Long range sensor
The sensor portion of air quality detector can be outside and still connect to panel wirelessly. It seems to be not quite accurate with the professional air quality monitors in my location. However it still tells me what I need to know. In my house the meter reads about 5 to 6 with a air purifier in the room. When outside it reads anywhere from 10 to 200 depending on how bad the air is. I live where there is always fires, California. So when the pm2.5 is over 40 I know the air is getting bad. I wish this monitor would list AQI. I use a AQI calculator to get those numbers. When the sensor is in the house and my wife sprays hairspray in the bathroom it will detect it in the bedroom. It will go up from 5 to 40. I am glad I got this. I have two air purifiers. With the one air purifier I get a reading of 5 with the other air purifier I get a reading of 8. I think this meter might be good to see if ones air purifier is working properly.

Monitor Works Well
I bought two, one for measuring inside AQ, one for the outside yard. When the sensors are side by side, the readings are consistent, when I check against my Dylos DC1100, the readings seem to generally correspond although I have not yet done any cross calibration. The units seem to work well, sensor module and display seem to pair easily. One enhancement I'd like to see in future modules is a way to leave the USB charging cable permanently attached to avoid the recharge cycle every 3 weeks.

Does what it says it will do nicely!
It is a particle meter, not an air pollution index monitor so it shows the amount of dust/pollen particles with a number. That number then reflects on a bar graph below that shows the air pollution index more or less. So if you are under 12, then you are still in the "good" range. As the number goes higher, it shows what the air pollution index would be...good, moderate, mild, unhealthy, severe and hazardous. There is a wide range for each air pollution level and since I have asthma, I am more interested in how many particles are floating around my room. So this monitor works great for that and still gives me a rough air pollution index! It is well made and works great through wifi. I can place the transmitter anywhere in the house or outside with the additional solar charger and monitor the air quality from my room. Really nice!

This is working very well!
This is working very well, and worth the price. We track air quality because of my lung condition, and needed another sensor.

5 stars if it holds up in the elements
the out put is in RAW 2.5 microns per cubic meter, not US EPA index. Its spot on with purple air sensors in my area. Like I said, if the sensor can hold up constantly outside then this is absolutely a steal. EDIT:12/11/2018 - It holds up. Slow readings every 10 minutes as noted but thats not a problem for me. Solar charger works great and on the permacloud days I had to recharge it once.

Accurate, Portable, Versatile Air Quality Monitor
I can recommend this Ecowitt Air Quality Monitor. I recently purchased this sensor to monitor outdoor and indoor air quality at a home in Hawaii with volcanic emissions (VOG - mostly PM2.5 where I live). It seems accurate as I have another quality sensor (Plantower PMS3003) which gives the same results. Both of my sensors also match a quality Purple Air sensor located at a nearby house in my neighborhood. This Ecowitt sensor is particularly nice because it has no wires and you can move the monitor and/or sensor around easily if needed. You can have the monitor in one room with you, and the sensor anywhere else, or take it with you – whatever you like. This sensor does take a few minutes to update the readings, unlike a live sensor which is constantly changing, but that is to save energy life with the 2 sensor rechargeable batteries and a wireless connection – and is not really an issue. Quick Summary: 1. Nice battery operated display (no wires) with PM2.5 / ugm3, Max, 24-hour Max and 1hr Max PM2.5, 24-hour AQI color bar, temp and humidity, sensor battery level and sensor reception icon. 2. Quality/Accurate water-resistant Honeywell HPM partical sensor with rechargeable batteries and a solar panel (no wires). Sensor also has USB charge port, batteries last about 3 weeks without any charge, indefinitely with solar. 3. Useful Instruction Manual. 4. Responsive customer service.

Works very well on the Big Island of Hawaii, ...
Works very well on the Big Island of Hawaii, where we had much vog this year. Correlates with other on-line sites.

Peace of mind for indoor air quality in California
I live in Northern California and they canceled school once due to the air quality with all the fires going on. I was worried how good the air was inside our house. We have a new construction, highly energy efficient, with foam in the walls and very little outside air leakage but I was concerned whether or not we might need some sort of air filtering. This gave us peace of mind that while our kiddos were inside, they were breathing clean air.
