Great Replacement

I purchased this product as a replacement for the original license plate holder on our 1993 Foretravel U280 motorhome. When it arrived, I was pleased to discover that it is a perfect replacement for the OEM light (Peterson PM-436-B). Same exact size and shape - uses the same mounting holes. Easy electrical hookup (BLACK wire is HOT). Looks great - puts out lots of light. Very satisfied with this purchase.

Great item for my Jeep

I used this to relocate my plate when I installed a swing arm tire carrier on my 94 Jeep Cherokee. The LED is really bright, almost bright enough to use as a reverse light. Great product so far and it looks like it was meant for my Jeep.

Great For Relocating License Plate

With a tire carrier on the back of my 4Runner I needed to relocate the license plate. My older version, one of the iJDM ones just didn't hold up in the weather. Most of it was plastic and cheap feeling, but for about a year it did the job. This one however is much more sturdy and built better. I've already ran it through multiple ran and snow storms with zero issues. Light isn't blinding bright, but still puts off a great amount of power. Highly recommend for anyone needing a light or going the route I did.

As advertised

If you can screw it into a flat surface, like a trailer door, it is very easy to mount. Otherwise, you may need to do some 'fabrication'. It would be nice to have a grommet for the wires that would penetrate the door, but the vendor can't anticipate every installation application. Bright enough to make the other lights look dim. The 'chrome' top cover will not withstand abuse (Don't stand on it!)

Normally needs to be wired to car, but can also be powered with a 9 volt battery!

I needed something to illuminate our license plate when we had a bike rack that was obstructing the plate. Instead of attaching it to my car's wiring, I soldered a switch to a 9V battery and attached the wires to this LED unit, then waterproofed it with hot glue. This created a reliable light for the brief period when we needed something like this, so I'm glad I made the purchase. I wouldn't recommend using it in this way necessarily, but thought I'd share how I used this product.

Simple to install and works great

I bought this license plate lamp to replace the broken one on my horse trailer. I chose this one largely because the mounting holes were almost the same distance apart as those on my old light, so I didn't need to drill more new holes in the fender. I haven't had it out of the shop yet, but it looks like this lamp will be plenty bright to illuminate the license plate. In the attached photos, the workshop is *very* well lit, yet this lamp still shines a noticeable amount of light down onto the license plate area. The light color is just a touch more blue than 5000K "daylight" bulbs, but not nearly as blue as most of the cheap LEDs that you buy online. For reference, the ambient room light in the attached photos is 5000K. The hot & ground wires coming out the center of the base are about 4-5" long. I do wish that the mounting flanges on the base of this lamp were grounded so that I didn't have to terminate the ground wire to a mounting screw, but that's a small complaint. I won't even dock one star for that.

Easy to install. Bright light!

Awesome license plate light. Bought one for our tacoma when we replaced the bumper. recently upgraded the tire carrier on our jeep and bought this to mount to the carrier license plate mount. easy to install. even easier to wire up! def will buy again should we ever need it.

Nice, strong metal build

Better than a plastic job I got from an online trailer place for the same money. The usually have a black and a white wire. Believe it or not, the white wire is the ground. How non-intuitive. No instructions were included with either unit. Fund out the hard way.

Great value, great light

I bought this to use with my Nissan Versa and my 1Up bicycle rack. The 1Up is a great rack but it completely covers the license plate on a 2007 Versa and I don't really want a ticket for tooling around with an unlit license plate. The solution was to use the 1Up license plate holder and this light. This light kit works like a champ and as a bonus it comes with nice connecting hardware to the license plate.

These are DOT approved and have excellent bright light output

Arrived fast and price was excellent. Old units used incandescent bulbs and had yellowed lenses. New ones are sealed LEDs, have great light output and were an exact sized replacement. Pic above shows old one still installed to give a comparison of light output. if your install uses two lights DO NOT try to reuse the old one. Replace both of them! Very happy with the results.
