perfect for small animals
perfect for small animals. I got this for my dog and have to say it is pretty nice water fountain which also looks cute. running water is always better and more fun to drink. but this one works better for small cats/dogs I believe. my dog would drink it and she loves it, but the water would be splashed out. So end up giving this to my friend who has a cat which works perfectly. So guess I will give a 5 star for this one that makes my friend happy.

Lovely product, but need to clean unit & pump THOROUGHLY, & regularly. Details below.
I have one cat who needed to drink more water, and since she loved the sink faucet, I hoped this would help her. Eventually it did, as it took a while for her to take to it. I have a second cat, and a small dog who all learned to drink from the fountain within a week. There are 3 modes, you can use the fountain, or the simple cap that makes it bubble up, or remove that cap and the water flow is even more gentle. What I just learned recently after 5 months of not checking, is that you HAVE to clean the pump regularly! There was no visible hair clogging mine, but I finally opened it up today (there are 4 parts, read the manual and take it apart as soon as you buy it so you'll know how to clean it) and it was filled with slimy crud. This can be very dangerous for your pets! I clean my whole unit every few days with white vinegar and water, you can soak all parts, including the pump in that solution for up to 30 minutes, after you've taken it apart and washed it internally. You can also rinse, boil, then air dry the filter every few days to disinfect it so you don't have to replace filters all the time. I finally replaced my first filter after 5 months. If you clean the fountain, filter and pump thoroughly and regularly your pets will benefit from filtered water. If you don't, you are feeding them a bacteria bath. See important final note at bottom. When the fountain starts to get loud, just add more water. I do this daily. Lastly, and important, my pump wouldn't work today after I cleaned it. I checked the manual and discovered there is a 4th part to the pump (I originally thought 3, and just edited my review). The tiny white plastic spinning wheel is the 4th part, and it comes out. It's magnetized, so you have to pull. Mine was filled with nasty crud that I didn't catch the first time I cleaned the pump because I forgot the white wheel comes out too. Use a q-tip to get into the tiny magnetized tunnel where the wheel spins. Be thorough, because lurking bacteria is not what you want your pets to drink!

I THINK IT'S GREAT!
While I do agree that it would be great to have a clear window to see the water level, the other benefits far outweigh that small issue. My senior cat who is recovering from some illness LOVES it, as soon as I filled it he started drinking before I even put them top pieces on. Our cats are drinking more water which is a good sign. The best thing to me is that compared to our previous fountain the design is simpler and easier to clean. Our old one had a dome and mold grew in it, it was terrible to clean. I am so happy with this purchase.

My zen fountain
I purchased it for one of my cats who likes drinking tap water as it seems fresher to him. Unfortunately, tap is still his favourite (though he occasionally gives this one a go)... but my second cat loves it. However, unexpectedly I love this fountain even more! The pump is really quite, but the sound of pouring water (all you can hear) helps me relax. And it looks very nice! No problems with cleaning, it always appears very tidy and nice. I hope my other cat will warm up to it soon!

I love this cat water fountain
I love this cat water fountain. It is quiet and the water come out gently which won't scare my cats away. I like this because it holds a lot of water and I noticed my cats are now drinking more water from it than the bowl. Highly recommend this fountain to pet lovers

Seller replaced the pump when it broke after constant use for months
I ordered this the end of July and started using it August 1 and by mid-October it stopped working. It's like the motor burned out or something cuz it just won't pump water anymore. When it did work my cats absolutely loved it. The motor was quiet so it didn't constantly sound like running water and it was super easy to clean. No mold/mildew ever grew. I loved the three different attachment heads so you can decide how the water is dispersed. I was torn between a 1 star review since it only worked for 2 months and 5 stars because when it worked my cat loved it and the filters are inexpensive. Update in November: I reached out to the seller when the fountain stopped working and they emailed me back within a day. They sent me a new adapter/cord for the fountain within a week and it works again wonderfully! Great, fast, professional customer service! Even more importantly they did not require me to change my review as a condition of replacing the broken part!!!! I'm updating the review because it's the fair thing to do and I want to not because they "asked" me to as so many other sellers do!

