Bought this to keep my dog out of the dining room. I had a 54 inch opening. Nice that you can just twist the rod to fit the opening. Was really tired of being pinched by the other gates when opening.

I wasn't really sure what these were going to be like but once I received them I was pleased to see they look exactly like the sides of my son's pack and play. I was very hesitant purchasing gates that have bars because he is attracted to anything that he can grab or looks like his crib (He is 8 months). Since this looks like his pack and play, he really has no interest playing with the gates. They are very neutral and you can easily remove them if you are having people over and want to tone down the kid-ness in your house. I think these would be perfect for anyone who has pets and the mesh removes and is washable. If you are looking for something in a high traffic area, this gate may not be the best. I am 5'2 and it is very difficult to step over the gate and I definitely would not feel comfortable stepping over the gate holding my child. I just remove the gates when we are done playing rather than step over them with my son. The gates set-up like a shower curtain rod, so if you are renting or don't want marks in your wall, you will also like the fact these remove easily. Definitely measure your doors prior to ordering. These are for a larger door frame and would work great in larger spaces and hallways. The instructions from Evenflo say 38 inches (97 cm) to 60 inches (152 cm).

Love this gate. We have used it with two kids and it had held up great. Even with kids rocking it and climbing over it I haven’t had it fall over or get knocked off the wall. Would definitely buy again if needed.

This is a great gate. It is very sturdy and my son could never get it down. It is broken now but I will keep the 5 star rating because my husband is the one who broke it. He wasn't paying attention in the dark and ran into it and fell over it. The 5 stars comes in because it didn't budge from where we had it. The bar just bent a little bit. So long as an adult doesn't bulldoze through it, it will do the job.

Y'all... these gates are lifesavers. Our townhouse has HUGE openings to the kitchen and all of our stairwells. Keeping our 20-month-old contained while I work from home was quickly driving me insane. These were the only gates we found that would extend to the size we needed for our kitchen and our stairwell. My ONLY caution is... if you place these in an opening and do not have the gate go all the way to the ground, it is possible for your child to pull it down by pulling on the top rail. I'm pretty sure that the instructions reference this as well. Otherwise, they anchor very securely and make your house feel less "prison"-like because of the see-through mesh.

Easy set up. Very strong

I received it today, put it together tonight. Followed someone's advice about putting foil on the end of the rods that go through the fabric opening - slid right through. I read through the instructions, made sure the skinny half of the rods were both on the same side. One point - make sure you push the loops as far over the ends of the horizontal rods as they'll go. After I assembled (and the rods seem twisted at that point), I pushed the bottom rod against the opening where it was going and adjusted it to about 1/2 longer. Then I held the upper rod against the opening, did the same thing. (Using the "In/Out" markings on the ends of the horizontal rods.) It worked! There is a spring inside, like a shower curtain rod, that lets you compress it that extra 1/2" I have a very snug, secure fit. I'm 5' 2", and I did it by myself.

I purchased this gate for only a 40" opening so i was worried that the material would be all saggy & way too bunched up. We'll I'm so glad i took a chance bc it's perfect! The material just scrunches or stretches when you adjust it. It's super easy to put together & put up...it took me 5 minutes no instructions necessary. The colors are neutral so they match my living room perfect. It doesn't take up a lot of space when you want to store it either. The trim around the base of my walls made it impossible for me to use one of the cheaper wooden gates. Since it made the distance across the top and the bottom different, it would just fall down. But since this is tension rods that tighten individually, It fits snug at the top and the bottom. (No damage to your walls, always a plus.) You can remove the fabric/mesh to wash it too. I'm 5'5" and i can easily step over it even while holding my 1yr old, but i suppose this could be an issue for shorter people. My son is 8 and he can climb over no problem so it works for us. I'm very happy with it, love it! I would definitely recommend this product.

Got the gate as a cat barrier to keep cats away from an area where they'd been peeing on hardwood floors at the end of a hallway (don't ask...). Unit is well made, the price is right, and the rubber end bumpers allow me to use it at an angle from one door moulding to another (see photo from a human perspective). Appears to be stable. Assembles relatively easily; follow the instructions. One bit of advice for other users during assembly: when you insert the horizontal rod through the upper, padded sleeve, the rubber bumper tip will hang up on the internal padding and prevent the rod from being inserted easily. My solution: cover the rubber tip with a piece of plastic wrap secured with a rubber band just below the rod end. Went through easily with this. You could also pop out the rubber mounting tip, insert the rod, and then reinstall the rubber tip. I'm 5'9" and I've got about 4" of clearance for stepping over it. Of course, the cats might just decide to pee through the gate and scratch on it to express their displeasure, but that's not Evenflo's problem. The cats already seem to resent being denied access to their usual route and activities, but that's not Evenflo's problem.

I like the fact that the top bar and bottom bar adjust independently from each other. This is helpful with high molding like I have. I can set the top bar wall-to-wall and the bottom molding-to-molding which is the difference of about an inch. We had a traditional cheap wood gate that had to have spacers placed between the top mounts and the wall because of the molding(otherwise the top mounts wouldn't even touch the walls). Getting the top rod into the gate was kind of tricky. the rubber on the ends catches the padding and bunches it up so that it won't go any further. I placed a plastic grocery store bag over the rubber and it went right through without any issues. Hopefully that saves someone else some time. I wasted 20 minutes trying to get it in before doing that.
