• From the kitchens of David Chang, chef and founder of Momofuku
  • Made with traditional Korean gochujang, an umami-rich Korean chili paste, combined with miso, soy sauce, and rice vinegar
  • Tangy, umami-rich, and spicy in flavor
  • Perfect as a condiment, dipping sauce, marinade, or dressing
  • Tastes good on everything

I had high hopes for this. It is delicious and is now my go to sauce.

This is a great sauce to put on roasted pork, burgers, or chicken to give an extra kick. A little subtle on the smoke, but good heat. This has replaced sriracha in my house.

I read about the chef who made this sauce and it came highly recommended by several reviewers. Really did enjoy this chili sauce. Very tasty and a little goes a long way! So glad Amazon carries it!

Goes great on everything from hotdogs while you’re camping, to veggie rice bowls at home! Bottle is made really well, and is a convienent size (does have a hair trigger though)!

Delicious. Spicy, tangy, savory, sweet etc...

This was so delicious. My boss is Korean and had never heard of smokey ssäm said that's just a David Chang thing. I brought it in to try it and my entire crew instantly went online to purchase. When they sold out my boss tried to buy the bottle off me. It's delicious good flavor and has a kick that creeps up on you. Very versatile and easy to use outside of lettuce wraps.

I LOVE David Chang and anything he puts his name on. This sauce is no exception! It’s delicious on burgers, hotdogs, in ramen, mixed in with veggies, the list goes on and on! Gives a kick to anything! My only issue is I ordered on September 8, 2018 and it is “best by” by October 9, 2018 so totally bummed which is not fault from the actual manufacturer. Of course I noticed this after I opened the bottle so no returning but I did get a free replacement compliments of Amazon except it has the same best by date so now I have 2 full bottles of this sauce that is best by 10/8/18. I found this exact same product at another store and the best by date on this bottles was 11/2019 so I’m guessing the ones I got were from the same box that ended up sitting on the shelf at Amazon for over a year.

Because flavor is subjective, as some people taste Cilantro as a soap flavor, I get -Sweet -Salty -Spicy heat - A bit of sake flavor - a savory umami flavor My brother doesn't really care for it. He says its "ok". Given the opportunity he will probably take another sauce over this. Personal preferences. I think the sake flavors put him off it.It took me a few minutes to place the flavor. I kept thinking "this tastes like alcohol of some type". Checking the label its got rice wine/ rice wine vinegar listed 3 times in the ingredients. It reminds me of that sake taste though it might not be an accurate description. I like it. I can't say if this will be my new favorite or not, "putting it on everything" but i sure do like it. It deserves a place in the rotation. I could go with a more spicy version. I think I want to smoke some type of pork and use this sauce to finish it out. Maybe some grilled fish. I didn't have any issue with packaging. I also find the bottle to be quite controllable. As said, your take on this sauce might be different than mine. It's all subjective and some people taste things differently than others.

This stuff is NOT ketchup and is. It meant to be like ketchup. First, use it sparingly. It is full of umami and flavor. I just made the dish above, saam sauce sloppy joes. Two tablespoons to a pound of ground beef was enough. It is the bomb.

This sauce popped up on Amazon when I was shopping for glass noodles. I thought I would give it a go. I am so happy I bought it!!! It has the gochujang spiciness, a little hint of vinegar and just a touch of sweetness that really does go well on anything. I have used the sauce on noodles, eggs, cooked cabbage, ramen, pizza, and as a dip for chicken tenders, French fries. It is BOMB in lettuce wraps, or any wrap actually. You can use it in bbq sauce, add it to ketchup or mayo to put on a burger. It’s good mixed with ranch as a veggie dip. I am on my second bottle, and can’t wait to try the other two flavors. I hope they never stop making this sauce!! You can also put some in chile or vegetable soup. I actually have taken this sauce to restaurants in my purse !!!!! Ssam sauce in my bag swag!!!!
