Nice set for beginning spoon carving

This appears to be a well designed set of carving tools for spoon carving. I can't speak for longevity since I just received it a few days ago. But in my first test carving on some sycamore this weekend, the blades did a fine job and the handles were easy to grip. My only wish is that it came with a mid sized sharpening stone. The blades and strop come in a nice rolled canvas case that is great for transporting and storage. The package arrived quickly and was it was sufficient packing so that nothing was damaged during transit.

Great quality and value on this carving set!

Impressive quality! Bought these for my son as a gift and he was very impressed with the "very comfortabe" handles on these and how sharp they are too! He really liked the set very much!! Thanks for a really nice set of carving tools and very well packaged too!

First Spoon Carving

This is my first set of carving knives. For the money, these knives are great. I was able to carve my first spoon from kiln dried popular. I did have to purchase a gouge knife to carve out the bowl of the spoon. Beavercraft delivered promptly and as advertised.

Simply a great product.

Exalent tools a must have. Best part for me was not made in China. It seems every thing you buy is made there. But for once I own an exalent product made in Ukraine.

Great knife set for all carvers

Being new to carving was looking for a good quality set of nice after doing my research I decided on these and boy am I glad I did . These knives are fantastic and were sharp right from the start. Ive enjoyed using them and everything came with the set to get started . Also have been in contact with BeaverCraft and they go above and beyond to make sure your happy they will be first in line for any future needs .

Great tools and an excellent price

Excellent knife set! I love these knives, the handles are ergonomic and the knives work incredibly well! I carve spoons for relaxation when I go camping, this set is compact and excellent to take with you. The steel seems to be very good since the knives are easily sharpened and keep their edge very well. I liked this set so much, I got a set for my good friend who is beginning to carve and loved to grab my knives! Update: After using my knife set extensively, I got another set for my brother and another full set from the seller, as well as two gouges and a draw knife. WOW! They are really great for the price! Every single knife is so well made, little pieces of art! I also love that they are treated with linseed oil (I believe) . It is a pleasure to use them, I love the tool roll and I love the customer service! Keep up with these great tools!

Excellent set of tools for the price

Couldn't wait to get started with the curved gouge. It works beautifully. Still getting the hang of carving and the most important aspect is keeping hands and fingers away from the blades. You must be aware of where your holding hand is in relationship to the blade when turning the piece you are carving. This may sound flip, but when the blade is in contact with the wood, you know where the blade is, When you change position of the carved piece your holding hand may catch the sharp edge. Be careful. Be aware. PS: I haven't been cut yet.

Great quality for the price

1) disclaimer- I have not started carving with the tools yet. I waiting until I’m away on vacation. 2) the knives are extremely sharp & appear to be very well made (for the price). 3) I’ve been to a local woodworking shop and if you try and piece this together with the stroop & knives it will be considerably more money and not come with the handy storage roll, which is pretty sturdy. 4) for someone taking this on as a new hobby, I think this is absolutely the way to go, it’s quality for the price and the basic tools to get you started.

All in one spoon carving kit

I bought this kit after seeing a review on You Tube and I'm glad I did, I have a mix and match of spoon carving tools but this is my first complete set. Came with a sloyd, detail and hook knife along with a strop and compound in a nice roll to keep it organized. The soon pictured I made with this kit with the exception of the kolrossing and the axe used to shape the billet. A great set for beginners or for traveling. Oh, forgot they include complimtary bandages LOL

Great tool set

Honestly, for the price, this is a 5 star tool set. I was excited to try my hand at carving wooden spoons, but was a bit nervous due to the fact that I was going to use dry/seasoned wood scraps I had laying around the shop. From what I can find out there in my research, most folks use green wood for spoons. The tools came very well packaged, and arrived sharp and clean. I was able to start carving my first spoon within minutes of unpacking. The handles fit nicely in my hand, and I will no doubt be buying more BeaverCraft knives in my future. I would also (if you're new to the game) recommend buying a sharpening stone or two to use in combination with the included leather strop and compound.
