looking to up your quality or do some next level thing like casting start here. Well worth the money.... money?... this cost me less than my first RepRap, which took forever to dial-in and pales in comparison. Thank you Anycubic guys I can't wait for some "tough" resin options.

Perfect for the Hobbyist! It's a steal at this price!
Starting with the delivery and packaging. This is how ANY company should ship items. Printer was packed in a box and form fitted Styrofoam. removed the printer and started on the instructions. I'm not new at this, 35years working in electronics and they are a little hard to follow. 30 minutes later I had the machine zeroed and the vat 1/3 filled with juice and I was off and printing! First print was the demo supplied on the USB stick. Do not think that the supplied demo is going to print in a flash, it takes 5h 30m. In all actuality I think the time is spot on, I know my FDM ROBO printer could NEVER produce a print as fantastic as the PHOTON. The printer itself is well constructed and the included juice is a plus to get you printing right away. Take my word, get a funnel to put the paper funnel in before you try pouring the remnants from the tray back in the bottle! Print size for me will work, I plan on using it for HO and N scale railroading. This is something to remember, don't expect to use a $500 machine to draft a $5000 piece of jewelry. Come on use your head. The light source is an LCD, to get better results you are going to have to go laser light. For the price this is an exceptional buy for the hobbyist. Included Slicer software is fast, uncluttered with just the necessary controls. Things I would change: LCD could be better and at an angle for convenient viewing. You use the included USB stick to load your file to print, just may be me but I would like the option to also control by a PC. What's my verdict? Considering I spent about $800USD for my ROBO at the time, the PHOTON is a steal for around $530USD.

Amazing quality prints
Prints have been amazing so far and the software is easy to use too. Had a question about the printer and the customer support was able to answer under 24 hours. Would recommend 100%. Anycubic can only guarantee the quality of prints using their resin so that is what I have been using with great success. They state that they are not responsible for failed prints using 3rd party resins and cannot provide a return. If you are having trouble with the third party resin I recommend using Anycubic resin or contacting the manufacturer of the 3rd party resin for details. If you are concerned about the smell they assure you that it is safe and they will provide SDS reports upon request.

Brilliant, simple, and precise
Ok, first off you need to calibrate the build bed properly. It took me three prints to get right with a simple method: 1) hit Home before you attempt to calibrate, 2) then use 1mm and 0.1mm increments to get the paper between build plate and DLP screen tight so that it barely moves when you pull/push it, 3) tighten the build plate screw while pressing on the plate so it is evenly flat on the screen, 4) once tight back up the plate for one 0.1mm increment, and 5) set the Z=0. After that... just print and be amazed. Remember, no 3D printer will do the proper slicing for you if you don't know what you're doing / don't get proper support for your model. Practice the logical art of slicing a properly prepared model and this printer will do the rest like a champ. All that said this is the most simple printer to set up; took less than 10 minutes to start the first print from the box. AnyCubic resin is great, too, but you can use cheaper resins as well. But you need to learn the correct exposure settings for each of them -- there's a plenty of info on this online. I'm hooked on this machine as it produces the best ~28mm miniatures I've ever seen from a home setup and that for ~$500 ... Great deal! Update 04/28/2019: The printer keeps on chugging and producing amazing models for the price. Attached couple of pictures of home designed custom 28mm miniatures. Unfortunately my camera is not the best, but you can tell the details captured; fingers can be seen individually, in the pouches attached to the waist you can see the zipper, and one of the miniatures have very aggressive lean back and one leg up with spread arms and it prints perfectly every time. Also, really liking the Nova3D resin of any color, but especially the white (picture attached).

First Printer, some technical difficulties, but Excellent Customer Service.
This is my first trial in 3D printing after doing much research on different printers and styles. Firstly, this printer is almost 1/4 the price of comparable printers out there. The results out of the box are great and certainly work for what I wanted it for (Board Game Miniatures and Prototyping Parts). The printer worked great with the supplied resin for approx 2 weeks including some learning curve for how to clean everything and get the cure times right. Now, here is where I had some issues. The LCD screen which actually creates the UV mask for printing started to peel up. This seems to be a common issue with other Anycubic Photon owners, but I was not able to catch mine in time and the LCD screen tore the ribbon cable as it stuck to the resin vat. Doh, 2 weeks and the printer was already broken. But... I emailed anycubic support and they offered to mail me a free LCD screen. It took 2 weeks to get here from China, but it arrived very well packaged in thick bubble wrap. There is also a very helpful how-to video from Anycubic on how to replace the screen. It wasn't difficult to install, but you do have to be very careful. As a fix to prevent further LCD sticking/popping out, I used very thin aluminum tape around the edges. [See Photos] It works well currently, pumping out prints when I need them. Take Home Points: 1. Understand that 3D printing is at a hobby stage currently, with some tinkering and initial failure required to get to learn the ropes 2. The leaning curve isn't too bad 3. Anycubic Support stands behind their product and is aware of some of the technical issues, and helped me with a free LCD replacement 4. The smell of resin is pretty strong, I had to put this in my garage 5. The price of this printer simply can't be beat by other resin printers, though the resin price may catch up to you. Overall 5/5 - Good First Experience. Strong Support From Company, but some tinkering and experimentation necessary. Priced perfect for entry level hobbyists.
