Excellent for medical grade Saffron

I have been using this brand of saffron for about three months and am on my fourth order. This feels like TMI, but I’m sharing this for those who struggle with depression. I use one nice sized pinches two times per day for depression and anxiety. If you haven’t heard of this used as medicine, I recommend you head over to the NCBI database and do your own research. But to sum up, in a double blind study versus Prozac, saffron was able to give 75% of the study participants the same benefits as Prozac without the unwanted side effects. There is still more research needed to verify these results, but I figured I’d give it a shot since there are no notable side effects from a couple pinches of saffron every day. I had already coordinated with my doctor and tapered off Zoloft under his constant supervision. (That’s super important to do! Don’t just stop your meds and start eating saffron like an ignorant fool. It’s dangerous and you might end of doing something regrettable because of it. Going off Zoloft was really really hard and I definitely needed the support of my doctor to do it.) Removing the favored antidepressant and anti anxiety medicine left me feeling pretty bad. I was open to a natural remedy and had pretty low expectations. I sought out a reasonably priced but highest quality saffron since I intended to use this as medicine. This saffron has yet to disappoint in its quality. It has great shape, color, and aroma. As far as medicinal quality, HOLY COW! I’m definitely one of the fortunate 75% that completely benefits from this remedy. I get noticeably blue when I skip a dose. I have in fact changed my whole diet to two green smoothies a day just so I can incorporate the two pinches (and lost 20 pounds!) so if you are looking to replicate these results, this is an excellent brand to purchase and you will need to be sure to a) find a way to get it eaten twice a day realistically and consistently and b) make sure you don’t run out. Now that I know how often I need it, I’m most likely going to do a subscription of 2g every 2-3 weeks.

The real deal

I was pleasantly surprised when I received the product. The last time I had saffron like this was 36 years ago in Iran. This is the real deal. The 14 gram is the best deal per gram and well worth it. Be careful taking the tube out of the really nice packaging, the cork on top is not that snug and you could dump your saffron that costs more than gold :)

Good value, outstanding packaging

I've ordered twice so far. Quite a good value for the price. The packaging is worlds better than the plastic box or tin covered in shrink wrap that seem to be the order of the day for comparably (i.e. similarly low-)priced saffron from other brands. No complaints about quality or taste, but I'm favorably impressed with both. Or rather, since I'm not really qualified to decide that, I'm glad to see that my first impressions of a high-quality and highly tasty saffron are of a piece with reviews by people who do claim to be qualified to so decide. It reinforces the vague feeling that I've stumbled upon a bargain.

This is the Real Deal

I've purchased saffron from many sources over the decades and was extremely impressed by this product. It is truly the real deal; it is very fragrant, the color is superb, and the packaging is better than most. I immediately made a tea and rice with it as a test and both were spot on, just what I look for in saffron. Zaran does it right and I will be sure to use them in the years to come. The packaging informed me that Zaran is a small family business dedicated to quality. That appears to be true because it looks like they take care to provide a high-quality product.

A superb deal we thought was too good to be true... fear not, it IS true.

We were dubious about this offer, merely because we’ve spent four times the money for this much saffron. Now, we’re not saffron connoisseurs; that should be said when discussing a spice which is this costly in general. This saffron is from Iran, not Spain. That makes s difference to some; not to us, in our long, expensive relationship with this ingredient. Saffron is among our favorite seasonings for seafood. We are accustomed to peculiar packaging when we buy spices on-line. Zaran’s product came in a lovely, traditional tin, which was shrink-sealed thoroughly. It was wrapped in its own cute bubble-wrap envelope, conveyed by Amazon Prime in the ubiquitous white bubble wrap of its own. The product is uniform, rich in color, and Heavenly in aroma and flavor. Again, we didn’t expect such a pleasant surprise, and actually let out a “wow-gasp” upon opening. We look forward to more treats from this merchant.

I would buy this again and again!

Good saffron. I bought this to add to my cup of tea with lemon and honey and this works well. Saffron threads are very good for your eyes (which is why I bought them) and are supposed to help with any eye issues you may have. Also, I have read, Saffron is supposed to help with memory. I'm trying to do everything I can to keep me healthy and so far so good. An added bonus, is the container the Saffron came in.

I ordered the saffron, and as an Arab who uses saffron in almost all dishes (savory and sweet), I was pleasantly surprised. The packaging was beautiful and lined with velvet. The smell glass bottle that contained the saffron was cute and held the valuable spice tightly. The aroma that you smell when you opened the bottle is unbelievable and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Thank you.

YES, this is the real stuff. If you appreciate the quality of Saffron, you found it!!!

WOV, this is one of the best saffrons that I have purchased in the last 10 years. No joke, I buy about an ounce of saffron every year (a good portion of which goes as a gift for family and friends). I bought saffron online from a variety of sources and merchants including Kashmiri saffron from India. While quality Kashmiri and Afghani saffrons are as good, it's hard to find quality product at a reasonable price. For the last 7-8 years, I have been buying saffron mainly from Costco online and they do have one of the best saffrons out there. When you buy from Costco, every packet comes with a lab report (done in NYC). The batch I bought this April read the color score of 262 and not many can top that! Zaran saffron looks like its up there with 250+ score. The fragrance of this saffron is more potent than the Spanish saffron that Costco has. I weighed the contents on a research lab analytical balance and it came down to 10.095 grams. If these guys maintain the quality and pricing, they found a customer for life! Costco has their 14 gram jar for 80 bucks and put it on sale few times a year for 60 to 65 dollars. I paid $65 for 14 grams in April when it was on sale. They however, sell only costco size package of 14 grams (and rarely 5 gram package) and that's about it. Thank you guys at Zaran!
