Excellent embroidery hoops and a great value!
I just received this set of plastic embroidery hoops today and I am very happy with my purchase. Over the years I have used metal, wooden, and plastic hoops. I was a little hesitant to order these because of the phenomenal price. Five different sized hoops for just under $7.00. What a bargain! I think there is a nice variety of sizes and I like the different colors. But the best part is the way these hoops perform. I am currently working on a counted cross stitch project on Aida cloth. I used the blue hoop (approximately 6 inches in diameter) and it is the perfect size. I have never used a hoop that holds the fabric so taut. It was a pleasure not pulling and readjusting fabric every few minutes. I was working on the outer edge of my project and it held the fabric in place and it never loosened. I swear you could bounce a quarter off of the fabric! I also tried the largest hoop with the same result. I tried the blue hoop on another project sewn on fleece and it worked just as well. The interior hoop has a channel that the outer hoop nestles in, which is what makes the hold on the fabric so strong. I agree with the other reviewers that getting the outer hoop in place can be a bit tricky, but the result is worth the effort. I found that if I lay my fabric on a flat surface, rather than on my lap, the hoop is easier to work with. It also helps to unscrew the outer hoop completely when you are placing it on your fabric. After an afternoon of sewing, I am well pleased with my purchase. The hoops are light weight, which is nice for long hours of sewing. The plastic is thinner than my other Susan Bates plastic hoop, but you could not buy ONE Susan Bates hoop for this price. I cannot see any reason why these will not hold up for years.

Great starter set
Great set for starting out, comes with everything but the fabric. Unlike wood hoops these have a slight inner lip which helps lock it in place.

Just the Hoop You Need
I have tried bamboo hoops all of my life and has a hard time keeping the material stretched. However, these plastic ones with the circular dip inside the hoops helps to secure the material in place while being held tautly reinforced by the tightening of the screw. Not to mention the different convenient sizes for most embroidery projects.

quality plastic hoops
These are exactly what I needed for my craft projects. They are nice thick plastic. Not flimsy at all.

Your work won't budge
The inner hoops have a "gutter" in which the outer loop settles, really clamping everything together. I haven't had any problems with smashed stitches, despite the firm grip. My work doesn't slip like it has in the past with other plastic hoops. I wish the tightening screw had a slightly bigger "knob" to it but it hasn't been an issue. Great to have the size options too!
