Bought a boat a week before going on a cruise for vacation and I get back to find it's been tampered with. Looks like they took a grinder to a side panel to gain access to the locking mechanism and failed. Also there's a couple tiny knicks on the shackle where they tried to pry and cut. The lock held up well and for $30 it was money well spent. Not sure how pick proof it really is, but any thief that would try to steal a boat and trailer is dumb enough so this lock is somewhat overkill for people with negative IQs. I'm just happy that they miserably failed. I will definitely be looking at getting security cameras soon though....

I bought the Reese Heavy-Duty Trailer Lock and I've used it for approximate a year so far. I'm very happy with the trailer lock and I'd recommend it. The main body of the lock is cast aluminum, and the U-bar is hardened steel. The U-bolt only locks to the body on one side (where the lock is) - but overall - I'm ok with that. The lock is 'looser' then I expected, but it works. (Although, that might be a positive for if the lock gets dusty/dirty, as opposed to getting jammed up) As the pictures show, the heavy-duty is much larger then the Yellow Reese lock, or the Red Master-lock. What they don't show is how all of them are hollowed out on the bottom to reduce costs. Knowing this, I'm very glad I got the heavy-duty one. A lot more 'beef', for not much extra cost. You can review online videos showing how easy these locks are to break - but I think it's enough to avert most thieves. The extra cost for the heavy duty is cheap - for the additional protection. A lock only keeps honest people honest. I strongly recommend this heavy-duty trailer lock for theft protection.

Simple concept. Honestly these locks are only designed to slow someone down long enough to prevent. It serves the purpose but is not high grade anti theft lock. Those absolutely cost a lot more but this does prevent a grab and run or tampering. I like the pick proof lock/key style. Not a bad product to use while out and about if you need to leave your trailer unattended but your close by.

I'm not going to say that this is the be all, end all of trailer protection, but it's enough to deter a half hearted thief and keep an honest man honest. I could likely defeat it with a few hard swings if a heavy hammer or even a pry bar. It's big and beefy looking and for the money I spent I think it's a good visual deterrent. If I had a brand new high value travel trailer I'd spend more $$. Mine is 20 years old, in good shape for it's age and not worth anyone's trouble (I hope).

Works perfect. Keep anyone from driving off with your camper while you are away from the camp ground. Well worth the money just for the peace of mind.

I use it for my trailer. Some says that quality is suck, but I don’t think so. If the thieves determined to steal the trailer, they have hundred ways to do it. This lock is better than nothing on the trailer. The size maybe not fit for every trailer, please purchase carefully.

I purchased this coupler lock for my new trailer. It prevents the ball from hooking up and the trailer getting stolen. It fits multiple sizes and types of couplers. It is qualtity made and heavy duty and it should last many years. I am very happy with it and I recommend it.

Previously I was using the yellow, ( smaller sibling of this 'beef-ier' hitch lock) When I got a larger hitch mount the yellow no longer for around the collar. The grey/black stout-er sibling was definitely bigger with a larger diameter locking arm. However it could have been 1/4" wider for the PERFECT fit. It performs is duty well, but must click at a slight angle. The lock mechanism is ready to use and much harder to pick. Overall very pleased.

Heavy duty, fits my 2” ball. Also have hitch-pin lock. Happy with my purchase for my Travel Trailer.

I have the standard reese coupler lock. Its OK; but I have heard can be broken with a few hits from a hammer. The heavy duty lock is definitely sturdier and has a unique key with a keyhole cover to keep dirt and rain out.