The Best Pet Fountain I’ve Ever Purchased - Very Sanitary Because it’s Easy to Clean and Maintain
My cat has been using this fountain for 3 weeks now and he loves it. It makes me happy to see him drink so much water. In the past I felt like he wasn’t drinking enough water. As for myself; I love the fact that I only have to maintain the fountain every 5 days. I’ve had other fountains that I’ve had to throw away after 6 months because when cleaning I couldn’t reach all the areas the needed to be cleaned. Because I couldn’t reach those areas they started to look green and slimy and I didn’t want my cat drinking water that may have been contaminated with bacteria. With this fountain I can quickly and easily reach all surfaces for proper cleaning. I’ve been buying pet fountains for 20 years and this is by far the best. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a pet fountain. The only downside is the cost of the replacement filters. They’re a little pricey but since I love this fountain so much I’ll tolerate the cost of the filters.

Awesome pet water bowl!
[Quick update added at end of review.] I wanted a smaller water bowl for our cats & found a few like this one, all are similar in design. It was the perfect size & I like that it looks decorative too. I decided on this one because of the price (it was slightly cheaper at the time I bought it & I liked the color). Our old water bowl was a Pet Mate Deluxe water fountain, which is a great bowl; but it's design made it very difficult to clean all the little bends where the filter goes. Plus the pump was quite loud too. When I got this water bowl, it was so quick, simple, & easy to set up. Plus looking at the design, it's going to be very easy to clean too. The materials are made of a thick plastic, which is very rigid; so it doesn't bend easily. Though, I would recommend NOT to place these items in the dishwasher though. The heat & drying process; but damage/warp the bowl. Inside the bowl, there's only one spot with small prongs in the middle of the bowl where the pump goes & that's it. There's also a tube in the back of the bowl where the pump cord goes through from the top & feeds out the bottom on the outside of the bowl to connect an outlet. There's a dense sponge plug that goes in the tube, which I'm guess plugs the hole to prevent water from seeping through; but as long as you don't overfill the bowl & place it in a spot where it won't easily be knocked over; water will not spill out of the hole. There's a sticker on the cord tube that clearly marks the max water level you can fill the bowl as well. The bowl doesn't seem to tip over easily; but if you bump it, the water on the top will slosh out a little bit. There are 2 lids, the larger one fits on the top of the bowl first which holds the filter. The second sits inside the larger one, on top of the filter. Then you place either the small spout or the flower spout in the hold located in the middle of the lids. Afterwards, just turn it on & that's it! It took me only 5 minutes to set up & it's really quiet, except for the gurgling water. Although it doesn't bother me, some people may become annoyed at the gurgling; so I suggest that you use the flower spout instead of the normal spout. Both spouts make a gurgling noise; but I find the flower spout to be less noisy. For me, I find both spouts create relaxing sound; like I'm at a spa or something. ;D The bowl does hold about 2 liters, 1/2 gallon, 67 ounces, or 8 cups of water. I usually change out the water twice a week & replace the filter ever 3-4 weeks. Replacement filters are pretty inexpensive too, 6 for $14.99 was one offer I found. At first, the cats were very cautious around the water bowl. But after they checked it out thoroughly, they started to drink from it. Now they seem to be more comfortable; although my little 'skittish' cat is still very cautious. If your cats are really scared of the bowl, I would suggest not use any of the spouts at first, then add it when they get used to the bowl. Since we have 4 cats, I'm thinking of getting another one of these bowls to place in the bedroom where the cats tend to gather. I think it will work out very well. I highly recommend this water bowl design if you want something compact, very easy to clean, & somewhat decorative. UPDATE (4/4/18): I wanted to update my recent review of this product. I had mentioned that using the flower spout is quieter than the normal spout. I was mistaken, I meant to say that the normal spout is actually quieter than the flower spout; as long as the water bowl is relatively full of water. When the water level drops, it does become a bit louder & that's when I know that it's time to clean the bowl & add a new batch of fresh water. My apologies for the confusion. It's been about a week since I've used the bowl & it's been working great, although 2 of the 4 cats are still a little hesitant in drinking from it. But I have seen them linger around it more, so I think they will start drinking from it eventually.
