This is a great toy! My 4.5yr old, 18 mo old, and 11 mo old grandchildren all played with it in different ways. The oldest made color patterns, the middle did the expected fitting in and pulling out of the holes, and the youngest was able to pull them out and grab the 'quills.' When done the pieces fit inside making it easy to store. I love Learning Resources toys they are well made and thoughtfully designed.

My 17 month old is in occupational therapy, so we bought this to help with his fine motor at home. He has been working with this and improving a lot. He can now pull the small pegs from the board at therapy. His therapist was impressed with his improvement. Definitely recommend!

I bought this on a whim because I was looking for another toy by Learning Resources, which I think they must have discontinued. My baby was 6 months at the time and she loved it immediately...now almost a year and it's still a favorite. I don't know what makes it so attractive but any baby who comes over wants to play with it and becomes obsessed with the pegs/quills?, carrying them around. I like that they fit it for neat storage/easy travel and the pegs are numbered so babies can learn numbers as well as colors and work on their fine motor skills putting the pegs in the wholes. Highly recommend!! And if they ever bring back that Learning Resources heart box of chocolates that puzzle piece together, buy it!

Perfect for little hands! My 20 month old is obsessed with this very simple, but very entertaining toy. Great for fine motor skills, direction following, color and number recognition and even learning patterns.

I wasn't 100% sure when ordering this toy, I as a therapist love it, especially for my younger kiddos. I would recommend, for 3 and under, well made, which is a plus.

Entertaining and great for motor skills!! My 22 month old son loves to put his toys through holes and containers. Lately he’s been obsessed with putting his crayons through any hole and crevice around which keeps him entertained but I had to watch him closely as he would also love to color my walls and furniture. I came across this toy while looking for another toy and thought I’d be perfect, I was not mistaken he loves it!! Another plus is that it’s a great travel toy as you can store the quills inside the shell. We take it with us to keep him entertained during dinner or flights.

This toy is so well made ! Both my kids were fighting over it as they fight over all the toys. I love how portable it is to take on trips or on the go to grandma’s house. Love how it builds fine motor skills and counting skills for my three year old. The colors are gorgeous! Won’t regret buying this!

Love this product. It says 18+ months but it was fun for both of my kids (11 months and 3). It’s meant to help with fine motor skills. The spikes are rubber with different colors and you can put them in and take them out of the holes in the hedgehog. The best part is that when they’re done playing the hedgehog opens and you can store all the spikes in there so they don’t get lost. Definitely recommend this product #learningresources

We use this toy at the suggestion of our son’s OT for helping his fine motor skills. He has hearing loss which affects his fine motor and balance (vestibular). It’s great because it’s colorful and fun, and helps him remap his brain to learn to use his fine motor skills. He actually picks it to play with sometimes on his own, not just in his therapy session. It is bigger than I thought but this is good because it’s just the right size for him so that he’s not getting frustrated with the pieces. Not recommended for under age 2, but I feel even stroke victims could use this to help regain fine motor skills. You can even make a couple of different games with the holes and pieces. Example: put in all the purple ones in a row! Take out only the red ones!

This toy is super adorable. My two year old loves it. GREAT FOR FINE MOTOR! I'm teaching her put in pull out and this is perfect. Also, the pegs go into the inside of the hedgehog for storage so it's great for traveling with.
